She's not the flower type. Actually ... you need to know Ashley to get the right present ^^

These Ash's gifts reminds me ME3 - lot of choices, but none of them matters.

I know, but still the point is you have to buy her something to begin with. Saving her life, taking her in for medical treatment, visiting her, saving the galaxy are some how not good enough.

You also could import a ME1/ME2 savegame - in that case it's p*ss easy to save Ashley.
Actually, it's too easy. I missed the challenge in that scene - especially since it was a pivotal point of the game, right, BW? Where's the "pivotal role" of the VS again?

Same like: "no ABC choice at the end" or "your choices matter" <_<

They're both products of their society. While Ashley is resentful of all aliens, Tali (and the Quarians) are resentful of the Geth which they don't view as a separate race but rather as tools or pets that got away. Neither is right but only Tali and Quarians seem to grow out of this. Ashley gets along with others on the crew, learns a bit in ME1 but in ME3 she's still ****ing about aliens when you go talk to her after some missions. Tali mourns Legion, the Quarians actually work with the Geth to not only rebuild their home world but also accept the offer of the Geth to help rebuild their immune system.

Ashley actually becomes rather entrenched and stays pretty stubborn. Hell if you don't buy her flowers she still mistrusts you over events in ME2. Thank god Garrus puts her down like a rabid beast. Joker says it best if Ashley dies "We bus our asses stopping the collectors, and we haven't earned the benefit of the doubt?"

Both are flawed characters, which makes for good story telling, but only Tali actually grows up.

I like your opening sentence, they indeed are products of their society.  The Quarian's do look at the Geth as tools, an experiment that essentially got out of hand.  They've had 300 years to resent their decision, and as a result hate the Geth.  I will have to disagree with you them growing out of it.  The attack on Rannoch shows us that, and the only reason peace can be achieved is because of Shepard essentially demands it.  Tali states herself, she would have killed the Geth without a second thought (though she admits she would have been wrong).  This doesn't mean it can't happen, but in the span of ME3, I do not believe it has.  As for the Geth helping the Quarians adapt to Rannoch, I 'd say that more the Geth's generous nature than the Quarian's accepting them completely.

As for Ashley, she is also a product of her society.  First contact was 30 years ago, and it resulted in a war.  Thats not a lot of time get know each other.  Humans simply have not had the time to get to know and trust aliens, and likewise, most aliens don't trust humans (this was a huge theme in ME1).  In my opinion, I don't think you are giving Ash enough credit for her growth in ME1, and I never felt she held any ill will towards aliens in ME3.

Side notes: Its all about the Tennyson book lol.  Also, those conversations after shooting Ash are kinda heart breaking.

Man...I really need to stop writing longs replys

Oh I saved her simply because I took every interrupt I could and did all the right things (not really knowing). But I've also only done one play through. I'd consider letting her die if it wasn't for the cat fight scene Tali gets. It's always better keeping her alive and rubbing it in her face.

I wish I could find some youtube clips of her non-conversations on the ship but she says a few things every once in a while that make me really want to shake some sense into her.

You know what makes me feeling sad?
It's not the fact ppl dislike her or get Ashley killed.

It's the fact ppl feel joy in killing a (fictional) person. I'm ashamed I have to live on this planet when reading those comments on Youtube below that vid.

*shakes head*

That makes me wondering what kind of people they are. Hope none of them ever has access to a live gun.

Maybe she does.  My first playthrough was with Ash as my LI, and I have not yet to NG+ that one.  From what I recall, nothing stood out to me.  But it has been over a month since that playthrough, so who knows, maybe a second look is required for me to notice it.  But until then, my first impression stands.  Though video examples would definitley be welcome.

Don't get so dramatic.

There is a difference between wanting a loathsome fictional character out of the way so the story can progress without them, and admiring real life violence (I abseloutly hate violence). I do not know about you, but I would have been thrilled if a truck came crashing in through a wall and killed Jar Jar, or seeing Thane getting impaled on a metal beam (thankfully the last is possible).

And for the record. I like Ashley in ME1 and I feel pretty terrible when I leave her behind on Virmire. I do however not care one bit for Ash in ME3, as it is feels like she has not matured in any way, and seemingly does not trust or care for Shepard fully again.

Must say, TIM redeems himself when doing "The Saren".
So yeah ... why should I cheer? Hell, I didn't even celebrate when taking down Kai Leng. I don't like that character, he's so incredible shallow and not even worthy to feel joy. I just feel sorry for Thane <_<

I loved Ashley in ME1 she was awesome. And orginally my choice of LI in the beginning. Gonna be honest I didn't like Tali at first or any of the other aliens...Oddly that might've been one of the reasons I liked Ash at first ha. But then when I actually played through the game seriously, Tali (as did a lot of the other races) grew on me and from there on she's been my fav. I still like Ash but well she wasn't treated very good in ME3. : /

Also I still don't like or understand why people use Ash is racist as an argument. Especially in this case of "Ashley vs Tali". Patrick Weekes pretty much said one of the biggest flaws Tali had was that she was racist...

What
is not consistant about Ashley's character? All that really changes are
her looks and that she somewhat matures meaning she's arguably slightly
less blunt and has a better understanding of aliens.

Tali on the
other hand has a bit of a character change from ME1 to ME2, they mainly
added more character and personality to her, whereas in ME1 she was
mainly just a quarian to me, with only a vague personality.

Edit:
I just realised you were probably talking about her on the Normandy in
comparison to her on the citadel, in that case I understand.

Everything about Ashley is inconsistent in ME3. The main glaring issue is her character redesign to make her a downright _____. She even says she doesn't wear skirts, and yet she wears a skirt in ME3. She also doesn't stop talking about Cerberus until a good three fourths of the way into the game, and has some serious issues with accepting Shepard isn't with them anymore. Kaidan just drops it altogether after the coup, but Ashley seems to drag it on and on.

Tali's character at the fundamental level did not change. She grew up, sure. She matured in her mannerisms and generally grew older, and this is reflected in her character design by her hood resembling something like a shorter haircut.

Although it was a real shame you never got to ask why she wears the new outfit, it's quite insignificant. It doesn't affect the character in and of itself. (It would've actually been better if it clearly reflected her character, but we can still fill it in ourselves. It's not beyond comprehension that she wants to wear something different or something 'sexy', that said, I'm not a fan of it either)

The cerberus thing has nothing to do with character inconsistency, Ashley isn't quick to trust anyone, moreso than Kaidan. but that's about personal preference I guess.

Ashley continues to call you on your Cerberus ties until the coup. If anything she and Kaidan are the most consistent characters in the series. Alliance soldiers through and through.

Shepard was reinstated by Admiral Anderson.  For an "Aliance soldier, through and through", questioning him at every turn doesn't seem to show much respect for the chain of command...
