Forewarning before reading this.  There are people that liked DA2 so don't diss on anything that's being said.
What would you like to see in DA3:  As the thread states this a talk on what we as a community would like to see in the next game.  I know there's all kinds of threads popping up like this so I will be adding another lol.

Anyways this was taken from a group of people that have all sat down and voiced their opinions on the future of the next DA. We all know that not everything thats said in this thread will be even taken into consideration but it's the idea of getting these thoughts out into the open.

I was going to try and break each thing down to like's, dislikes but I don't think so lol. Instead even if some things where mentioned more then once I'll be leaving it like this. Because it's not from one voice but a group.

Please do NOT come into this thread bashing any of the comments or just being rude.  I want to keep this peaceful and I'd not like to see this get railroaded or I will ask the moderators to shut this down.

I know I'm taking a risk into running into this being turned into a dislike/discontent thread but that's a chance that's gotta be made. So please keep your comments civil and definitely add what you would like to see because this IS what this threads about.
Thank You and have fun

What would you like to see in DA3:
A stable LI.
Mass Effect style romance scenes.
MORE DLC.
NO more telling us one thing and doing another.
More convo options with companions.
Liked and disliked about DAO? Companions. In retrospect, up until the landsmeet I pretty much hated every mission. Dalish was boring, Orzammar long, and the Circle tower.... -__- Redcliffe was fun. Liked multiple endings. Hated all combat but warrior.
Liked and disliked about DA2? I love voiced, liked more of the companions than I did in DAO, liked most of the story minus a few plot holes that I can rp through. Wish it had more outcomes though. Loved all combat but warrior. O_o

What I LOVE about the series as of DA2?
The Friendship/Rivalry system.
The faster combo combat
Better UI/menus
The art style over all.
The Banter that can change.
Having an actual personality for the PC
What I hate?
The obsession with "broken" LI on the verge of insanity
The railroading we suffer in certain quests
Not being able to change companion gear that much.
Using plot induced lapses to stop the PC from doing things.
I really just want them to make things more open, and more customization options really.
Also less GRIMDARKNESS please? I grew tired of every LI being some broken tragic bird I must tend to health.

I dont want a game where 80% is all cutscenes.
I want a return of finishing moves, the Arcane Warrior, I want the Ranger Skill tree to return.
I don't want dungeons that are 15 minutes long. I want depth to them.
I want to be creeped out to them. The Deep Roads in DA:2 was a joke. It was fantastic in Legacy.
The Fade was another waste of opportunity. There should have been a sequence in the Fade where Hawke had to deal with his dead sibling or his father. We should have seen Hawke falter at the site of that.
I also DO NOT want 36 3X damage rings in my inventory
Drops should have variety.
I want side quests to have consequences and less ridiculous FEDEX quests.

With the exception of mage combat (which I think is great) I'd like to see something for the other classes between DAO and DA2. Yes, DAO was slow but I think DA2 is very choppy and less fluid. So something with the speed of DA2 and the...grace or fluidity...of DAO is what I would prefer.
I love the way they handled the dialogue in DA2 as oppposed to the "talking heads" we got in DAO but I would like to see the conversations with both LIs and other companions less structured. Yes, when you reach a certain point in the relationship keep the notification that someone needs to speak to you but add some other anytime convos that we, as the player, can initaite at any time. In both awakenings and DA2 I didn't like that I could not talk to my companions at will.
I'd like to see the romances less structured as well. Certain conditions will of course still need to be met to initiate and consumate the romance. It's very easy in DAO to choose when to go see Goldanna or give Alistair the amulet in order to pace the romance to your preferences for each playthrough. In DA2 it's pretty much do it now, in this act or it's a no go. I'd also like to see multiple romances/flirting play out in a similar fashion to DAO where you are confronted if you have initiated multiple romances at once. As well as the ability to end a relationship and move on to someone else.

Well that's a long post. I'm going to pull out one thing and bash it. You liked the overall Art Style of DA2. I think that's unusual. Would you explain what you liked about it?

Do you think the voiced protaganist can be improved? How would you improve it?

Mages. In pants.

Spell selection from DAO added to the animations and Magic Is Badass attitude from DA2.

Also, booty slider and booby sliders.

The booby slider doesn't ever make the boobs big enough. They need to fix that.

-Removal of the anime style melee combat from DA:2, that doesn't mean back to the awkward DA:O animation, but something believable and realistic

-Character depth to companions, the last game I felt that had true depth in supporting characters was DA:O, from ME:2 onwards they seem to have become an after thought.

-A non save the world storyline.

-Moral ambiguity, there should be no clear rights and wrongs as its a game dealing with medieval politics. Have choices and MEANINGFUL consequences.

-Tone down all the abilities at their max level, I don't want the endgame to be how fast I can spam AOE abilities.

-Remove the badguy closet from rooftops and make enemies have abilities you have to overcome via tactics and strategy.

-Remove the hand-holding chat wheel intention indicator. The game is intended for people over 18 right? So we should be able to determine based off the response what we are doing, not having a symbol telling us GOODGUY choice and BADGUY choice.

-More than one area where the game takes place. DA:O had forests, ruins, mountain tops, cities, etc... DA:2 took place 90% of the time in a city and a reused shoreline.

-Bring back the overhead traditional RPG camera.

-Being able to talk to a companion outside of a quest indicator.

-Being able to talk to people around and about cities; by this I mean actual conversation, not a V/O anecdote you can't respond too.

-Gear for companions.

