I absolutely agree with that statement. However, it's fun to muse about LI romance packs and who we'd like to see. But yeah, I would much rather BW put their efforts into sweetening the ending, hopefully with gameplay--although I keep hearing back and forth about whether that's going to happen or not. But if that at least is somewhat worth playing, then hells yeah, give me some more of that sweet, sweet LI time.

I'm also quite a Thane fan. He was my second favorite, and yeah, I knew he was terminally ill, but I guess I was secretly hoping there would be a cure for him when the game came out. And I romanced him twice in ME2--he was the only one my Shep was kind of drawn too.

I remembered reading a while back an idea that someone had come up with where he was getting experimental treatment from hanar but he wasn't really responding and then when he was stabbed and got a blood transfusion from Kolyat, Kolyat's blood responds to this treatment. I always thought that was a nice idea. But who knows? At this point, I think we can only expect the Omega DLC that I think we're all pretty much expecting. I'd love to have more time with my LI, be it Thane, or--Kaidan, even if he already has a pretty good romance. But I just love the LI parts; it just adds so very much to the game. But maybe that's just the sap in me.

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that they could use a greybox sort of thing for Thanemancers. Was a pretty cool idea.

I never really got the whole appeal of him, tbh. He's a great character, but doesn't seem like he'd be very interested in a romance from a character stand point. I mean, he knows he's dying and he's accepted that fact. He just got done literally killing his way across the galaxy to avenge his dead wife. He's trying to get a better relationship with his son before he dies. Just seems like he'd have a lot more on his mind than romance.

I guess he seems quite like a samurai to me, which usually seems to preclude any romance.

The Thane romance has sooooo many problems. When he sends you a msg that he's on the Citadel, and you go talk to him, your only option is to say you're there to see the VS.

The only conversation you get with him is a....questionable make out scene with bad graphics, and a chat about how he's dying.

In ME2, he is ready for death.....unless you romance him. If you romance him, he re-awakens and wants to live for his son, and Shepard.

After he dies, and you chatted up Traynor, the shower scene happens right after.
Garrus stands in front of the Memorial where Thane's name was just added, and chats you up about how he misses the non-VS.
Kaidan hits on you, and says he understands why you cheated (if you romanced him in 1).
Life Support stands open and empty, and Thane's mug is STILL ON THE BLOODY TABLE.

Excuse me, I need to go curse again.

Edit:  Oh and not even a bloody paramour achievement.  It's like the twist of the knife lol.

To be perfectly fair, Thane isn't dead necessarily by the time that conversation becomes available. You have to visit him in the hospital or complete a mission or two before Thane officially dies.

However by the time that conversation becomes available, every shepard will have completed the cerberus coup and thus conflicted with the VS, thereby reintroducing discussion of the non-VS.

But yeah, I wish Tali or Garrus had acknowledged Thane's death.

I have said it before and now think I should say it again, From what I have read about the Extended Cut DLC from Bioware they will only extend **** they call an ending, I do not have high hopes for it fixing any problems with the ending. (and imho there is really only one ending with a color filter) so I will push for good mid-game DLC like a romance or squad interaction pack and just make up a appropriate ending in my head,

I agree with you. I'd have a hard time wanting to pay for anything more provided what's been said about the EC DLC. Will it or won't it have game play? Will it just have a few cinematics, or will it be quite expansive? The fact that it's free is what makes me most uncomfortable, if that makes sense. I know production costs money, and I would rather pay and wait longer to make what was there go away.  Seriously.  And i know there are people that like it, and that's OK too.  I was just so very hoping for an expansion pack a la Dragon Age Awakenings, but oh well. I guess I will still stay present to let it be heard of what we want to have happen. But sure, some LI DLC would be crazy awesome. Any more time you get to spend with them would be sweet, and I would pay for it---but not yet. Not yet.

Again, my idea is for a random mission that's not exclusive to any character to happen on the Citadel. And this opens a new level. Could be as simple as stopping a terrorist attack, or a Reaper cult. Either way, you do the mission, and the area becomes unlocked for you to explore (similar to the Shadow Broker base).

