The Random

Variation of the unlucky charm or noob, he has joined your silver loby with a N7 of 90 and charachter around lvl 10 but you playing your favurite class and with a friend (or competent player from your last lobby) so your not worried. The game begins and your doing fine and he is shotting his gun and score is going up then you get to wave 2 and you turn your back on him to whipe a mob only to notice he has gone down to the one trooper coming from the other side. Then during objective he is either ignoring the hack or getting killed on the other side of the map. Then wave 7 or 8 come along and your team is down early in the wave and the common consesus seems to be this one is gone let it go and we will try again but he has brough enough medigell for the the Turians to take back Palavin.

The Buddy Cop (or Cop to your Buddy Cop)

Variant/meld of The man and Charger. He is generally the same class as you and same play style as you and a big fan of face to face up close and personal combat, this guy is either right by your side hitting the guy your not hitting or doing the same thing your doing on the other side of the map. Come into his own in the late game when everyone else is cowering in cover or planing an escape when you want to go forward he is the one to say 'ill take the one on the left you take the right and meet in the middle'. When the dust settles and he has killed his guy a split second before you kill yours will often comment 'what took you so long?'

According to this I'm "The Trooper", although I usually come out on top so maybe I'm "The Super Trooper".

The Silencer

You always get the talkers in the lobby.  You know the type who always get top score and are superior to everyone else in every single way.  You hear all about how they will carry you and that they hope you can at least aim at the right team.  Thats not who we are talking about here, this guy is sitting down there listening to this the whole time.  He doesn't respond in the lobby because words are cheap.  The game starts and on Wave 1 the Hot shot knows he is in trouble.  The entire team is silenced by the constant stream of kills with his name next to them for the next 10 waves.  He gets all the objectives, revives all of the superior players as they try to keep up and makes sure you get full extraction.  You finally hear him speak in the post game lobby but most of the players rage quit before then.

What, no healer? Or is that a variant of the trooper? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

The Healer
Variation of the Trooper. Having played World of Warcraft as a Disc Priest scince its release, unlocking the Geth Engeneer was where he found his true calling. He ignored hunter vision, and is specced for max survival - his turret restores shields faster than Michael Moore can eat a strip of bacon. He is bunkered behind the squad, and you wonder what he actually does. This becomes apparent as you start start noticing that the enemy seems to have no shields them selves, and noone in the squad is on the floor longer than it takes for him to revive them. He finishes 4th on the score board and has 2 awards: +75 assists and +25 revives. You have none in the same category, but that doesn't matter becaue your ego is so big that you have to walk sideways out the door. Deep down inside though, you know that you should be sucking his dick, at least on a weekly basis, for the effort that he makes.

I do this on a constant basis the majority of the time, unless my team really knows what they are doing... It's fine though. ^_^
Feels great being a support player, aiding the team the most. I Enjoy my Quarian Infiltrator. Can't get enough of it!

The Rear Guard

Tends to play support classes. Finds himself in a game with novaguards and/or krogan who gleefully run through the map wiping out the clusters of mobs. Resigns himself to following behind the trail of carnage, shooting any mobs that somehow survive the destruction and/or try to flank our merry band of mayhem. Revives those who fall and continues following them, lending an overload, drone, throw or weapons fire when it seems necessary.

(This is me a few times, though it's okay since I don't care about getting the most kills. Even got on the mike and said "Uh... I think I'll just follow you guys." Got an amused response.)

 The Super Soldier

Plays well with the team, supports firing lines, kills quickly and efficiently and never goes down. He's encouraging, doesn't get angry, gives information about the battlefield but never shouts orders. He even laughs if he's caught in an insta-kill. He's mastered how to hold the line, run and gun, draw fire and knows when to break out the missile launcher. He revives without sacrificing his own life. Always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He takes on Banshees, Brutes, Atlas and Primes with practiced and proven tactics. He's more interested in getting the win for the team than personal glory but his score is still hard to match. Even with all that, he's the super soldier because when he's the only one left alive, he wins the wave, makes a joke and then gets into position for the next one.

Here's an idea I got from my experience with the demo...

