Cannot count how many times I have been last man standing on round 9 on gold having to solo 25-40% of the remaining wave, on a less than ideal class for it.
Annnnnd, there are other times where ish happens and I'm someone's gold revive badge.

I'm typical Trooper, and i think that it is good (better than most).
Also i found the another type:
The Apprentice
He have some good build, but usually out of place on selected level or enemy. He doesn't know what work and what not, ho he usually try charging banshees and phantoms. But he is constantly asking questions over mic, how such work, and how achieve that. He is able to support the team after few waves, but by that time everybody is usually annoyed by his questions.

The game starts and the other 3 sprint away shooting at birds and god knows what else. The game took a bit longer than expected, my score was a bit higher than expected but it was a serious blast and fun game.

In the lobby, you see that he has an adrenaline mod on and are tempted to mock him for it, but once the game starts is where he both becomes frustrating and a savior. It seems that he has a hard time staying in one place, sprinting around the battlefield without an apparent care in the world. He's the first to objectives, eager to take them so that everybody else can focus on killing things. The moment that somebody goes down, he's sprinting in their direction. He's kiting enemies into fields of fire. And when the rest of the team goes down, they watch in shock and awe as he dodges entire walls of rockets. He might mess up your shot on occasion, he may go down from trying to grab an objective before he has backup, but when the chips are down you can depend on him to avoid damage like an otaku avoids deodorant at a convention.
Naturally, the unlucky version simply gets himself killed without any redeeming qualities.

Usually participates in the first wave - perhaps halfway through, or so. Then, when the team is not nearby, he will crawl in a very very remote corner of the map, behind cover, and silently sob and contemplate his life. After catching the EmoZombie virus, this teammate will no longer participate in any activities. Reviving him/her is only useful if you want gold revive badges for everyone else.
A very rare variation, the Only Partially Neurally Degraded Zombie, will, under the control of viral mutagenic strains, shamble to another location on waves 6 and 10. That will only happen when the objective is group-hacking. If the objective is, say, single-hacking, then the Zombie will not move even if the hack node is right next to it. All Zombies magically become cured at the last seconds of extraction, should they still be "alive", and resume normal operating mode.

I enjoy seeing "The Han Solo-ist" in action.
They're usually a fitness focused, low level Support character who will break off from your once tightly knit squad to chase down 1 or 2 basic troopers or husks with their Shuriken a blazin' while spamming their 1-point-in-each tech powers. After a good 20 seconds you see your squadmate running back to your group. After a couple seconds of relief at the restoration of your team's unity you suddenly pale as you see they've brought not only both of their heavily wounded targets with them in tow but also the rest of the map's enemies.
good one, lol

This caring soul will do anything to rezz you even if you are in a cross fire from 3xturrets and there is a phantom standing on your head.
You will be rezzed ...repeatedly to the point that when she finally succumbs to the turrets/phantoms/kitchen sink you are just happy that the pain has stopped.

The unlucky-charm
No mather what difficulty he plays, around every corner there is a granade waiting to explode for him, a Banshee waiting for him with a one-hit-kill and every lost bullet seems to find his skull as if it was magnetic. This guy is just born for bad luck it seems and no mather how hard he tries, bad things happen. You can see he is not a bad player because he gets decent scores and when you are in trouble he will be around to magnetify all bullets to his skull. And even if he needs reviving 10 times on wave 3 he is still sitting behind his computer with a smile on his face.

A few more types I've seen:
The Infilfailure:
He can't make up his mind if he wants to snipe or use a shotgun, so he has both of them. He can cloak approximately once a minute and never uses this precious opportunity to revive a teammate or secure an objective, but to shoot an Atlas in the foot for one bar of its armor. After watching him for a while, you suspect he couldn't score a headshot on a whale from a hundred feet let alone mailslot a Guardian. Dies early and dies often.
The Frienemy:
This guy is more dangerous to your team than the enemy is and the whole team will breathe a sigh of relief when he finally kicks the bucket or leaves the match. They come in many varieties, from the well-known shot-blocking Krogan to the infiltrator that takes joy in headshotting the enemy you were going to set a combo off on to the guy who dies to three Cerberus turrets but doesn't tell anyone else about them so their would-be rescuer gets chewed up as well. Frequently in the game for exactly one match before they get kicked.
Captain Cobra:
He can use five Cobra missiles per match. You know this because he has used all five of them in the last several matches you played. If it's larger than a Cannibal, he's got a missile for it and he won't hesitate to use it. You're not sure whether to be happy you have him around because he makes short work of those Banshees or upset that he's wasting so many missiles you might need later. It's usually the latter, as he never seems to have any left when you actually need them.
The Eccentric Master:
He has some sort of hideously bizarre combination of class, mods, and weapons that you would never possibly allow in a normal game, but you were desperate to get going so you let him join. He then proceeds to clean up the entire map and make you all look like chumps despite being armed with a combination that no sane, rational individual would ever choose. You later try his build and do predictably terrible with it, then spend the next half hour wondering how he was able to pull it off.

HAX!!!11!!
In truth though, I wouldn't rule it out completely. I've been in a few matches with people who I'm certain were cheating. I know from experience that Sticky Grenades can NOT kill Atlases or Banshees in a single hit, that it is impossible to destroy an Atlas with about 4 or 5 shots from an Avenger III (with no mods!), and how are my biotic abilities recharging instantly in this match??
... Maybe we should add "The Cheater" to this list!

He loves running around with his shotgun-filtrator, and specced for melee cloak. Always off on his own, he kills silently, swiftly, and can even stay hidden from the most alert geth hunter. When you fall behind enemy lines, he suddenly shows up out of nowhere to give you a healing pat on the head. When you fall a second time, you realize he's already back at the opposite side of the map, though he was beside you but a moment ago. How'd he get that far?

Something seems fishy about him. His grenades go off like nukes! His smg is loaded with 120mm shells! His bolt-action sniper rifle shoots thresher maws! He throws more lightning than Zeus and more fire than Hades! He says he's just good, but you know better.
