BTW Tali is hands down the best squadmate to take against Geth. Even against Cerberus she can be pretty damn useful.

agreed on tali she's excellent against cerberus and geth while still being good enough against reapers

in regards to ashley Ive heard that marksman + revenant can be rather effective, however its true that for the most part all she has is a gun

Yeah, well... she has two guns, and they're both from the better classes, and she's got Marksman to back them both up. Trust me, having a Black Widow/Revenant-wielding grenadier running around proved much more useful then Vega.

I found she performed a lot better with the Indra myself. Tried giving her the Widow, the Valiant, and the Javelin at various different points and she'd rarely fire and often miss when she finally did. Full auto, though, she ripped stuff up, and I got a lot more mileage out of her disruptor ammo to boot.

She is annoyingly dependent on a fairly specific loadout to be effective, though. It's not like Liara or EDI where you can just slap whatever SMG you like on them and they'll merrilly headshot away - the burstfire bug makes her (and all the AR squadmates) pretty useless with 98% of the ARs in the game, including all the ARs you start with.

James. He's all passives other than his grenades and carnage, which do little against shielded enemies and only slightly more than marginal damage against armored enemies.

I haven't played with Ashley yet, so I can't speak for her.

youre ignoring carnage and incendiary ammo, excellent abilities with combo potential plus he being a tank squadmate so dmg is not his focus

To be honest, vanguard was so OP that I didn't need to worry about squad makeup except for lore purposes.

I think this thread shows that Kaiden is the most worthless. LOL only one person has mentioned him. I hate him and there is hardly a need for him. Even if you do like him he spends half of the game in the hospital.

Tali and Edi are insanely good on the geth missions. The geth drop so fast.

I love Javick but his voice, dear lord I can't stand it lmao why is he Jamaican.

Well if he's only mentioned once in a thread asking who the weakest squadmate is, I would think that would show that he isn't worthless...might just be me though. I don't have an opinion on the character, but the hospital knock would apply to Ashley as well. That really shouldn't be a factor when rating either one's effectiveness anyway.

She's good for powers, but she goes down waaay too fast compared to the rest.

Some people mention Tali, but if you give her the Geth shotgun (and don't forget to switch weapons), use the combat drone(don't summon in front of the enemy crowd) and order her to stay in cover, she is one of/maybe even the most useful squadmember.

Vega's grenades are very useful. Mostly, because you save them up then unload them on that one boss who is giving you trouble.

Liara dies a lot, but she's totally awesome for setting up combos for you.

For non-Geth missions I'd go for Tali as weakest.

Tali and EDI extremely uselful in my playthrough. With 4 drones, a turret, and a decoy all out at once the enemies REALLY never got around to actually killing any of us. So their lack of survivability was never an issue.

Most useless? I want to say either Kaiden or Ashley. Ashley did barely anything but shoot(And squadmates don't shoot very hard). Kaiden... Well Kaiden seemed very inneffectual. I know he can set up biotic combos, but he never seemed to do much else.

This is a rediculous statement. First of all, his accent is nigerian. Second of all, why is Shepard's accent american? Why do Quarians have European accents for the most part? Because they have to have a voice. We can't just miraculously eliminate accent as a factor.
What is his accent supposed to be.

Put Falcon AR on Vega and he's unstoppable. Incendiary Ammo >>> Disruptor Ammo. Frag grenade >> Inferno Grenade. Not sure how can anyone objectively consider Ashley better than James.

For those of us who dislike NG+, an objective consideration would be the fact that the Falcon AR is not available until nearly the end of the game. For the other 90%, Ash's passives and sniper rifle make her a significantly better option (particularly considering the shotgun choice is a little thin on the ground up until mid-game, too).

The Particle Rifle isn't  a bad option for him, though.

Liara really should not be mention in this thread. She is one of the best Squadmates in the game. Her squishyness is the only thing that sort of balances her out, but even still her potential damage output with setting up BEs, her weakening targets with Warp, and just general crowd controlling makes her easily one of top end Squadmates. If she's dying a lot, which i personally did not find to be the case even on Insanity, then really that just means u got to do a better job of managing ur squad.

Yes, PR would be my 2nd choice for Vega. That said, Ashley is not as good as James, regardless of weapon loadout. Simply because James has much better ammo power and better grenades. And you don't get Ashley until mid-game, so I am not sure why you said that "shotgun choice is a little thin on the ground up until mid-game ".

Ashley is a great squadmate for engineers and sentinels squad disruptor ammo + overload = win, so I don't agree with her being a bad squadmate although I understand some classes wouldn't find her useful, maybe a bit redoundant with James or Garrus.

I don't know who would be the worst squadmate because in my opinion everyone has some use and can shine in a particular situation or with a particular build. Those I used the less were Garrus, EDI, James and that's only considering their powers usefulness. Speaking objectively I would also add Tali as a not so great character but I use her a lot just because of her character.

I found Javik to be really overpowered in general, particularly thanks to his grenades, more than decent health for a biotic, and for his weapon loadout. Liara was always useful for her wide range of biotic abilities although a bit squishy. And I used Kaidan a lot of times for his versatility too.
