So I just got the Falcon rifle, and.. what am I supposed to use it with? Weighs even more than the revenant, shoots super slow, and takes like 6 body shots to kill a Marauder on silver.. I feel like it does more damage if I shoot at a wall or the floor, and it explodes on nearby enemies, but mostly it just bounces away..

Anyone know how to make prectical use of it, or that other explosive rifle (haven't got that in MP, so wouldn't know if it's any good)?

Honestly I don't use it. It's level IX, but since I don't host my own games or use ARs in general the gun is just meh. I often hear people praise its crowd control potential though.

If you can clump up enemies, usually by staggering those in front, you can do a lot of damage with falcon. I really like it to trigger tech bursts with disruptor ammo.

Falcon + Marksman + Cryo III = Fun.

First couple times I used it, I thought it was a dud. What a waste .. especially with it being in the assault rifle class. Then I slowed down my fire rate slightly, put cryo ammo in it and things began to die at a staggering rate.  Enemies tend to stagger, then freeze then with a 2nd shot or with a nice tech burst or grenade, they shatter and tie.

Falcon + Disruptor ammo + tech power = mega tech burst spam.

It's AoE damage and crowd control.

Throw it on either a Human or Turian Soldier and it can do quite a bit of damage.

Though you have to be hosting to avoid the misfire bug.

I hate it and I never use it, so naturally I have it maxed out at level 10

Best setup I've found to do with it is on a character with maximum weapon damage and Level 3 Cryo, Incendiary, or Disruptor Ammo. You'll actually be able to make yourself fairly useful since your ammo powers will generally affect several enemies. This tactic works well with the Striker as well.

It still works well off host just need to be patient and fire shots in a steady rhythm. If you just spam the trigger it will fire blanks unless you are host.

not sure what u mean by marksman but i'd say: falcon X + ammo mod [10 shots b4 reload] + dmg mode + ANY cryo ammo - aim at groups of enemies [3-4] and shoot through the entire map, the weapon is very precise when you learn how to assess the angle.  - biggest problem are lags when ur grenades fly past enemies or dont fly at all, also on gold there is too little ammo and stopping power, however stagger effect is awesome

It is best used for dealing moderate damage to GROUPS and staggering/controlling heavier enemies

It has moderately high damage and splash damage, but it's rate of fire is so incredibly slow that its DPS drops heavily. So this means nearly any other weapon is going to kill a single target much faster than direct shots with the Falcon.

The damage in multiplayer is significantly lower than in the Campaign. Ubsurdly lower.

It's crap now. The gun should really have just been deleted from the game if they wanted to nerf it so bad. If I see anyone in a lobby with it equiped, I vote to kick.

I only use it with Human Soldiers.  I use capactiy and damage mods.  Adrenaline Rush makes the damage kinda ok. You also HAVE to use an ammo power with it or it doesn't seem to cut it.

If you do that....it's ok.  Not great, but ok.   Lately, I've been using the striker for this build. It's kinda the same thing.  More of a YMMV thing really as to which is better.

I suppose its ok,prefer the Striker over the Falcon and prefer the Revenant over the Striker.

I have problems with guns that fire blanks if your not host, plus being from Australia I get latency,so also a lot of wasted ammo/shots.The Revenant dosnt suffer as much as the Striker/Falcon with lag.

it staggers groups, potentially saving your squad from getting shot at for 2 seconds. Not a good killing machine any more.

So it weighs a lot and has really poor SINGLE target DPS... So what?

Against a GROUP of enemies you can wipe them all out at least as fast as you could one-by-one with any other gun, WHILE keeping them perpetually staggered so they can't run away or shoot back.

Even a level 1 cryo grenade on it seems to have a 100% freeze rate on lesser targets..

It can be launched over cover to proximity-detonate just above something's head, and if you shoot it right it can detonate behind a guardian's shields...

It is pretty much 100% guarunteed to stagger ANY non-elite enemy and also turns Phantoms into a complete joke (so long as you fire the first shot BEFORE getting stabbed).

How does that not seem like a good gun to you people? So you have to also take along a pistol or smg or use powers to kill single targets. It's not the only gun that has a very specific use, y'know.

Oh, and compared to the new striker: Exact same weight, same projectile behavior.. I think same blast radius but don't quote me on that... the notable differences here are that the Falcon does more damage per individual shot while the Striker gets higher DPS going with sustained fire, IE only when you have the luxury of being out of cover for sustained periods. You'll also be hitting the ammo piles every other minute, using the Striker, whereas the Falcon will usually see you through the entire wave and then some.

How about that KoA:R-weapon, the red one, is that in MP?

I have a friend, who often plays geth engineer with a falcon. He seldom hosts and he literally obliterates everything. So in the right hands the falcon is a beast.

It's extremely good if you're the host - it's reasonable AE damage and near continuous AE stunlock. If you're not, a lot of the grenades tend to disappear and it's nowhere near as effective.

This weapon is excellent even after nerf, largely underrated by most people on these forums.

It's mostly a crowd control weapon, so indeed its DPS on one single target sucks, but it goes up tremendously if you're able to hit several ennemies with each grenade.

It also has very interesting properties that many other weapons don't have, like applying ammo effect on all targets, bouncing to hit hiding ennemies, taking ennemies out of cover if you fire right over them (this also works to damage guardians by the way). All these things a striker for example cannot do except for applying ammo on several targets but it has smaller AOE.

People who think the falcon sucks just have no idea on how to use it, period. Or they just care about having 200% cooldown all the time.

imo i think of it as a support weapon or something on silver or gold , if i use it i use it to stagger enemies more than i use it for kills, same goes for the striker.

My soldier's weapon of choice. Fun to play, average damage and an amazing crowd control. Add cryo/incendiary ammo and it is beast. Add disruptor ammo and put it on the hands of a character with overload chain and nothing will stand against you.

The only and big downside is that you must host to use it properly. Otherwise half your shots are going waste.

Falcon X + Disruptor Ammo III + Overload = Tech Bursts for everyone!

Also, the Falcon is literally great for crowd control. It can stagger groups of enemies of any kind, with the exception of Atlases, Geth Primes, Ravagers, Brutes and Banshees.