The Dark Messiah

A rare variant of The Sniper, the Dark Messiah is capable of performing miraculous feats from behind the scenes. Whether it be the swift completion of mission objectives, or rescuing the entire squad from the brink of death, nothing is impossible for the Dark Messiah. Suffice it to say, he's a God-send... At first glance. Sadly however, doom inevitably falls upon those who fight alongside him. With each passing wave, the Dark Messiah loses a bit of his sanity, eventually transforming into an unfathomably viscous troll. Under the most dire, inconvenient circumstances, the Dark Messiah will begin a ceaseless barrage of 360-no-scopes. Fallen squad mates can only watch in despair as he gleefully circle-strafes their neglected corpses. In the unlikely event that all but a single hostile fall prey to his dizzying frenzy, the Dark Messiah will commence the dreaded 9000-no-scope, likely to meet his demise at the hands of a mere trooper. Be wary, for the Dark Messiah will stop at nothing to fail the mission in the most embarrassing, yet fantastic manner possible.

You forgot the Camper.
You can't spot The Camper before wave 3. He finds a good spot, usally in the tower on Dagger, with a good view to the enemy, and stays there. No matter what. He does not revive you even though you died just 10 feet from him. He will not help on hacking objectives even if its just around the cornor from where he is camping. In rare occations he even sets up tent just outside the hacking cirkel if it gives him the best line of sight to the enemy. All he cares about is getting top score, and he achives that by killing all the small snd medium enemys while the rest of the team is fighting a banshee or an atlas. He only decides to join that fight when he knows he can get the killing shot. You hate him for not beeing a teamplayer, but he gets the job done.

And than there are batarians, is there such a thing as a mix matched player, or maybe a swiss army knife type guy?

Someone who switches tactics or roles as the need arises, going from trooper to bodyguard to healer to kobra and back as the match progresses. I play like that, and I've seen a few others play like that as well, and with batarians, krogan, and other heavy melee character this works well, switching from charger to bodyguard to trooper to captain kobra and back depending on what happens in the mission.

 The Lucky Bastard

This guy has an N7 rating far below 120 and epic weapons that don't seem to add up.  Despite your 500+ N7 rating he has Black Widow III, while you rock up to the party with your Mantis X because your Widow's still only level II.  As a general rule he's not very good.  He'll just be mediocre for the whole game, while you wish fervently that you could just take his ill-gotten weapons off him and say "Look! this is how you use it!"

Well done!
I have no ill feelings toward any of the groups except the Rage-Quitter.  Especially if he/she quits around wave 5-6.   (I understand getting booted because your internet spazzeed out or the game glitches.  It happens to me from time to time.  But I rejoin as quickly as possible.  It's called committing to the cause, dammit! )
I am one hundred percent Healer, Trooper, supporter.  I don't care about the score and I'm always the guy behind you when you're at a terminal, or I'm the first to start hacking.  And if you go down, I'm right there.  (Unless you decided to get yourself killed halfway across the map with like 15 seconds before extraction.  Then you're on your own.)

Although Krogan tanking is just usually fun, even if sometimes you get swarmed and killed.  (And ****** off the rest of your squad.)  I can't help it.  It's that Krogan blood rage.Image IPB

And people shouldn't get offended by "The Girl".  I don't see it as some kind of swipe at females.  It's actually showing how pathetic guys get when they hear a girl's voice playing a video game. It's TRUE, which it makes it funny.  And sad.  We know it's sad.  But you have to understand, every dude's dream girl is a gamer chick.  A girl who wants to rock out on Mass Effect multi-player?  That's a keeper. The C. Norris

He never seems to be targeted by enemies, and getting hurt is apparantly not possible to him. When standing next to Banshees/Brutes/Phantoms/Atlases, they refuse to acknowledge his existence. Geth Hunters don't dare uncloak while he is in the area, and Cerberus Engineer turrets self-destruct whenever he comes within a 25 metre range of them.
He never misses a shot, and dominates the kill feed with his Predator I, constantly outperforming your Widow X per shot. By the time you have taken down a Marauder's shields, he has left a trail of 3 dead Brutes, a dead Ravager and 2 dead Banshees, and your full health Marauder is the only enemy remaining.
While waiting for extraction, you see him firing rounds at enemies at the other side of the map, yet the multiplayer summary clearly states that he was successfully extracted, and your team achieved the 'Full Extraction' medal.

The Mercenary

Whatever. It. Takes. That's his motto and that's how he plays it. Using Cobra missiles, medi-gel, thermal packs, and survival kits, he makes sure the team survives to the next round. Don't mistake his attitude as one of the team; he's not. He's much more, and much less, than that. At the same time. But, if there's one thing you should know, it's this: his goal is credits. Firebase White with Geth on Gold isn't what he's after. It's the thrill of the hunt and the promise of credits. And only two things stand in his way: The enemy and making sure your sorry ass survives to the next round.