-Do not force a multiplayer mode on us, make it optional and in NO WAY tied to SP.

-Hawke was a cliche rag to riches story which had a mediocre ending at best, DA:O gave us the option of choosing where and how we started, I'd gladly trade that for a non VOd protagonist.

-Boss fights that aren't absurd, the fight with the arishok was watered down and mind numbingly boring. How did you manage to create the fights before the anvil of the void but then manage to create an MMO mob with too much HP?

-No launch day DLC, see totalbiscuit's video for why its wrong.

Ok first of all your not bashing, your asking a rational nicely asked question :) Anyways on to answer a couple of your questions:

Any discussion about why someone likes a particular style when the other person doesn't is quite pointless, since it all boils down to personal taste.

For me, the DA2 style added more character to the game, by trying to make things more unique and giving people, places and cultures a distinct look and feel.

Just compare the Qunari from DA:O with their DA2 version. In DA:O they all looked like large, dark skinned humans. In DA2 they actually look like the mysterious, "alien" race they're supposed to be.

Also, the different cultures now all look unique. It's possible to immediately tell where someone comes from based on their looks. Tevinter soldiers all look different from those in Kirkwall or Fereldan. Orlesians also stand apart.

Last, the design of armor and weapons is a vast improvement, imo. In DA:O they tried to make them look too realistic. In DA2, they acually look like they're from some imaginary fantasy setting. Hawke's champion armor is the best example.

Do you think the voiced protaganist can be improved? How would you improve it?

Depends on whether we're talking about the voice itself or the way Hawke behaves or interacts with others.

For the first, it's get a different VA, but that is, again, down to personal taste.

For the second, I'd say make the paraphrases more clear, so there's no confusion about intent behind them.

Also, make sure the protagonist is proactive during the dialogue. Hawke did this well, by joining in banter between companions.

Also, keep the cinematic dialogue style. It really helps when people aren't just standing around starring at each other during the whole conversation. Having them move around, pick things up or simply look away a bit as if lost in thought helps keep the conversation real.

I myself want to see the romance style of DA:O in the next game, not that DA2's was bad but (gonna make me sound like a pervert) but I loved the scene with Alistair n my Warden and their first time, was more intimate and more detailed.

I don't want a six hour long dungeon crawl like in DA:O, which felt like they'd never end. DA2's deeproads where better for me. I liked how they did it with DA2 in Legacy, you could leave at some point.

I loved the voiced protag, and the conversation wheel because honestly I don't always need to read what my characters going to say, not in a video game. To me that's what books are for which I read plenty of. I don't go into a movie theater to sit their and read what someone's saying, I go to listen to the story, just like a game. I don't want to read. And if this makes me lazy well so be it. But again that's what books are for.

I loved the family, where you actually got to invest the story more with them, really got to know your characters background more.

I love how Dragon Age period sucks me in litereally with their emotional characters, one minute you find yourself crying, or going awww or even ranting at your screen because your pist at either Isabela running off or feeling betrayed. Those are also things that draw me in.

I loved the personalities that you could give Hawke, with the diplo/sarcastic/aggro options. Made Hawke feel more real, not like I was just playing another video game but part of a story that was coming to life.

I hated the reusable area's and the spawning enemies dropping from nowhere at times. Fixed in the DLC's.

I loved the DLC's atmosphere, the backgrounds and the details to surrounding areas.

I loved how Hawke was more interactive with companions and their comments, even when walking down the street, I loved it even better in the DLC's. I want more of that please.

I hated what some would call plot holes in DA2, there's a few instances that had me going wtf, especially the inbetween years (but that wasn't the only wtf moments lol), but I did find way to rp around those.

I loved the fact that Hawke wasn't a protag who was out to save the world. I'm not saying I want every story like that but it was a nice change.
I loved how Hawke had to work so to speak to get what he wanted, well I guess the Warden had to work too but the title Warden was already a given. What I mean about Hawke is he came to Kirkwall as a nobody who was penniless with no home and then he litereally had to work for it. He earned back his mom's home doing jobs n quests n even those meaningless FEDEX runs lol.

I loved the rival/friendship with my companions, made me work even harder and I love how even if I rivaled them it didn't make them leave, all your saying is I don't believe in your way of thinking but their still with you unless you don't complete certain parts of their quests and they could turn on you. Only one I've done that with was Fenris lol. I always rival Isy because by the end of the game you can litereally see the change that the rivallry has touched her. It's not just about herself anymore but about people in general and helping them, she's overcoming her past.

LOL and I see this has become another long post so I think I'll end it here for now. Anyways these are things that I enjoyed/didn't and some reasons why. Not everyone will agree or like my reasons but for me these are mine.

There's a difference between medieval and fantasy. Also, this is a problem I had with Dragon Age 2. In no way do I see Dragon Age 2 as politically motivated as many  people claim it to be. Sure, you might have to remove a foreign group, the Qunari, for a person in  a high position of power, but in terms of actual political content, Dragon Age 2 is quite lackluster. I hardly consider saving a Viscount's son and choosing between a group of insane templars or insane bloodmages politically juicy. Origins on the other hand, handled  the political enviroment quite well. The conflict for Orzammar's throne and the Landsmeet are what I view as politically motivated, and both were handled well. Dragon Age 2 recieves too much credit for being packed with political content, because Hawke isn't directly involved in the conflict between the mages and templars until the very end. I'd sooner give credit to Dragon Age 2 for having a decent Deep Roads level than being a paragon at utilizing the political envirmonment in a videogame.
