If I did not like ME games I wouldn't waste my time in this place. But apparently everyone who doesn't display utter loyal fanboy'ism must hate the game - grow up dude.

Don't waste my time with your idiotic strawman. There are plenty of valid criticisms to make about the game without making up inane crap. The fact of the matter is that you are wrong, shotguns do not act like "quasi-sniper" rifles, and no one who'd spent more than five minutes using them would seriously claim otherwise.

What do you mean with sniping anyway? 30 meter? Because there are very few enemies beyond that range and shotguns will do fine like every other weapon in ME3 because BW has listened to folk like you who consider everything that requires something more than aim - click - die to be useless. Thanks for that :(

The claim that most fights occur at ranges where shotguns are effective and the shotguns are "quasi sniper-rifles" are two different things. Please don't attempt to move the goalposts, it's lame.

I used it 4 times, at the start, where you had to melee the husks.

And I didnt used any shotgun altogether, (in my first playthrough, and didnt feel any need to), it does not means they are useless.

Didn't say they were useless, but certainly lackluster in SP, especially playing as any of the caster classes.

yeah but I dont think casters were ever expected to use it as an important killing tool, case in point, adepts hvy melee being a "throw" of sorts instead of an execution style move.

Yeah, I remember it being a big feature in all the adds - so many shots of shepard omni-blading people. But really, its so slow i tend to just miss in sp situations.

Then again, I'm an infiltrator, so i mightve used it more as say, a vangaurd

It's a 1-hit-kill on normal difficulty. Why does that have no point?

The point is to look awesome, honestly. Makes melee much more satisfying than just the normal strikes.

Exactly. It's about feeling awesome. A noble goal in a video game.

i used it when dealing with husks when shockwave was on cooldown. much more ammo effective than aiming at 1 husk at a time.

With Inf, not so much, most battles there where in the med range, good smg spot.

^ This.

It's there to be used if you so wish - either as a quick kill option against trash mobs or (like me) you fancy a bit of spice and diversity in your combat set-pieces.
If it's not your cup of tea - then don't use it. At least Bioware have presented it as an option. As stated by others, there are easier way to kill mobs.

You contradict yourself and prove my point. When you can effectively engage enemies at long range (by ME3 standards) with shotguns they've become quasi sniper rifles. It's completely irrelevant what kind of weapon you're using in this game because everyone of em is effective in every circumstance which defeats the purpose of carrying & using more than one weapon. Heavy melee is equally redundant because there are always other (and better) options available.

Why heavy melee? Because Melee Synergy. Heavy melee a mook, then go find something big to shoot and watch how fast it falls.

I mostly see it as something to do to finish off a melee chain. Heavy melee is mostly a gimmick, but I appreciate having it. I think it might've been more effective if ME3's combat mechanics were closer to ME2's.

honestly i love heavy melee, it can be used in crucial time.

and because my PC full of itnernet connetion lag, i find it useful using heavy melee than light melee, in a few  i think it wil pop you directly to the enemy. kind like a bit teleportation.

Drell is useful using this with reave combination.

not bad addition

since I'am melee oriented soldier or shock troopers type (But using vanguard rarely). But I'm not doing it stupidly but surprisingly.

like destroying geth prime last time in gold using glass cannon class geth infiltrator (No joke)
