"There is even an exchange rate.  $1=32000 cr.  The fact you can earn them in game means EA is paying you about $6 an hour to play gold matches."

Please stop pulling things out of your ass and smearing them all over this thread. It's nauseating.

OK, back on topic of trolling, in game...
Had just set up a lobby for a groups that had physically stopped by to play, but forgot to set it up as private. Before I could change it, it got filled. The others told me to go ahead as they were going to get some food. When they returned, we had just gotten to level 10.
Then ... <dead>, <dead>, <dead>
And they started asking me to just die.

I ignored them and started finishing, they get back on the mic and start spewing at me, I tell them to quit if they want, I will just get more players.
One of them rage-quits (with the rage spewing forth into the mic as he left). The others say, "Well, where are you going to get more players now?"
Having seen what is going on, one of my team mates jumped in, and says "He gets them out of his pocket when he needs them."

The second one quits immediately, but the third just says into his mic, "No way!"
Another team mate has joined by this time and introduces himself with, "Yes, way!"
The last guy quits immediately at that point.
We didn't finish to extraction, because we were laughing too hard.

It's not digital theft, they are credits earned in game. Exploited? Yes, but that's an error in the game itself, not going online and downloading hacks to stock up on digital currency. If it was such a huge legal issue, they probably would have fixed it in the beta.

It is.  There is even an exchange rate.  $1=32000 cr.  The fact you can earn them in game means EA is paying you about $6 an hour to play gold matches.

They may not be fixing it because the amount stolen is less than the cost to pay developers to fix the game.  Or they're just lazy.  They lost $300M this last quarter.  They aren't exactly known for their keen business sense.

You can say EA is paying me to play the game when they start pumping gas in my car. And the fact that they are one of the largest game publishers on the planet would infer that they do, in fact, know their business sense.

Nice. And I still dont understand how this is being allowed to continue in MP. I have never done any exploiting in a game and cant understand why people do it in the first place.

I can.  Store system sucks.

It helps that I'm morally grey as well.

Of course, since I already have my geth characters I don't care enough to actually do this.  I play for fun and enjoy my random matches.  Still, if I could be bothered to get a group together I'd totally have a glitching day for mass credits.  It may still happen if they don't fix it within the next week or so.

he should be banned for trolling and i would surely block you. i dont get why people have a problem with this in a CO-OP GAME.

this is just sad to read, you are so weak

thank you for giving such an elaboate counter point.

Because the case in point was such a literate and argumentative masterpiece to begin with, right? Give me a fudging break...

Also, I totally buy packs. I think I enjoy it more than actually playing my character. True story.

"i enjoy throwing money away more than i enjoy something meant to be enjoyable"

i cant possible begin to understand the logic.

Mostly because the surprise of opening a pack provides a dopamine release similar to gambling or buying a lottery ticket. So, it is logical, but if you meant it is not rational, then you have a point. It's irrational.

The pack system here exists because it was succesful in the Ultimate Team feature found in EA Sports games. That system was succesful largely for the reason above, which is also why card pack activities like Magic: the Gathering or sport card collecting have proven so successful and profitable.

EA has adopted the dual currency pack system across all of their products. I make games, so understanding the online monetization strategy of an industry titan AND getting sweet gunz AND getting a dopamine rush ... is actually an amazingly efficient use of my money.

Reported.  Though I know it will do no good.  These forums aren't a place for civilized discussion, as much as I pretend they are.  It's unclear to me why you feel the need to insult me, as I was defending your actions.  And I'm hardly pulling things out of my ass.  There is an exchange rate.  Bioware/MSFT points cost money.  Points can be used to buy in game credits.  Thus, by the magic of logic, money can be used to buy in game credits.  The exchange rate is approximately $1=32000 cr.  Competent groups of four people can earn about 75k credits per person in one gold match, that will take them 20-30 min. to complete.  So they're effectively making $5-$6 an hour.

Pretend they're giving you Mass Effect MP gift certificates if it makes this concept easier to swallow.  The fact remains they're giving you something with a definite monetary value, as set by them.

EDIT: And to the incoming response that it's not real money because it only goes one way; false.  ME MP credits are a highly illiquid asset, but they aren't completely illiquid.  I can think of three ways you could earn cash off this game, and only 2 of them would technically be against the rules.

@DIY.

You voluntarily entered a contract with EA games, which stipulates you will not explot glitches. Doing so is breach of contract.

Please stop accusing others of being a child when you're clearly not ready for the life of an adult. Don't sign contracts you don't understand. You'll end up as a human centipede iPod, eating other people's excrement. Seriously, its a thing.

I actually didn't know that was a sitpulation in the contract, I have a clear stance though, if the Dev doesn't like it they can fix it.

Banning for exploits ins't the industry norm. Banning for cheating is and that suystem has worked pretty good so far.

You think I'd sign anything with EA games? You know...the company that beat out BoA as worst company of the year? Not likely.

I don't even know what to say to the child bit, mind your own buisness?

Actually.  You do.  When you hit the stupid little "I agree" button.  Ya know, before you can install content.  Or use it.

Electronic Signing is the same thing as affixing your signature.  Has held up in courts across the land.

DUDE! EA should hire you as the online gaming police! *Sarcasm* Get a life. Its an exploit that affects no human except the tards lining EA's pockets with real cash for Randomly Generated Digital characters and gear. Get over yourself. The fact that you actually read the liscense agreement doesnt say much for your social life. which is, well on here and most likely facebook. Go outside sometime man.

I don't know about their social life but it shows they have at least a passing interest in knowing what they are signing themselves into by law. Sounds pretty smart to me.

Actually banning for exploits is thei industry norm, Blizzard have done it many many times.
Also just because this guy read the Liscense agreement doesn't mean he has no life,  that is a stupid assumption.

maybe he read it while walking to his Ferrari on his way to go swimming in his money pit with 3 playboy bunnies.
