Though just because a former LI companion can't be romanced in DAIII doesn't mean they wouldn't make a valuable companion. They might, in fact, be able to answer a lot of our burning questions about what happened to the Warden, Hawke, or our other companions.

Oh god no....
I can't allow myself to hope that this would be done in a positive way.

LOL. But if it was... would you want it?
Strictly hypothetical, for fun - I'm not M-Law in disguise, I promise.

There would have to be multiple entirely different versions of the same character. If they were willing to actually do that, it might be really cool.

Multiple how, exactly? Because of the outcome of their side quests?

Maybe I'm being naive, but it seems like there could easily be just a few conversations with more than one possible answer/response. The rest could be focused on the present, or reminiscing in a general and vague kind of way (the way Wynne did in "Asunder").

Lets say Morrigan was brought back as a new companion;

Old God Baby
Romance
Friendship
Eluvian

Each one of these variables should change some important aspect of her character. Whether or not she's the Warden's lover is entirely character defining for her. Then, if she wasn't, whether or not she viewed the Warden as her first true friend is also character defining for her.

You mean like having Zevran come back as a non romance char? I mean I think something like that could be really awesome but it seems like it would be very complicated to do. I thought all mentions of the warden and events in Kirkwall were done very well in a vague sort of way in Asunder. I think most general responses from prev companions should be pretty vague unless they want to get super detailed from imports. Interesting to hypothetically think about anyway. ;)

You have a strong point as a general example, though in reference to Morrigan here's what I think:

Old God Baby: CRUCIAL. Seems like it's already kind of cannon anyway. Maybe she seduced Riordan anyway and got lucky? Retcon expected.
Romance: Morrigan will play it cool after the separation. Especially toward strangers.
Friendship: Same as above
Eluvian: Possibly part of her future with or without Old God Baby

And then there's the possibility that the devs could decide to just not address any of those issues at all. Would our curiousity eat away at us? Yep. But Morrigan could be up to some new scheme that would fill the voice nicely.

I guarantee you that almost all of that would thoroughly ****** off a lot of players, lol.

The potential for canonzing the Old God Baby is already really upsetting a lot of people. =]

True. Though I think they could easily get by with only getting super detailed from imports once or twice.

Remember how Cullen remembers female human mage warden?
And Alistair/Leliana/Zevran have different small dialogue options depending on import data?
Just the kind of thing I'm talking about. Image IPB

Leliana should have been off adventuring with the Warden. He still had his 30 years left. DAII only covers 10. Her inclusion in the game was bogus.

Well you won't catch me saying that I like it, but I've learned to take it as it comes.

Yeah... I guess she could have left him for just a few months to help out, or he could have been meeting up with Stroud and the gang at the same time...
but yeah. I agree.

I always kind of wanted to romance Oghren. I know he's disgusting... I just thought the whole thing would be a riot.

For other people she was murdered. (kudos to them for really sticking to the I Hate The Chantry thing) For other folks, she killed herself after the Warden sacrificed himself. For other folks, she went back to being a cut-throat bard. There are all kinds of reasons why she shouldn't be there. The only way her Seeker role fits in is for the folks that didn't harden, romance, or kill her.

If they had multiple seperate versions of her that fit each of the paths she might have taken in DA:O, then it would have been ok. But they didn't. Instead, they retconned every path except one.

Whoa whoa, she commits suicide? Just if you're in a relationship, right? Because I do not remember that. Yeesh.

In all my playthoughs she wrote me an epic ballad and then disappears. Which sounds totally lame until you remember that she's the one singing the DA theme song.

That is so random and... non-Chantry-ish.

If Alistair had committed suicide for me I'd have been ticked. I died to save you guys, dangit!

Oh, she must also be unhardened. If she's hardened, she writes the song and then vanishes.

Well that was only sort of on-topic. Sorry OP. :(

But my answer still stands - Sten. He would watch the Chantry burn and be like "what is it with these people? Their actions make no sense. And you look like a woman."

If I could have only one recruitable character return, it would be Sigrun. She's just that awesome. She's perky, she's smart, and she's a lot of fun. She is also one of only two females in the entire series that I would willingly romance. (Isabela is the other one.)

I would've liked Anders again, but since he's still in a romance with my Hawke and after the big bang...yeah.

Nathaniel Howe would be cool to bring back. I actually grew to like him.

No more Zevran please. Just no. I couldn't stand him in DA2 for some reason.

Maybe Allistair depending on your choices in DAO.

Velanna in DAO:A might be interesting to bring back too.

Quite honestly my answer is none as a companion.

I would want the OPTION (based on a competent import feature / pre-game questionnaire a la ME2)to once again fight alongside Loghain.Just to make it clear that I would not want to force him as canon on anyone.
And I wish I could play as my Warden again ,even for a short while...but as it stands at the moment, that is unlikely to happen.Such a shame.

Don't want any of them. The less connection DA3 has with DA2 the better. I don't want any of the DA companions either.
