I don't think the wonder-woman is completely ridiculous.

Well, that says a lot.  She looks like she could hardly pick up a makeup case, never mind defend freedom and The American Way.

What if male Shepard had the body of the average guy in this forum?

Your post...says a lot as well.

Just because someone has skinny arms doesn't mean they're incapable of feats of strength.

Fun and related diversion:

Take a look at the teaser trailer for the Mass Effect fan film Red Sand starring Mr. Voice of BroShep, Mark Meer. From the look of this, Mark has a pretty average body... How tough does he look in that outfit?...

Okay, whatever.  If you want to play in imaginationland that's your business.

It's weird that BroShep doesn't have the body of Stephen Hawking, isn't it?  Actually, ALL of the men - including Mr. Glass-for-Bones Pilot - have the bodies of people who do weight training every day.

She's an excellent example.  Definitely a good counterpart to BroShep's ideal male body.

Not really. I only lift 3 times a week to get that physique.

Anyone ever notice that fat women are far more critical of thin or fit women, than the latter is of fat women? I'm a guy, and even I notice that. Every time one whines about society creating an unrealstic ideal for women or female 'body issues,' I want to her tell her to shut her fat pie hole.

I'm a woman and I see that all the time. I have a coworker that's like 200+ pounds and she's ALWAYS saying horrible things about women who are average/healthy/slim. She'll call them anorexic when they're clearly not or imply that they're shallow/****es/stupid or whatever but she's never even talked to them.  My grandma called my mom annorexic and she wasn't even trying to be mean she's just so fat and used to being around other fat people that someone healthy is "annorexic". My mom is a size 6 which is a healthy size, my grandma is obese.

I still hate femshep's body in ME3 though. It looks weird. Her hips and butt are kind of big and dumpy (a weird shape, not smooth and sexy) her boobs are saggy, and her arms are skinny and weird. If they'd stayed with the shape from ME1 or 2 it would have looked a lot better. Still my ideal female body is ladyHawke :3

Anorexic might be going a little too fair.

She looks healthy.

Anyway, if you are looking for a reason, she is thin for the same reason that the female squadmate have modelesque figures: male players aren't interested in female characters that are built like linebackers.

A Fem Shep that was built like Brienne of Tarth would be more realistic, but if Fem Shep looked like Brienne of Tarth, you'd have a lot less people playing as Fem Shep. And you'd have a lot of people raging about at Bioware for 'forcing' them to play an ugly female.

Very true. Not to mention I never thought she looked sickly at all. She just looks like...a runner, maybe a gymnist. So she doesn't lift weights. Neither do I...I run. She just looked normal to me. She doesn't even look underweight.

Brienne would outshine BroShep. That woman is a beast.

I am a woman and I get this all the time, because I am slightly underweight. No, anorexic is not the answer. Active, active my friend I am active.I run 20+ miles a week. But, my sister's are overweight so I get the critical input for not taking that route of sheer laziness and self delluision of what healthy is.

Male Shepard doesn't look like an "active" guy - he looks like a guy who wears heavy armor frequently, lifts heavy weapons all the time, and could take on tough aliens with his bare hands.

It's not that FemShep looks unhealthy (she definitely doesn't look "anorexic") - it's that her body is inappropriate for what her character purportedly does.

ME is not special in this case - it's a common trope in video games and modern media in general. It's just disappointing that a company willing to take on many touchy issues of sexuality still sticks with the "female hero = thin" stereotype.

I agree, and mainly blame it on the standard crew outfit.  The way they designed her body in that outfit is just totally wrong.  However, the alternate crew outfit (the one from the first level) is much more acceptable, the arms and hips actually make more sense (though it is a subtle difference).

It is a bit disappointing BW didn't take this into consideration when designing femSheps body.

Agreed.

And she can indeed kick some ass. Been watching some of her fights. To bad that a juiced Cyborg took her belt.

That's a shame when even your loved ones are spewing hurtful, toxic things. People generally wont go up to someone can call them obese because that would be mean, yet if you call a slim person anorexic it's ok? It's mind boggling to me that people in my country think that significantly fat=healthy.

Cuz making a muscular woman would totally destroy Bioware's artistic integrity.

I'd say femshep looks like an endurance athelete. She wouldn't win any 100m sprints but she'd crush you in a marathon.

Maleshep...I dunno a triathlete maybe?

Obviously you don't watch much MMA and/or have not been in the army.

I'd love for a mod kit to be released for the game, do we can finally have female Turians, Salarians, (more) Krogan, and alternate body types.

Also, if I could pick a"Brienne of Tarth" body type in each game for FemShep, I'd play the bejesus out of it!

Too heavy for a triathlete, IMO.  Most of the triathletes I've seen are pretty lean/thin/light (compared to BroShep).

Broshep has pretty much the physique of a middleweight boxer. Femshep has the physique of an office worker.

FemShep looked like a woman in the first two games. In ME3, she looked like a girl. Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with the changes BW made to her.

Second that. It wasn't as bad as, let's say, Witcher 2's Saskia (watching her hopping in that freekishly heavy looking armor was pretty LOL-wth) but it would be mostly welcomed to see a female warrior who actually looks like a warrior/soldier. Saying that Shepard looks anorexic in ME3 seems a bit far-fetched to me, though.

By the way, I recently replayed ME2 Kasumi DLC and there it's visible that Shepard has some musles on her arms.

I miss the ME1 & 2 female model. ME3 FemShep's boobs and butt are about twice as big now for no apparent reason.

Plus her boobs are higher and rounder now.
The new casual cothing model just feels wrong to me. Something about it is just off. It looks like it tries to look natural but it's not which makes it weird.
The old model was better and the animations were much better. Staff turn-over YAY
