I've never encountered someone "outraged" by the endings legitimately.

I think people overexaggereated their anger. People are genuinely upset though.

Me personally, I'm almost past that point, I'm rapidly approaching the point of no longer caring and engrossing myself in Geometry Wars Evolution.

outraged, no. really disappointed, yes. hate the endings absolutely, yes. they've destroyed the mass effect universe through paradox.

The only hope is that the starchild was either lying, or an illusion.

Nice to see some opinions besides the angry joe EA overlords side, interesting reads so far.

When some guys came to aerate my front lawn, one of them asked if I play Mass Effect and if I played ME3 yet and I told him "Yeah, I have it. Don't buy it. Or if you do buy it, don't play the last part or you'll regret it." I don't think he knew exactly what I was talking about because he looked a little puzzled afterwards.

outrage was coined by the media pointing at the Retake Mass Effect movement and saying that fans were angry, entitled and whiny.  angry/outraged people usually can't rationalize their anger and give the lists of what was wrong, why, and their suggestions for fixing it.

i, too, have yet to meet a person "outraged" by the endings.  i have met fans upset or disappointed by the endings, but no rage.

media hyperbole...  that's my story and i'm sticking to it.

Depends on what you mean by "outraged". I don't think about nothing else or anything, but I'm way, way angrier than I've ever been about anything media related before. And I fully support demanding better endings (obviously), because that's what we were promised (or rather, what we were promised would be good endings).

And I definitely won't be spending another cent on Bioware product until it's fixed...which means never again if they don't fix it. And no, that's not just hot air - anyone who knows me will tell you I follow through when I make those kinds of statements. <_<

Outraged is the wrong word. I was more emotionally invested in the ME story then any other I've read/watched/played, so after the ME3 ending I was pretty down. But then that went away as any other emotion drawn out by a story would and its over. It hasn't affected the rest of my life like outrage would, I'm just not gonna buy anything else made by BioWare or published by EA. It's really that simple.

Oh and the ending was abysmal.

Well here's where my interest lies, if you're so bent up on not having anything to do with BW again, why scower the forums?

A friend of mine traded in his collector's edition of the game and said "I hate that Casey Hudson"

I am not exaggerating when I say I felt like I was gut-punched and was about to throw up when I saw the ending of ME3. That's exactly how I felt. I played the whole 3 games all over again because I really wanted to play in the Mass Effect universe but I still can't bring myself to complete the ending of ME3 over again. I just stop playing right before the Cerberus Base mission.

Ask me in real life and I'll say "**** that game. Change the subject." On the internet it's a horrible wreck I can't look away from.

I went to PAX. Sat at the front of the queue for ME from 2.45 to get into the panel. I listened to one large-ish group talk for about an hour, ****ing and moaning (including one guy who made the incredible statement that since EA bought bioware, they should be able to churn games that make a loss...) and they were boasting about how they would get up and leave, ask tough questions, and give bioware all the sh!t of the day.

They were clapping as hard as I was.

Even if I wanted to rage, I could not, the ending stripped me of emotions, by the time I'd overcome the numbness any rage there might have been was gone, a good thing really, I prefer to remain level headed rather than go off on some insane rage.

Funny. Everyone I know hates the ending.

Same. Everyone was massively disappointed by ME3, especially the ending. None of my friends liked the endings, not even remotely. Even though I didn't rage, I can perfectly understand people who did and I would definitely not call them entitled.

Aye, I heard many of the same tales from PAX goers as well. Which is where the idea of this thread really rooted itself in my mind. Good to hear I wasn't just having hot air blown into me when I heard the nay sayers were flip flopping at a few vague BW comments.

I would submit, it is a form of coping mechanism. This is the place to talk it out with others, many gamers are solitary folk who wouldn't gain the understanding (or even interest for a few seconds) talking to parents, family or friends who never play computer games. Plus a hope each day for an announcement of ending change by Bioware, everyone would forgive if they did that, however unlikely.

When I first found out about the endings (about a week before ME3 launced) I was so angry I didn't want to believe it. I started out hoping for a "secret ending". When it turned out there was no secret ending I turned my attention to an ending DLC, even if I had to pay for it, and the whole time I was thinking to myself "I can't believe they did this."

Now that I've got some distance on it I'm not so focused on it. I try and appreciate ME3 and the trilogy for what's there apart from the ending. That said the endings killed my enthusiasm for the game. I was still playing ME1 and ME2 over six months after I got either game. Not so ME3.

Isn't it a shame that 90% of the people out there are severly lacking a quad?

I've also heard some outspoken person at  PAX giving praise to Bioware for making a great game series from start to finish.

The reception was pretty quiet, with a few golf claps.

Because we want Bioware to understand that we expect them to follow through on their promised ending content. We want to keep the pressure on them so they don't half-ass things again, so that maybe maaaaaaaybe we can salvage something from a series we loved until the last few minutes. We want them to know we're not just going to let this fade away, forgive and forget, and if they want our money in the future, they need to admit their mistake and fix it. At least, that's my reason.

Everyone I've talked with about this in real life ranged from disappointed to livid about the ending. And these are not all people who share identical tastes.

So I can, anecdotally, say that there are indeed people beyond this forum who were angry about how the end of this trilogy was mishandled.

yup

but I'm sure the physics of the crowd mentality is way too huge to even discuss here. rest assured, it definitely exists.
