Honestly just want my money back - Computer Offline problem

At this point I want my money back. Product simply does not work. I give them money and they give me a working game....this is how it works. I think I am going to seek a way to get my money back using my bank. There is no help for this issue and the one post I found, EA says its MY connection that is the issue, funny only EA can't detect the internet, every other program perfect. This Anti piracy garbage has been taken to a new low.
The only way to play these games is to pirate them, otherwise you get ripped off by the game companies.

When you pay 50-70 dollars you can just pirate it and throw away the CD. not illegal.
ROMS for snes etc are "legal" if you own the cartridge. Same here. Not paying anymore money on bio-trash where you need connection to play.

You do not actualy need to be online (i often have connection problems, and i don't have any problems playing). Steam might be something diffirent altogether. Also you might want to check if the propper ports are open (80UTP/TCP 8000TCP 8001UTP i beleve).
Got if from direct2drive.....Ill try starting manually. Starting from the games folder in Vista is giving me this issue. Why is it that ONLY EA requires these "ports"? Everything else works....perfect....just not EA.

thats false and piracy is illegal so ya
Wow! Whats false? it is in fact getting easier to get a pirated game then a game you actually pay for. I don't pirate games but because of greedy companies and their zealous crusade against piracy I am having more and more problems playing games I pay good money for.
It's now to the point I cannot even start a game I paid 55 dollars for. I gave them 55 dollars and I got nothing in return. What EA is doing is no better than piracy. And to make matters worse my only recourse is to come to forums and wade through a half a page of ridiculous personal attacks and semi-flames to get an answer to my tech problem.
I rarely support government regulations, but something must be done to protect consumers from companies like EA.

to OP, i believe the thats false statement is in direct response to your last line of text on your first message
The only way to play these games is to pirate them, otherwise you get ripped off by the game companies
and it is untrue, there is mutliple ways of playing a game. Waiting for patchs, seeking support, BUYING THE CONSOLE VERSION or by UPDATEING your COMPUTER. your choice how you waste your money, But whatever route you chose to take Gluck

You might be struggling if you're running the DAOrigins.exe file before ever having run DAOriginsLauncher.exe - although the game should default to using the Launcher for its shortcuts.
Also, you may have already tried this, but when you run the DA:O launcher you can disable the various online bits using the Configuration utility (you can also automatically add a firewall exception for Windows Firewall from here, under the Repair option - or, if that doesn't work, via the Network tab).
If you have a dedicated internet connection, you might want to check the bit for that under the System menu at the top.
I'm able to pull the plug on my internet connection and the game still starts okay, and mine's a digital download version. I can't resume saved games that have downloadable content enabled without first logging in (anti-piracy measure), but I can start new ones just fine.
As such, though I hate to say it, the problem is probably somewhere on your end rather than EA's end. Some automatic setting that works for 99% of computers not working for yours, or some random damn thing somewhere on a firewall or antivirus program or a random box that's checked somewhere in the depths of Windows that just dislikes EA. These things happen.
If the fixes suggested here don't work, its probably worth using the EA support helpline or online advisor chat. It is frustrating when they make you go through about 6-7 things you've already tried, but more often than not one of their suggestions eventually works. They'd also have a more complete understanding of how to disable online connectivity, if that's a route around the problem.
Keep the faith. You're not the only one to have struggled with a seemingly random bug that prevents the game from loading and/or even installing. All I can say is that its honestly worth all the hassle to get it working. Its a freaking excellent game.

1. To the OP and anyone else having problems, PLEASE provide your system spec's to include driver #'s. It is very hard to provide valid, useful information without having your info.
2. To those out there using STEAM, DirecttoDrive and other digital downloaders, EA is NOT the root to your problems, it is your Download Provider! Again, without your info, thats a best guess, cause they are there own seperate company!
3. Is everyone using the current PATCH for the game, 1.01b? Actually, version 1.02 just got released!!!!!!! Go Get It!!
4. Regarding playing with no internet connection, WOZEARLY, covers this, but let me add, you can still play the saved game with DLC. It will prompt you for a FORCELOAD, just press that option, twice actually and you will be able to play your saved game with the DLC you already have. You will not be able to download any additional DLC without the connection!
Those that are still having problems after all of this, post your system spec's and wait for someone in the know to come along. What ever you do, please don't even suggest Piracy! That type of conduct will not gather you the help you need, because those with the know are not most likely to waste there time on that subject matter, just my 2 cents!
Good Luck ~~ Gunny

Since this is a self-help forum I'm not sure you can expect to get someone from BioWare or EA to respond to your request. Your best bet is to go to http://support.ea.com or Direct2Drive if you're serious about trying to get your money back.
here ya go what they say...so yeah the support is not so good
"First of all, you may want to post this question over at the Dragon Age Forums:
http://daforums.bioware.com/
Try to end all background tasks that might be running on your
computer and see if that corrects your problem. If it doesn't, have a
look at this FAQ article (pay particular attention to the section about
router ports):

Thanks!

Ok wozearly I will look into it. The thing is why is it everything else works? I have never had one program do this just EA.....and the real frustration is that EA makes it so complicated to stop piracy...this is a single player game and I am getting screwed because of a need to chek my game on the internet.

It looks like you are linking to two different products. Is the problem you are having with Dragon Age or with EADM?
You may want to check if ECN is enabled (google it). Disable it if it is.

its with EA and the verification it goes through. the EADM is what is not working, it's the application which is hosed

Again those arn't Dragon Age. Please stay relevant.
One user just reported all their connection problems solved by disabling thier IP filtering software. Perhaps EA is on some filter lists.
