It did as much as all the other war assets, nothing. But then again, choice matters.

Yeah, it does. Big time. Wasn't it awesome? <_<

Some people will probably troll or flame me for this, but I think that your Citadel Security assets will have some form of impact in the EC.

In the content we currently have though, they accomplish nothing.

That would make sense, depending on the amount of assets you have determines who lived on the Citadel. Such as Bailey, the Council...etc.

You could argue that improving citadel defence freed up resources for elsewhere.

absolutely nothing, just like everything else that was a "war asset"....Diana Allers/Jessica Chobot a.k.a. Chipmunk in spandex did more than any of your other war assets. Which in of itself is probably one of the sadest realizations of this game....

.... how?
Improving Citadel defence would use up resources, not free them. People, training, supplies, equipment, etc.

Most of the ways you improve Citadel defense don't use up resources.  They either spur donations or contributions by civilians, or improve efficiency.

In both cases, that could allow less actual military resources to be allocated to the Citadel, and instead be deployed on the front lines.

It's not really the strongest explanation, I know, but I offer it for if you're feeling generous to Bioware

This is exactly what I expected. I was figuring that when I got to the Citadel there'd be another section where I would be backed by C-Sec, the Citadel Defense force, and the Spectres, and a chance to see the Councilors, I was expecting the Turian Councilor to actually be in the thick of it, since all Turians have served in the Military at some point.

I actually wasn't really looking forward to it though, since I had been playing since Cerberus Base, and I was getting exhausted. When I got the Illusive Man/Anderson scene though, cofusing as it was, it was still pretty awesome. However, I think my inital emotional rejection of the ending, aside from the destruction of the Relays and the nonsensical logic, was the fact that the Citadel blew up.

It would have been one thing to leave unexplained and left for us to 'speculate' on, that's bad, but not all that bad, but its the fact that the Citadel blows up, so we KNOW their dead.

I figure Mass Effect 3 was so rushed we need a complete remake. Not from scratch mind you, just take out the bad, keep the good, and fixed the underused parts, the foremost of which being the ending, and the War Assets. And fighting it out in the wards with the Citadel Forces you gathered should be a part of that.

I remember part of my war assets involved defending the Citadel. I imagined this as keeping the Citadel safe and having C-Sec and the citizens able to defend the base should the Reapers come for it. So there was no point in that? Starbrat and his toys took it over in seconds and left the bodies for harvesting?

I find it sad that the Citadel survived the Geth, Cerberus and then falls to Starbrat without a chance. Even if people did live, Shepard certainly didn't help with that did he/she?

:pinched:

A couple of days ago when I was thinking about the war-asset-system that is nearly compeltelx detached from the game itself and just a funny number of numbers you are collecting during the game, I ran into nearly the same problem, but my question was bit different.

I am collecting war-asset-points for a Citadel-defense-force. Okay so far.

But the defense-force is useless.
The Citadel is beeing taken over by the reapers and most of my assets should be gone (either dead people or useless technology because there is nobody to use it. And some parts are definitly against Cerberus and useless against Reapers).
But even if my collected assets are nullified because the Reapers took over the Citadel, theese assets are counting towards the result of the ending. They are counted when it comes to the number that decides which endings are available or not.
Makes no sense for me.

Die horribly

^ lol This. Offscreen, too, just to cheapen the whole thing. If I saw the things I did for the Citadel have some effect, like helping a few extra get away to the escape pods and helping them to fight back just that little bit longer, then it wouldn't have been nearly as bad. When a writer has to go on f***ing Twitter to tell players what happened at the end of their game, then something was fouled up somewhere.

In fact Cerberus was too succesful in the attack to the citadel. 200.000 C-sec officers(mostly humans and turians, so no pushovers), Batarian refugees(a lot of them soldiers), Asari Commandos(FTR; they have to be awesome), Normal Asari(all biotic >:>), weapons everywhere( SO MANY SHOPS OF MY SHINY TOYS OF DESTRUCTION), Alliance soldiers, etc, even, Elcors(I bet one elcor can curbstomp a brute in h2h).

Yet, the reapers conquer it too easy. I see normal they defeat the citadel defense fleet easy. But, taking it easy? NO WAY. Especially if the thing has the arms closed, and no Reaper(Reaper as actual reapers) can come in. As easy the defense fleet can be destroyed, at least they can buy time to close the arms.

So, as far as I am concerned, the Reapers when the citadel is in earth are fighting resistance in it.

P.D:And as we all know, the keepers dont obey the reapers anymore thanks to the proteans.

The thread returns!

I don't know maybe it was like with Joker in the Citadel. People lived by yelling "run for your lives". Even if people lived, its still pathetic.

Was kinda hoping if you had a High C sec EMS, you would see them trying to fight back against the reapers when u got up there. A low EMS, you see them being dragged through the halls to Dragon Teeth. Dont really interact.....but hell at least u see them doing something *other then suck and die*

You should feel bad for recruiting anyone on the Citadel Defence Force.

They are all corpses or gooified.

You're just gathering people in one place, making life easier for the Reapers, because they never have a chance at a successful defence.

Maybe what they should do... is if you have a high enough CDF, we see a cinematic of people successfully fleeing the Citadel.

They died. Didn't Hack Walters commented on that question with a twitter statement saying that basically everyone died?
Then we have Weekes saying that "nooooo, a lot of them got a place in the shelters...we wouldn't kill off people and diminish the replayability of certain sections in the game"

Somehow these two statements don't fit together...although Space Magic might help. And maybe closing your eyes and banging your head against a wall...repeatedly...

CDF managed to fight off the first 10 waves but then all the banshees and brutes with the ravagers providing fire support overwhelmed them and they died.

Citadel Defense ran like cowards (like Joker?) when the Reapers came knocking at the Citadel. It's the only explanation for why they're still included in your war assets when you attack Earth.
Unless the Reapers simply let them go, which, given how stupid they were the entire war, wouldn't be too surprising.

The CDF allowed the Citadel to hold out for 0.0000000015 seconds against the reapers, instead of 0.0000000014 seconds
