Probably on indefinite leave until EA calls them back....which won't likely happen soon and when it does it'll probably be so they can pick up their last check. They are solely responsible for this whole mess....not BioWare as a whole/company, not EA......just those two. Good riddance if you ask me.

You realize the Mass Effect universe is basically Casey's brainchild, and Mac was a writer through all 3 games (plus the comics)? I don't think we'd have this series without Casey.

They've done some great work throughout the series. The ME3 ending was obviously not their best.

If they are working on Extended Cut right now with the rest of the writing team, then I am perfectly fine with them being "off the grid" right now. I'd rather let them work.

What does it matter? They destroyed everything and what I loathe them the most for is the Adam and Eve reference just about implying your LI repopulated some world with Joker or other party members.....after they all abandoned you.

The way that ending made me feel far outweighs the rest of the series.....if that's what they had in mind all along and if they fail to propperly fix it then it'd probably be better if none of the Mass Effect games ever existed....and they had better keep their hands off my damn ending DLC.....screw their artistic vision.

Damn I hated that.....that's why I hate comics in general...they don't know when to freaking stop. Once you start going into stupid territory it's time to end it....take your time and end if right but finish it off before the idiocy hits.

Well, when they don't want to lie and an honest answer would only make matters worse, "neither confirm nor deny" is the default answer of every government in the world.

My field is politics, and I'll give you a bit of insight. "Neither confirm nor deny" generally means a definitive answer will be damaging regardless, the question itself is leading or otherwise flawed, or the answer is entirely irrelevant due to the questioner's preconceptions and intent; generally, the person being asked is also generally not authorized to speak definitively about a given subject or privy to the information required to tactfully answer regardless of why. The notion that "neither confirm nor deny" means "yes" is a spinoff of the highly specious and fallacious "if you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide" mentality, and perpetrated by common perception and portrayal of governments as inherently malicious entities.

Death threats ARE serious business, yes. (Not saying you made them, of course.)

Yeah because you would totally be like "ohh it doesn't bother me at all" getting the kind of insults and death threats they do

andomguy666uk, you really shouldn't have posted that PM conversation with Chris Priestly, at least not without asking him if he was ok with he (he probably wouldn't have been, but there you go). No matter what was said, it should remain private between the two of you. Unless of course he laughed maniacally, said he had a real life bomb and was going to blow up the world with it. Then it might be ok to post it in public forums :P

But yeah, I am really not surprised that Hudson or Walters have completely disappeared off the radar. Best thing for them at this point.

I've gotten some exceedingly vulgar insults from certain people here.
I shrug and move on. But you know one thing they have that I don't on BSN? Banhammers.

I've actually seen some death threats towards these two over the internet over the past two months. While I cannot condone that sort of behaviour (excessive, much) I do feel that a lot of the complaints ARE justified.

"I'm not authorized" sends a completely different message than what is being said. What's more, there is nearly always someone who isn't authorized who leaks information to the press anyway.

And this isn't a situation where either answer is necessarily bad. If the content was always going to be free and they can prove it, the shareholders are going to react to that fact the same way, regardless. If the intent at making a profit on that content was never there, no one is having cash taken out of their pockets. But BioWare could potentially gain some credibility back with players if they can prove they aren't just pandering to us in hopes that this outrage blows over.

He could, but it would require markmanship not calibration...

Garrus: "We're gonna..."

Shepard: "...have..."

Garrus: "We're gonna have a space cow, and some space pigs, and we're gonna have,
maybe-maybe, a space chicken.  Down in the flat, we'll have a little field

Shepard: "Field of alfalfa for the space rabbits."

Garrus: "...for the space rabbits..."

Shepard: "And I get to tend the space rab.."

Garrus: "SCOPED AND DROPPED!"

I pity them really, when the dust clears they will be the fall guys.

EAs stock is suffering horribly, I really can't emphasize this enough; Mass Effect 3 was a flagship product, it was supposed to be on par with the BF3 release. While they are having the sales market externalities have made those sales numbers largely irrelevant. The loss in stock price greatly outweighs ME3s profits. When ME3 launched stock was around 17-18 dollar range, at the moment it is $14.76.

Spread out across all their issued stock we are looking at several hundred million in losses. I can't find the number at the moment but if I recall EA has something like 5 billion shares issued?

That's pretty significant.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Sorry, sorry. . . Let me get my composure here. . . HAHAHA. COULDN'T. SORRY.

That's the biggest mistake anyone could suggest. The people on the forums are to waist-deep in their own rage to have a civil conversation, much less 'talk' about it. This isn't even including how much personal coloring of opinions and baseless speculation would just ignite pointless and unnecessary wildfires.

It's the player's reaction that's caused them to bunker up. It's not about 'taking some hits and getting over it', it's about cutting off fires from the source - that is, not giving forumites anything else to tear apart.

I don't know why people think Hudson or Walters talking here would be bad. Look at Gamble, people didn't exactly love him for what he said pre-release, and he came here and debunked that leak. He didn't seem to get bombarded with hate. Sure, there will ALWAYS be the few angry people that go the extra mile and make petty threats, and that's why there's the ban hammer.

I think people would actually welcome Hudson or Walters to talk. I mean come on it would be nice.

The nature of the beast here is that answering questions has a terrible tendency to raise other questions. "I can't comment on that" or any derivation thereof raises the question of why not, especially when asked of a spokesperson who is accepted to be "in the know" about the issue in question, even if they're not. Moreover, you can twist an answer into just about anything you want, and the only way to not lose the game is to refuse to play.

Case in point, even were Chris to (and I'll work off the best-case scenario) say yes, the extended cut DLC was going to be free from the beginning, no small or silent portion of the community would accuse him of lying or defending EA straight out of the gate. Likewise, if he said resurgence was intended to be free, the complaints from the multiplayer community that EA only released resurgence for free to milk more microtransactions would get stronger and louder. You'd yet get people claiming EA and BW are attempting to distract people from other problems endemic to the game or trying to merely placate them into silence, only this time parroting a quote from a BW employee as their source. And hell, if he said no, the DLC packs were intended to be sold then nerdrage forum asplosion even if he were to point out the decision to provide them free was hinged around ANN being a prepaid content tool (which it is) and a conciliatory gesture on EA/BW's part.

That's assuming he's an authoritative source, privy to those management decisions and authorized to speak in regards to it. Either way, answering that question was a lose-lose proposition for him and he was entirely in the right to refuse to answer it.
