Ashley Vs Tali

Tali gives you useful info in ME1, makes the Mako a super tank, and she can hack anything. In ME2 her Combat Drone is the bees knees. In ME3 she's a part of one of the best story lines in the game and honestly her love story is just really well told.
Anyways for those that are curious about the catfights you get this one if you are romancing Tali and dumped Ashley.
I'm not sure if you get this one because you're romancing Ashley (dumped Tali) or if you haven't talked to Tali in your cabin yet. Can anyone confirm?

Tali hands down, Ash is a racist for one thing. she just won't drop the whole Cerberus thing and she was butt ugly in ME1 IMO, and kinda looked like a she-man in ME3.
Your turn.
No, seriously: what do you call Tali's or any other quarian John/Jane Doe's opinion about the Geth? If that's not racist / specist including an genocidal attitude, I don't know.
God thanks you can convince Tali to work with Legion and god thanks you can make peace between both, but the Quarians act far more racist than Ashley.
Just something to think about. And the line "Ash is a racist" is as stupid as "all russians are sovjets"

*sigh*
Ash is not racist, just mistrusting, as most humans are at this point in human history. Additionally, Tali's (and the Quarian's) attitude towards the geth can be viewed as racist or worse, wanting to kill the geth. Its all been said before, lets not get into it again. Part of what makes the characters interesting is their flaws.
Now, with that out of the way, I feel like Ash and Tali would attrached different types of Shepards. Both have great romance arcs, and are interesting in their own right. Drawbacks of each: Ash gets sidlined during the second half of ME3 and Tali is introduced very late, so her interaction limited in general.
Take your pick of who you or your Shepard would most fit in with, and enjoy the story. Then go back and do the other.

Or at least the majority of the Quarians do. Not all of them wanted to commit the genocide of the Geth in the first place.CptData wrote...

Even though verbal jabbing is all that happens, as it should be, in hand to hand Ashley would wipe the floor with Tali. She's trained in Marine hand to hand after all.Khajiit Jzargo wrote...

What is not consistant about Ashley's character? All that really changes are her looks and that she somewhat matures meaning she's arguably slightly less blunt and has a better understanding of aliens.Bocks wrote...
Tali, at least her character stays more or less consistent throughout the three games and isn't absolutely insane about Cerberus.
Tali on the other hand has a bit of a character change from ME1 to ME2, they mainly added more character and personality to her, whereas in ME1 she was mainly just a quarian to me, with only a vague personality.
Edit: I just realised you were probably talking about her on the Normandy in comparison to her on the citadel, in that case I understand.

I agree, Tali's character is more consistent across the series, but then again, you had her a a full time squatmate in ME2, so you got plenty of time to get to know her. I also blame this on Ash's treatment in the second half of ME3.
As for Ash's views on Cerberus, I gotta say, they are completely reasonable. Black-ops group gone rogue, with a horrible reputation of subverting science (tests using Thorian creepers, rachni, project overloard, Sancturary) and "integrating" their followers is not something to take lightly. Now, think that the person you loved died, and then was brought back to life by this organization...I can tell you, I'd be pretty damn skeptical. On top of that, I didn't think Ash brought up Cerberus very much at all considering the circumstances.

that's hardly consistent. Ashley continues to call you on your Cerberus ties until the coup. If anything she and Kaidan are the most consistent characters in the series. Alliance soldiers through and through.

This.
Unfortunately these people exist in every fanbase, of every character.
To begin with, this thread shouldn't be named "Ashley VS Tali", but "Ashley or Tali" since this isn't a competition
but only a matter of taste and personal preference.
I hope we can all agree that both characters have their merits and won't need to insult each other.

Not sure if you were directing this at me, but I'll give you me take on it.
I feel Tali is consistent in character and personality. Her loyalty to the Migrant Fleet, her loyalty/love for Shepard, her conflicted opinion about the Geth, all develop consistantly across all games. Her dialogue through the game is also consistent, if only in my opinion. As for her change in position on Cerberus in ME2, depending on you action in ME1, her replay is "I want too, but I can't" because of her new role in the Migrant Fleet, and her mission on Haestrom. Once that was completed, she no longer has a reason to not join up.
Now for Ash, I completely agree with you. Thats what is appealing about her, she is not a yes (wo)man. She will call you out and expect answers, as any reasonable person would. Its jus that post coup, she feels pretty out of character until the romance scene.
These are just my opinions, I am a big support of many of the romances throughout the series, and don't really see the point of bashing any of them (except a certain Jacob...).

Everything about Ashley is inconsistent in ME3. The main glaring issue is her character redesign to make her a downright _____. She even says she doesn't wear skirts, and yet she wears a skirt in ME3. She also doesn't stop talking about Cerberus until a good three fourths of the way into the game, and has some serious issues with accepting Shepard isn't with them anymore. Kaidan just drops it altogether after the coup, but Ashley seems to drag it on and on.
Tali's character at the fundamental level did not change. She grew up, sure. She matured in her mannerisms and generally grew older, and this is reflected in her character design by her hood resembling something like a shorter haircut.

Tali said she couldn't work with you because she had a mission. That mission was on Haestrom. She finished her mission. She joined you. It's not rocket surgery.
Also, mistrusting someone who you bled and fought with? Even after everyone else you bled and fought with seems to follow him or her into battle? That's just stupid and it was an excuse for Bioware to not have Ashley and Kaidan in ME2. It's not a good part of their characters in the slightest and is some of the worst writing in Mass Effect altogether.

They're both products of their society. While Ashley is resentful of all aliens, Tali (and the Quarians) are resentful of the Geth which they don't view as a separate race but rather as tools or pets that got away. Neither is right but only Tali and Quarians seem to grow out of this. Ashley gets along with others on the crew, learns a bit in ME1 but in ME3 she's still ****ing about aliens when you go talk to her after some missions. Tali mourns Legion, the Quarians actually work with the Geth to not only rebuild their home world but also accept the offer of the Geth to help rebuild their immune system.xAmilli0n wrote...

Ashley actually becomes rather entrenched and stays pretty stubborn. Hell if you don't buy her flowers she still mistrusts you over events in ME2. Thank god Garrus puts her down like a rabid beast. Joker says it best if Ashley dies "We bus our asses stopping the collectors, and we haven't earned the benefit of the doubt?"
Both are flawed characters, which makes for good story telling, but only Tali actually grows up.

I know, but still the point is you have to buy her something to begin with. Saving her life, taking her in for medical treatment, visiting her, saving the galaxy are some how not good enough.
