It seems the difficulty gap between normal and hard is bigger then between hard and nightmare, interesting...

What isn't fully explained there is the behavioral changes of the AI. Some that that I notice are that the enemy tends to focus fire a lot more, enemy mages tend to use their powerful spells immediately, and heavy armour does not appear to draw more aggression.

thanks for that, exactly what I was after. I have been playing it on Nightmare, and there have been many battles that took a long time to beat, but I enjoy it.

nightmare is easier than hard.
btw, Derrek nailed it perfectly. If you can play the game on hard, you can play it on Nightmare. but if you are having trouble in normal, no way you can play it on hard.

Same AI exploits that are in Hard difficulty are still in Nightmare.

Wow.. thanks for that! Bookmarked!
I'll just add that if you had a challenging first run thru the game in Hard diff, without CE items and bonus DLC, a second run now in Nightmare with those bonus items and DLC items might really seem a lot easier than the first. (I'm talking about me specifically)
But there is also the experience factor. After a tough run it seems only natural that an average player would learn how to better build his/her char and control his/her party making much better use of tactics and individual NPC skills.

Im starting to find it easier again on nightmare and I am up to the part where you search for the urn of ashes. Before this every battle was tough, now it feels moderate with my level 13 party.

Hard - 50% friendly fire dmg
Nightmare = 100% friendly fire dmg
Nightmare = 100% friendly fire dmg

This is of course only true for the console versions. On the PC, it's a 100% friendly fire at Hard.Tonya777 wrote...

Nope. You just get kudos points. But you can't level up on them!
