When I tried inputting the code it came up as invalid, after multiple attempts I reread it and it turns out that the expiry date was March 31, 2012.

I bought the game from Sainsburys today, probably my first mistake.

If you are talking about the code for the black emporium dlc you didn't actually pay for it, it is free with new copies, but since it expired I do not actually think you have a right to get it free, talk to the people at https://help.ea.com/.

I've been able to sort it out,
I took a chance and phoned EA about it and they gave me a code for the signature edition of DA2!
Definitely worth the initial annoyance
