Kaidan was supposed to be bi since ME1. Bioware actually did it, the sub is all there, the voice is all there, the players discovered it and demanded it as it was originally intended. You can even get exclusive kaidan/MShep romance dialogue in ME3 if you import Kaidan/MShep romance from ME1.
Get it now?
Well technically that isn't ingame (atleast according to my personal definition) but I'll run with it since apparently people were kinda ambivalent in their Kaidan interpretation.

If you establish a character in 2 games as striaght, don't just toss in gay/bisexuality in the last game as a ploy to drive sales. Its either concieved and executed in the beginning or not at all.
Not established. You don't provide and I can't think of any real justification for "in the beginning or never".
I'm sorry but on this I kinda agree with area51-silent. My personal justification being a sense of consistency.
Regarding Kaidan, who I don't remember very well, he atleast seemed in somewhat of a possible grey area. Changing Ashley seemed too cheap IMHO.
Would not "beginning or never" apply to Tali and Garrus as well then?
I just can't see it as a break in consistency because it was never said and I never said to myself "This guy is straight". All I said was "This guy is Carth! I hate him!".
I'm all for "something for everyone" but through more unique characters than bland "goes with everything" characters.
This is what bothers me the most, and maybe I'm just misunderstanding. But if the intended meaning is that by creating exclusive characters it somehow adds to them then I'm quite disagreed. I refer back to a post I made on the subject months ago:
"Do you want gay romances? Than create
gay only NPCs! This would allow you to create more complex and
intriguing storylines and more coherent characters."
I don't see how it would accomplish any of these goals. It certainly hasn't with characters in the past, even BioWare's own. How was Juhani made more complex and coherent by this? Sexuality is a minor part of someone's identity, it shouldn't actually add any depth to them unless they were oppressed because of it. And that has limited viability for storytelling, perhaps none nowadays. I know I'm tired of it.

Because some people have deep-seated control issues and hate it when something bursts their bubble. I think.

Who says Lt. Cortez and Spec. Traynor aren't bisexual? Afterall, they never explicitly said what their sexual orientation was or was not. There's no reason they could not be made availible as romance options to both male and female PC's in future incarnations of the series.Manny_619 wrote...

She does? How flat? Maybe Shepard stirred up feelings in her that she was scared to acknowledge at the time. But as she and Shepard spend more and more time together, the walls might come down and Spec. Traynor will be able to acknowledge her true feelings.RinjiRenee wrote...

She reminds Manshep that she was attracted to EDI's voice for a reason.

You first have to establish they were straight. Not being interested before ME3 isn't enough evidence.
If female Shepard shows interest in Liara, Kaidan makes a comment that he didn't know she was interested in women. It looked like he was making an issue out of it. He should have at that time said he was Bi-sexual.
For a male Shepard, he stated that he was in love with a girl and also stated that a male Shepard who have loved her as well. I agree this person was not a good candidate for Bi-sexual. Sorry to disagree. Just don't see it for this character.

Aaaand this would have made him a poor candidate for bisexuality why? Bisexual men like women, too.
Kaidan explains to manshep that he was waiting around and being choosy, also mentions that manshep was always focused on the mission and therefore not able to really pursue any relationship with Kaidan.
Sounds legit to me.

How many people do you know that are aware that they are gay/bisexual from birth?
What a sheltered world you must live in, I'm sorry.

You don't go gay and you don't go bisexual. You are born the way you are. Please go read a text book on human psychology. This really should be a non-issue.
This doesn't mean you can't be sexually confused earlier in your life.
