I'm not speaking for "fans", for "community", etc. I'm speaking for myself. And I believe in IT, so the following post is according to that. If you don't know what It means, see this thread, but beware, even the title could be spoilers:

If the below post is completly wrong, well... see the comments near the end!
When I first finished ME3, I was already aware of all the rage that was going on. I didn't read anything on it because I didn't want to get spoiled, but I just knew I would be dissapointed a lot by it. Then I played it and was probably a lot less frustrated than the majority of the gamers who experienced it without being prepared.
Some weeks later, I found out about the IT (theory). It explains everything, connects all the hints I noticed everywhere. It's impossible to be otherwise, for me, because of those reasons:
1- It's the ME Team, still the same (almost)
2- They pulled off extremely complexe scenarios in ME3 involving a LOT of player choices, but can't do it for the finale?
3- How could a team so talented dropped to ball so hard in the final minutes of a near perfectly crafted trilogy with things that doesn't make any sense to the Lore THEY created?
4- They placed hints everywhere.
One thing I would like to mention was that I noticed a lot of weird things from the moment you are actually doing the "this is it" portion of the game, so 25 minutes approx before credits. A lot of things, visually... didn't fit well. I noticed it, but didn't think about it a lot since I wanted to see the conclusion.
I was so focused on going forward, not analyze everything, probably like a lot of people. I was focused on dialogs of propably the most important part of the trilogy, not the thinking behind it. So, the ending left an empty feeling inside me. Something like: "WTF". And I focused on that WTF for a lng time, got mad especially when I found out that I had not enough EMS to experience the secret clip (because no MP) even with everything done.
But I sincerly now think everything is intended and the ending we saw is actually the third quarter of the game, the forth and final one is coming in a DLC (or more). That's the only way you can force a player make choices and live with it (knowing the consequences) without everyone reloading and going in the same path. You let them think it's the finale.
Did they lied when they said that the ending would not be a A-B-C choice? I don't think so. Because we haven't see the ending. Weird that the current one is EXACTLY what they said it wouldn't be.
Did they lied when they said that to achieve the best possible ending, you don't need MP? I don't think so. I think that the secret clip is just another hint of IT. It doesn't change the outcome, it's just a "preview" gift you get if you played MP. Because if not, it's impossible (remember what happens, plus the end of Arrival???)
So, to me, the problem with the current ending is that it's too subliminal. When you play it and you know what are the plans (inside Bioware), it must be delightful. But outside Bioware, we don't have that knowledge. When we play it, we focus on finding out what's next and then BANG, the end in your face. Connecting the hints takes too much thinking and some are hard to see when focused elsewhere. Plus the rush to go forward and our impatience. EC will probably just make the connections easier to make and I would not be surprised at all to learn that it will be release exactly at the same time as the true ending DLC. But Bioware, that true ending DLC better be free, cause this will make everybody rage more than ever. To me, the idea about the current ending is clever and I'm really really impressed you pulled that off, but it's definitly too cryptic and subliminal.
At this point I think we should just trust the Mass Effect team, because they always delivered story-wise. I think they know what they are doing and we are in for a big surprise soon enough. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm currently REALLY ENJOYING the ending after seeing the IT video on youtube (follow the above link, first video at the end of the OP). I mean I'm just thinking about this, always. And I think that's what the Bioware intention was.
And if I'm wrong and they did drop the ball, well I will just be depressed later. In the meantime, I'm having a lot of fun discussing it with friends.
Thanks for reading my wall of text.
PS: I'm not fanboy, look at my post history. I destroyed Bioware multiple times about DA2, Origin, DLC marketing.
My take on Bioware errors about the ending.
