The problem i have with hold position is that each time i want to go from Hold Position into Free Movement all my characters freeze up. During the freeze up i am not able to do any action or manual movement. This is very annoying in intense battles.

Example: A ogre decided to go after my main healer while i put Hold Position on i thought i would take control of the healer before the ogre gets near my healer i then put Free Movement on so my party members can attack freely while i run for it away from the ogre. Problem is by switching from Hold Position to Free movement my entire party froze up leaving my Healer vulnerable for the ogres attack. By the time the freeze was over the ogre had already grabbed hold of my healer and crushed it to death soon after my entire party got wiped out.

Does anyone else experience this annoyance?

Not directly, but i have encountered many glitches too. But anyway, if i have interpreted the AI scripts correctly, there is a thing like a "condition check trigger" after which they decide what to do unless other conditions hit them i suppose (which dont if they are on hold?). Which is meant to increase performance these triggers dont fire constantly, perhaps on a xbox not so often im not sure. Which in turn create the critical break you encountered. Totally different on the PC, if you freeze time. Im just guessing mind you.

In effect i wouldnt wonder if this is "by design".

Well that problem happens quite often with me. I go from hold to free movement and even though im pushing forward on my joystick for the character to move forward they are frozen there for a good second or 2 before they actually start doing anything. And with the tactics sometimes they will just stand there in the middle of a fight doing nothing. Even though their personality trait is set to aggressive which means that they should continually attack and use their tactics that are available to them but they don'. And Yes that is VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!

That has got to be my biggest grip with the game. Sure i have seen quite a few invisible characters speaking to me and often the beginning of script falls silent but those do not bother me at all. Its the pause that gets me in a panick. Especially when positioning is very important to survival. Still loving the game though just... FIX IT, FIX IT, FIX IT! (SNL guy)
