Well said.
The beer analogy made me chuckle as I can't drink beer or wine. My body finds it hideous and will give me shudders for ever sip and a headache very quickly. It felt about right for the Mass Effect 3 ending. XD

Booze makes me crook too. Shame as that endgame needed drowning out.

I think Taboo is saying the arty decision was shoved in with the thought it would work, something confirmed by Mike Gambles misunderstanding of folks reaction.Poorly thought out arty, but an attempt nonetheless.

I think that's really what the issue is. You'd be surprised about how many times I've heard people say that a film is poorly written when it's trying to be art.

Unfortunately as it stands now I see it as very poorly done art.

This beer tastes awful!: Bioware's mistake of serving you "arty" beer.

I like art films a great deal, unfortunatley a great majority of people do not, and I think has caused a great deal of anger on the forums. BSN users are not dumb but they are unfamiliar with what I would consider to be true "artistic" endeavors and much like beer your first taste is particularly unpleasent. It doesn't taste good, I understand and you don't have to partake in it if you don't want to. If you do continue to "drink" it will eventually taste better even if the experience is a bad one. I think this is where Bioware dropped the ball big time and where they need to step up to plate in this extended cut. They need to make it more palatable to a mainstream audience.

I have an issue with your second sentence in the body there. Not every BSN is art-film ignorant. I own all of Lynch's films. I have hitchcock movies. Two of my favorite movies are Mulholland Drive and Eraserhead, both of which are as far from mainstream and linear as you can get. I regularly watch artsy films with collegues and friends. One of my friends is a director whose works gravitate towards art house.

I know it might sound nitpicky but it bugs me when people generalize a particular audiance as being ignorant regarding a particular genre or medium.

I had a quick scan and couldn't find it, could you give me a link? I can't be arsed with more trolly rumours.

I know that and I'm well aware that some people here are film literate but quite a lot are not. The ending does feel like a bad David Lynch movie though. I was waiting for Dean Stockwell to come out and sing "In Dreams".

Plus you know what your getting into when you start watching a David Lynch movie...I love Mulholland Drive but dislike the ME3 ending because that's not what I signed on for

Still would have made a better ending.

I agree OP, people should just wait for the DLC, rather than continue to be destructive or bring up the same points a million times. The extended cut could add so much to the endings, you'll see things play out after your Crucible choice that wont appear in others.

Inb4:

Artistic integrity
Lots of speculation

Or it won't add anything and it'll make it worse.

I've been disappointed by Bioware/EA for the last time, I'm not expecting the Extended Cut to be amazing and solve all the problems of the universe (The real universe) like some people think it will.

Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be good, but if it's not, at least I didn't expect it to be and I can move on.

You can go ahead and continue assuming that it'll be amazing, I'll keep assuming that it'll be crap.

Agree to disagree.

Its hard to think of well done art films that would work with the reast of the game anyway. Even deeper sci fi like Hyperion, or Dick style work is a bit out of place in the me universe. The me approach seemed to me to involve taking concepts from these and fitting them to a standard narrative framework.

Im not too familiar with arty films beyond those that get a relatively wide release, but would be interested to know any that might fit the me setting. Only films that have sci fi that I can think of, is Hardware, or even Akira, neither of which really feel arty but just take trippy turns

He said the Mass Relays are disabled.

Which contradicts them being completely destroyed in the game.

So, take it however you like.

I've worked on commercials, documentaries, and I've even worked with the prop master from one of David Lynch's films.

It's my job. I do it for a living. It pays my bills.

When did I say anything about arguing? You said people should wait, I said I won't. You said the Extended Cut could add so much to the endings, I said that it might not.

This additions can directly make an impact on what a narrative does and how it is expressed. I believe that the current narrative is inappropriate because it does not reflect on past descisions and choices, nor do I find it particularly palatable.

You can fix quite a lot by mixing things around and by playing with the narrative a bit. Let me know if you want examples of things that have benefitted from editing and additional footage.

I just know someone's already going to get started on this, so let me start by saying Blade Runner. The theatrical cut of that was, in a word, godawful.

You guys need to understand that the announcement of the Extended Cut is an admission of guilt. Companies don't always come out and say they are sorry. You can get a feature lenfth film shot in four or five months so I can imagine that we're going to see some pretty interesting stuff.

Oh God yes. Look and see how much that film improved with the simple removal of Harrison Ford's narration!

Found it thanks. It wasn't about the EC, it was about the end in the game, the Control one. That makes sense as the control one is the only ending that we don't see the Relays completely exploding everywhere, exploding but not EXPLODING.
