Hopefully after the war that idiotic Dalatrass got removed from power if you cured the Krogan.

Dalatrasses are Salarian family heads, and they each hold a lot of power. I imagine the Solus Dalatrass is getting mad props for Mordin's sacrifice.

Or mass hate, depending on which side of the argument holds the most power in the Salarian union. Overall though, it seems common feeling (Among the STG at least) is that Mordin did the right thing.

Not only that, but Weekes believes that had the Asari not cheated via their Prothean Beacon/goddess, the Salarians might have been first. They were the only race to discover the citadel without outside help.

Yep. Really puts the question of "why do the relays need to be destroyed?" really in perspective, especially in light of the fact that over the course of at least two and a half millennia salarians didn't figure out stuff like IES and QEC tech on their own. Even the salarians were technologically stagnant for that time period.

The tech may have come in handy for the crucible but that's all I can see really aside from raw military strength that would be useful. I don't see intelligence being useful against reapers in a conventional sense, I mean good if you get warning that they are coming your way buuuut then what? Stay and fight anyway or leg it?

Intellingence would certainly be useful against Cerberus, which is part of the war effort.  And the raiding and sabotage style of warfare that the STG uses is basically what Shepard does, so I don't think you can say that wouldn't be useful against the reapers.

But anyway, they're supposed to have a powerful conventional military too.  Like twice the number of dreadnoughts that the alliance has, and extremely high tech.

Very good points, I think they were just poorly represented in terms of War assests then...either that or the dalatrass didn't make good on her promise and only provided a token force?

The Salarian First Fleet war asset entry answers this.

Explains what?  It says that they've got a powerful and high tech military, which doesn't do anything to explain their contributing about the same to the war effort as a single Krogan clan

Since when is the strength of a military a sign of the worth of an entire people? Oh yeah, since the beginning of human civilization. Perhaps the Asari are less inclined to the opinion that "might makes right."

That their navy, while respectable, is numerically weaker than the other Council races including humans. The Third Fleet entry explains their ships may have bleeding-edge technology but aren't built for heavyweight fights of attrition.

And, as far as war assets, remember that it's all lumped together into one total value despite being four different subcategories: Sword, Shield, Hammer, and Crucible. The krogan are much more formidable as a ground force than other species' and therefore would impact the success of Hammer more; whereas they wouldn't affect Sword or Crucible at all. Don't ask me how that translates how the pretty RGB beam doesn't blow up Earth.

In other words, the Reaper War is exactly the type of war in which the Salarians are useless.

Except for Kirrahe, he's a boss.

The Salarians founded the council with the Asari... I think it would be weird if they weren't part of the club that they invented?

Salarians have relatively short lives so they had to use their wits to adapt to the galactic ambience. Their STG forces form the bulk of the military and operate on a "sneaky-sneaky" principle. They're also a highly intelligent race, much more than humans.

A council isn't formed by military strength alone. Intelligence is one valued asset over anything in the leaders of entire races.

The Salarians have the problem that their kind of warfare is pretty much useless against the Reapers.

The kind that lets you be a pole dancer for a century before squirting out a ton of kids, and eventually sitting on the couch all day eating bonbons and ****ing about the weather.

Christ, how idiotic were the protheans to think that worthless race was the next cycle's best hope against the Reapers?

It's realpolitik. The salarians are a Council race because they are wealthy and powerful enough to impose their will on others.

As for ME3, I think the salarians held back alot of their forces for their own defense.