This level includes an expensive restaurant, a gift shop, or maybe a carnival full of mini games. And if your romance is still alive, you can take them there on a date, and have some exclusive dialogue. Like doing a waltz with them. Then exchanging gifts.

With Tali, she can show you her face for real (in an area where she can do this of course). And a gift to her could involve a house decoration. Or something that involves Quarian culture. And the dialogue could be about your futures, your pasts, and maybe about Legion.

Thane could be about giving you a Greybox (which is sent to you if he's already dead), and Shepard giving him plans for a future vacation that never happens. The dialogue could involve Thane wanting to make sure Shepard doesn't regret romancing him, and talking about the future he wished he could've gave her.

Garrus could involve him giving you his father's gun (which is usable), and Shepard giving Turian chocolate. And the dialogue could be about Femshep asking how she should act, if she was a turian woman, and trying to mimic one.

Liara's could involve her giving Shepard a bondmate bracelet, or a hololocket. A momento to remember her by if she died. And Shepard gives her a Shepard VI, so she'll have something to both remember him by, and laugh at. And the dialogue could about life-span talk, and how they want to make the best of things.

Jack's could involve her giving Shepard a poker game account she payed for, and wants Shepard and her to play together online, so they can always keep in touch, and stay active together. Shepard gives her SB intel on her mother, and confirms she's either alive or dead, but also tells her details, and gives her a picture. They talk about how being on the Normandy changed her, and Shepard can talk about how he considers her apart of his family. Plus what the future may hold.

Ash could involve giving Shepard the option to pick pony tail or long hair. And Shepard can give her a poem. They can talk about how Ash has changed, and why she's in the odd uniform she's in. And where they're going, future wise.

Kaidan could involve giving Shepard giving her a metal, since he outranks her, and thinks she deserve one (I'm no military expert, so maybe that needs to be changed to something else that shows how much he honors her, and what she has achieved). And Shepard can give him a biotic app that'll reduce his headaches. They talk about a possible future plans, and if they should quit the Alliance if it means staying together after the war.

Traynor could involve getting you a Galaxy of Fantasy account card, and suggest they should play together. While Shepard gives her a real chest board. And talk about the future together.

Steve can give Shepard a new ship model, while Shepard gives him some new power tools to make his life easier repairing the shuttle. Or a leather seat for the shuttle. And talk about their futures together.

Kelly could offer you a new fish, wish you need to promise to not accidentally kill. While Shepard gives a N7 sweater, saying she'll always be part of the Normandy. They talk about the the futures together.

Miranda can give Shepard intel on TIM's identity, and who he was. Or credits she managed to steal from TIM after he started hunting her down. While Shepard gives her a hololocket that she can both her sister and himself in there. So she'll always know she has a family that loves her to come back to. They then talk about humanity, and they wished Cerberus was what it was suppose to be. And how maybe they'll make their own Cerberus.

And after these talks, a couple picture is taken, which is then put into your cabin.

Jacob, I don't think deserves anything since he's a cheating **** that dumped you. But I guess he could give you something that shows that you did mean something to him (and has nothing to do with drinks). And Shepard does the same. And they talked about "What if?" stuff.

That's all I can think about. I'm not an expert on all these romances, so that's why I need those who are to help fill in what type of things you'd want out of such a scene.

These are all lovely ideas.

Something more would be nice - and for the naysayers who think that we'd be dallying instead of facing the threat: we get plent of shore leave on the Citdel, it's a war not one continous long battle - there's not reason we can't take an extra hour or two out of our personal time with the people we love.  Its not taking a month long vacation to googly-eye them off in our own little world that we are after.

I actually would pay such a DLC, if it had enough content, like, at least a couple hours of playtime, if it is interesting and well written. This really could be nice, but a new ending has much higher priority right now.

that is ok with Katelynn (my femmeshep). She alread had a monogamous lesbian marriage, and look how that worked out (her wife got hersekf killed on Akuze and sent Shepard into depression)

besides, it was just head canon. in general, would love more romance dialogue between LI and Shepard. wait, maybe they can add an option to kiss Samantha in the middle of the CIC.

Hopefully an ending replacement and love interest dlc would be hand in hand... see the team again, play some volleyball, have a beer with Garrus, then marry Ashley in my hawaiian shirt on the presidium.
