ME 3.

It had so much potential. And even though it was great and achieved a lot.

I can NEVER forgive that ending.

I find it hard to compare really. For me, ME3 is almost perfection. The ending is questionable, maybe their error was to make it too cryptic, but I believe in IT and if it is true, wow (but DLCs are better be free to complete the story). If IT is really just a theory and not a fact, then I rate ME3 99/100. If IT is true (and it is), I rate ME3 200/100.

DA2 killed my love for Bioware and for the Dragon Age franchise. It was everything I didn't want. I felt like a cow being milked to death (where the milk is $$$ of course) because I fell in their trap and pre-ordered it. Never again.

ME 3

Its not living up to the beauty of the universe they created in ME 1 PLUS to the expectations they provoked with their PR startegy...

DA 2 was "just" not as good as DA:O, which doesnt make DA 2 a bad game...

Definitively DA2 for me. It wasn't exactly a bad game, it just sacrificed so many things that made its predecessor awesome in favour of making it more "easily accessible", which I guess includes the infamous Awesome Button that has opponents splatter into bloody gibs for added coolness and has the player character perform ridiculous cartoon jumps and overdrawn FX that would have any Michael Bay-movie be proud of.

The game's saving graces were its setting and the characters, although people complaining about the ending in ME3 have apparently forgotten how little Hawke's decisions actually mattered concerning the fate of Kirkwall. Ironically, whereas DA2 was clearly more about "railroading" than ME3 and a way more forced conclusion, it did have more varied cutscenes and dialogue than ME3's controversial copy-and-paste visualization of the various outcomes, which may be why a number of people perceive the latter as worse. Both games feature a clear gap between portrayal and actual story repercussions, just in opposite ways. DA2 always ends the same, but the display differs in details - whereas the various endings of ME3 have huge differences between them which simply aren't made obvious in the cinematics (at least in their current format; the upcoming DLC may well change this).

All in all, they were both good games - but in my comparison, ME3 clearly wins in the categories of both gameplay and storytelling. DA2 has one or two very emotional scenes as well, but not nearly as many nor as deep as those in ME3. Doesn't change that I would have liked to see the now-canned Exalted March expansion for DA2, though. Oh well...

Dragon Age 2. Changed a series that felt old school and had characters that moved 'right(ish)' for actual fighting with medieval weapons to a lololol awesome button suckfest.

ME3 was a higher quality product overall, just with an awful ending.

DA2 had problems throughout, showed a general lack of quality even if I enjoyed it quite a lot. But it's ending was merely a bit disappointing.

Just so I can get this clear...

Most of you think ME3 was dissapointing throug-out? Or the ending just stabbed your through the heart because it was so good/fun/enjoyable before it?

I'd say DA2...but I liked it. I'm going to say ME3 because of the above.

ME3

Dragon age 2 was ugly action game with reusable locations and uninteresting story. It effectively killed the franchise, but it didn't ruin the Dragon Age Origins. I can still enjoy playing DA:O kill the Archdemon and save the world knowing that DA2 won't destroy everything in the sequel. (Demo saved me from DA2, so thank you Bioware.)

With ME series the only way to save the Galaxy seems to be NOT TO BUY ME3. I rather take unfinished two part trilogy than a trilogy with a crappy ending that ruins the two previous games.

ME3's ending at the moment is quite a lucklustre ending for the trilogy, but the game does some amazing things.

DA2 I thought was an improvement over DA:O in a lot of ways. I guess I'm a sucker for voiced protagonists as I think it gives them actual character. It's a shame that the encounters were un-inspired, locations were re-used too much (doing it to a certain extent made sense with the setting) and the ending was a mess. Anders going nuts without the ability to influence it was bad, having seemingly everyone be a blood mage cheapened the Mage/Templar dillema, and the final boss fights, regardless of your alliegance, were horrendous.

I am so glad Bioware ditched the Illusive Man/Reaper boss battle concept for 3. That would have probably ruined it for me.

DA:Kirkwall is not a sequel. It is set in the world of Thedas, and makes references to characters from DA:O

DA 2 was not a traditional keep the same protagonist sequel. It is, however, the intended sequel.

Dragon Age 2.

That game killed my love for the franchise. Mass Effect 3 was excellent until the end in my opinion.

Dragon Age 2 honestly. I wanted to like it but wow it just wouldn't let me.

It's like that socially awkward kid that gets bullied, you try to like them, try to be their friend, but in the end you beat them up.

You guys, when I said "gay sex", and this will NOT be a thread to discuss sexuality issues, as I do not wish for it to be locked down. Ahem, as I was saying, when I said "all the gay sex", I meant that is was an element added in the final game [ME3] that felt like it was trying to illustrate a point to the player (regardless if the player chooses to participate in it or not) that didn't resonate, given that it was added in this late into the trilogy. ME2 and Mass Effect didn't have gay sex, why did the series need to have it now? When I watched End of Evangelion, I never understood what I was I was supposed to comprehend when I saw Shinji, a 14-year-old boy, kiss Misato, an adult female. I was gonna post a youtube link, but then it felt too weird.

Oh, and I'm not gonna even mention the hospital scene in the film, either.

DA2 just plain sucked, but after that disaster I went in to ME3 thinking "well, it's the other Bioware team so it'll be great". And then we got Starkid.

Mass Effect is RUINED FOREVER.

Mass Effect 3 without a shadow of a doubt. At least I still have Mass Effect 1 & 2 to play.

DA2

For me ME3 was OK right until the ending. DA2 started out average, and quickly went downhill from there.

DA2, no question.

I mean no game ever before managed to infuriate me...that was a new one. Ninjas dropping out of the sky (in heavy armor mind you, without breaking anything), two handed combat is a cheap Devil May Cry knock off and don't even get me started on the maps.

The only good thing I remember from DA2 was the mage combat and Varric. The rest felt like an insult.

This.  Leaving the ending out of the discussion, I thought ME3 was nearly a perfect marriage of ME1 and ME2, which is exactly what people wanted out of ME3.  I thought ME3 was great; no disappointment for me.

Not played the DA series so I can't compare.
All I know is that ME3 in general pales in comparison to ME1 and 2.

I have no respect for game companies who rush their games and produce a sloppy end product.

There is no excuse for it. If you aren't able to deliver then don't start on it until you can or at least make sure that the quality is equal of better than what has gone before.

Despite it being one of my most anticipated games of 2012, and although I quite enjoyed the story and the gameplay (up until the final hour), it turned out to be the biggest let down in recent memory.

Bioware's image has been tarnished (if it wasn't already by DA2).

Dragon Age 2 easily. Anyone who says ME3 is silly, ME3 is bloody amazing game aside from the last 5mins and better than Mass Effect 2.

Dragon Age 2 though compared to Origins is terrible.

Nothing, in any medium, comes close to the disappointment I feel towards ME3.

I genuinely believe ME3 to be the better game overall: a great experience with some problems and the worst ending I ever witnessed.
DA2 is an unpolished game with various flaws throughout, but I like it.
