The real question is, is Harbinger bisexual, and what is his actual gender?
Inquiring minds must know.

He's genocidesexual.

I think my friend had the right idea when she said, "I think Kaidan...and, well, most of the galaxy, actually...is just Shep-sexual..."

There is supposedly left-over code in ME1 that a gibbed save can show how Kaidan was supposed to swing both ways. From what I've seen, it's buggy but there are still parts there. Kaidan wasn't so much switched in ME3 as simply allowed to be what they had already considered for ME1.

I think Cortez is a great character and his sexual orientation being set just makes him him...I play as a S/M and I love Cortez - whoever wrote him did a great job and gave him a lot of layers...I think the gay romances should be like his were he is gay regardless of whether the player character is...Kaidan was a little bit of a retcon but he never really seems too vocal in ME about his sexual orientation so whatever...I would have had an issue with Ash being gay (in ME3 after not being in ME) since it would have been immersion breaking and completely against character...

Isn't Kaidan the only bi character?

Liara is a weird technicality, but she has also been bisexual from ME1 so that'd nullify her out of this.

Allers is bi.

I was also going to say this. There's a reason why people picked Ashley over him, despite the fact she's also unpopular.

funny - I did not have one Kaidan alive play through until Ash in ME3 which actually made me replay ME to kill her on Virmire...

What, what, who is Bi?   You mean Kaidan?  He was already "Bi".  You do know he was supposed to be a LI for both Male and Female Sheps in ME1, right?   The videos are still in the game files, they disabled the option to quell the cries of bigots.

The only member of the crew I knew is gay was Cortez becuse he talked about his dead husband.  I was male Shep and never tried to get it on with Traynor as I had another LI from previous games.

Second thought, who cares.  There is an entire forum for relationships, you can't tell me there isn't thread about straight relationships there.

It worked in DA:O because the characters were done well, they were integral to the story and were written in such a way that it worked.

There's like two maybe three miniscule differences in romancing Leliana as a male than as a female. I don't know about Zevran but I imagine it's the same, likely less. So I don't know what makes them so well-written for bisexuality relationships.

To toss in Traynor and Cortez, then make other characters mysteriously bisexual (in the midst of chaos, we aren't talking about people who had a lot of "soul searching time here")

I haven't seen the scenes because I hate Kaidan and have no interest, but is this how it's framed? So many people keep saying it but they can't all possibly  be ignoring the possibility, now reality, that he was bisexual all along.

If Shepard was concieved in the series as straight (regardless of
whether the POSSIBILITY of him being bi was out there initially),

Not initially. Throughout. If I wanted to have my Shepard be a gay man nothing in the game would have said otherwise. Just because you're not given a romance for it doesn't mean it's not possible.

We know they will make more "Mass Effect" games with a new protagonist that will hopefully be compelling, and we know that it is likely that he/she will be concieved to have the potential to be gay as will characters that develop be able to be gay/bi. I think that creates ground to do those relationships properly.

Again, the writing won't change significantly and nor should it. Really, your problem just seems to be you dislike tacked on characters that you also see as exploitive. And that's fine. I happen to like Traynor but I know what you mean. But there's no separate writing for same sex relationships that needs to be pursued.

If you establish a character in 2 games as striaght, don't just toss in gay/bisexuality in the last game as a ploy to drive sales. Its either concieved and executed in the beginning or not at all.

Not established. You don't provide and I can't think of any real justification for "in the beginning or never".

because you're only allowed to be discriminatory and inflammatory if you're a part of the minority.

I wish you guys would stop with that thing. AFAIK these words have never been used by Bioware themselves. It's mostly a refrain of the "retake" crowd.

I believe passionately that
games are an art form, and that the power of our medium flows from our
audience, who are deeply involved in how the story unfolds, and who have
the uncontested right to provide constructive criticism. At the same
time, I also believe in and support the artistic choices made by the
development team.  The team and I have been thinking hard about how to
best address the comments on ME3’s endings from players, while still
maintaining the artistic integrity of the game.

Oh man the heterosexual privilege of that statement is just oozing everywhere

How in the heck is the s/s thread discriminatory or inflammatory?  The last time I checked, heterosexual romances are always and always will be options, whereas the homosexual romances are a new thing that some people apparently can't handle.   Please tell me how one s/s thread is discriminating you?

I'm sorry but on this I kinda agree with area51-silent. My personal justification being a sense of consistency.

Regarding Kaidan, who I don't remember very well, he atleast seemed in somewhat of a possible grey area. Changing Ashley seemed too cheap IMHO.

I'm all for "something for everyone" but through more unique characters than bland "goes with everything" characters.

Asari are monogender species, according to Codex.

Which means they have only 1 gender.

So yeah, Liara is bisexual.

Did I ever say they were?  But that's besides they point (because they are).

Apparently someone's never read the s/s thread, where bigots often made their opinion known.

I was just saying that anyone wanting a "heterosexual support" thread somehow feels threatened by the idea of one single, solitary s/s thread.  Because it somehow threatens the very idea of heterosexuality.

QQing everywhere

I swear to God I would settle for a Drell . . . though if Bioware decided to make Techno Turian an M/M romance option there would be much rejoicing.
