Have you people heard the news about Witcher 2? They are publishing an
extented edition for its conversion for the X-Box, with tons of new content, two whole big quests (which suppossedly are 4 hours gameplay in themselves), new weapons and armour for each of the three acts in the
game...
they pretty much adressed and changed everything the fans mentioned that wasn't so great about
the game in the first place and greatly extended the end with new sequences and a more detailed look into how your decisions changed the world.
All of this without any campaigns, without any fan outrage and if you already have the game you get all of it for free to download. 10 gigs of stuff, story and improved gameplay.

The lead designer said (not a quote, but essentially what he answered to an interviewer):
The people who buy our games, are our fans and  supporters, we don't want to rip them off, because they already paid for the game. The fans provided valuable criticism, we used it for the X-box version and we are not going to cheat the people who were already supporting us by demanding money for the extra content.

That is what Bioware should do, that is what EA, what Capcom and Square Enix
should do. All those companies who are just looking for ways to exploit us gamers.

I won't say if or how I played witcher 2 until now, but the first thing I did after I read all that stuff about the new edition was to order the game, because those guys deserve to get my money.

Yup. CDProjeckt is going to be a huge dev soon.

They're small and passionate but look how talented they already are. A lot of things in Witcher 2 are done much better than Bioware games. Where they really need to polish is the writing, character development and interactions. They have a lot of awkward moments in that game that just don't have a place for a game telling a serious story. It's like...one moment you're being serious in a conversation about when the next attack is going to happen...then you just change your tone to flirting and she ends up in the bed having sex.

Adult innuendo moments like that are fine but they have to be well placed. They're completely out of place in several parts in Witcher 2. It has a lot of plot holes too. I think Bioware is far better at character development, story and interactions. Witcher 2 is better at exploration, graphics, combat and choices feeling like they have weight behind them.

I wish Bioware used a consequence system like the Witcher games. I know it's not in their philosophy...I just don't understand it. Isn't that apart of making decisions? You don't know what is going to happen next? Just like in real life?

I think Witcher 2 is better than anything Bioware has done recently except ME3. Don't get me wrong though...Witcher could definitely use some polish in some areas too. It isn't flawless that's for sure. But that game is full of passion in it's development and you can see it everywhere. They do so many little things right.

A 5 minute ending isn't going to spoil the emotions I had throughout that game. Probably one of the more personal games I've played in a long time.

Witcher doesn't have that. Even though I played the first game too...I never really cared about the characters in Witcher 2. The story has plot holes galore, inconsistent writing, awkward moments in interactions and some bad voice acting. It's hard to take a story serious sometimes when you know you can VO better than some characters. That's not to say all VO is bad in Witcher 2, just some. Or in romance moments you don't get those "special" moments. It's more on "how to be a male gigolo" type romance...

Can't really talk about TW2, never played it (well, I did, but the combat frustrated me to no end.) so I can't really say anything about it, though I'm glad it's still releasing content, and for free.

I c+p'ed it from another board, where I posted it first.

Aridor, you should try it again then, because the combat is one of the things that was extensively overhauled, so that you really hit the enemy you want to etc..

I can't ignore this any longer.
Stupid Witcher 1 wont work I'll just skip it. I watched some footage of the dialog and I was sold. I'll watch a LP of the first game I guess but I'm buying this as soon as I can.

If you're on Windows 7 and trying to get the Witcher 1 to work...

Run it in compability mode on Windows XP SP3.

Right click-->properties-->compability-->click "run this program in compability mode"-->select Windows XP SP3--->Apply

Then when you're done, right click and click "run as administrator".

I've tried it. I'm not completely inept with computers.
It doesn't matter this job I'm starting sunday will force me away from my PC except on weekends so my choice of gaming will be mostly PS3 for a while. NO point in getting into it right now.

Lol no. Not a single Bioware game I've played comes even close to having a story that I find as complex, intricate, intelligent and mature as TW2 (nor does it have the amount of plotholes you suggest. I can only think of one that is glaring). Nor has any of their games ever had such an impressive cast of characters as that of TW2.
Especially not with ME2 or recent debacles like DA2 and ME3.

As a serious Jack fan, I'll hold you to that. On the other points of story telling, There have been many games that top BW. Seriously take a look at any of the popular point and clicks from the 90's and you'll see that BW are lightweights in story. Their saving grace, for me, is making likeable characters, their story follows a very shallow template.

Well it will depend on taste as well. For instance, I find Jack a laughable character because of how one-dimensional and dull I find her (liked her in ME3 though).

I appreciate TW2 characters more than Bioware ones in general, but TW2 characters are generally more subtle and with little melodrama as opposed to their Bioware counterparts (melodrama for me being a substitute to actual multi-dimensional characterization).

I agree,as Bioware Mods ask fans to do their job...
Hey all,

There's some confusion as to exactly what the 'report' button does. What it actually does is send a report to the EA community staff. However, as they receive a lot of reports across a number of different forums, it can sometimes take a while for them to respond.

If a user is being abusive, hostile or violating the rules, please PM a moderator. We want these forums to be a place where people can discuss our games in a civil, respectful fashion, and letting a moderator know when a user is violating these rules is your best course of action in ensuring that this remains true.

To reiterate - if a user is violating the site rules, or is simply being hostile, don't engage. Just PM a moderator and then continue your discussion.

Thanks!  social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/11479878
Why are you here again? To let the ending of ME2 get spoiled? I bet people were messaging mods that day...

So why not use another company's work to make yours(Bioware) better.

If the Witcher 2 stays along it's current path of enjoyment(IMO) for me,I will be completely sick with Bioware. EA has always sucked. Madden/Sport fans know this.

EA's only made a handful of good games. Two from BW, Mirror's Edge and the Dead Space series so far. After that EA isn't about their product and are about profit.

@KoP

Well I have to disagree about Jack, but I'll admit a lot of it comes from from head cannon and not just what they wrote.I'm waiting until I'm done studying before I rip open my case, so I can devote an entire uninterrupted day playing it. Until then I only have what I know from TW1 and what I've read to match it up to. Unfortunately for BW, TW2 has a better reputation by word of mouth than all the bought reviews could provide.
