I've been searching the forum for about half an hour and have yet to come up with a solution. I know I'm not the only one who's had this problem, but I'm late to the party, and I haven't found anything definitive in terms of fixing it.
I bought DAII for the PC (retail, box copy). I entered the product key on installation, and it went through fine. When I try to launch the game, it asks me to activate again using my EA account, but when I've logged in it says that it needs the product key. When I enter it a second time, it claims that the key has already been used.
I saw a thread stating that if I reverted to 1.00, this would be fixed, but I did that and I'm still having the problem. Any other solutions?

Since it never happened to me, I have nothing direct I can offer other than to suggest that you avoid the forum's own badly broken version of a Finder function. Use Bing, Google, Yahoo, et al, adding redirection like this:

Did you buy a used retail copy of the game? If yes then you cannot play it if the activation key is already used. That happened to me.
EA support refused to transfer that activation to my profile, (seeing as i now own that retail copy to which the activation key is tied) they said that it´s not EA policy do that, and they could not help me. They suggested instead that i need to buy the game again to play it,
since when have we come this, that you can´t buy used pc games and expect them to actually work...
It´s depressing when corporations are eroding our basic consumer rights...

Assuming this is a new retail copy of the game, there are actually *two* codes you have to deal with. The first is the actual CD Key, which is located on the back of the manual.
The second is the online pass, which should have been on a separate card in the game case... it's probably on a flyer that has an advertisement for Mass Effect or another game on it.
The online pass needs to be redeemed on this page: http://social.biowar...redeem_code.php
Read the warning instructions carefully on that page, and make sure your BSN account's e-mail is associated with your EA account e-mail.
