Don't even get me started on the Cerberus intel either.

The one which we had a choice of uploading to Alliance, Ceberus or EDI? Yeah, that's also dissapointing. I thought that if we uploaded to EDI for example we'll have some new mission available that is related to this intel. Like neutralising some Cerberus base at least.

That's just one of many things...the Normandy still has the Reaper IFF, the Prothean Orb from Overlord...

I know you can only make so many things matter but come on....

They brought the Rachni back even if you killed the queen in ME1. Choice is practically an illusion in this series. You still end up at the same damn place.

Well there is a consequence in the sense that the fake rachni queen goes on a rampage which makes you lose the rachni support AND get deducted from your war asset.

In short, the disappointment stems NOT from the fact that there were no consequences but that they were all formulated into simple numbers on a meter.

I wanted visible consequences of my decisions and not some casual sidenote etc.

Just wanted to clarify that point for everyone. :)

What's even more hilarious is that you don't get the Reaper brain/heart until AFTER the EMS check for the endgame (which as I understand is when you launch the assault on Cerberus HQ).

So in other words, they're both worth 0 EMS.

That was like some half-assed side mission to begin with. Its only real purpose was to give you an example of how to find N7 missions. Something that minor shouldn't even be a priority for the game devs; at best it should give you an e-mail or maybe some upgrade.

It's funny cuz Mike Gamble seems to think that this is an appropriate consequence to our choice

What choices?  Did Michael Gamble develop the same game we are playing?

Part of the fun in previous ME games was thinking some of your choices may come back to bite you hard in ME3. Not much played out that way, sadly.

It seems a lot of ME3 was more geared to *newcomers* to the series, as a "stand-alone" game. It just didn't have the feel of ME 1 or 2.

This.  I had a major WTF? moment on Cronos when I saw the Human Reaper.

Not just that but if I am remembering right, it was just background, too.  It did nothing, added nothing.

Yeah, probably the past choises are mostly irrilevant (yes, some choises could change the story in tuchanka, but, while that it's a very good piece of writing and one of the best parts in ME3, togheter with Rannoch, in the end it means just a small nuber in the EMS), because the game was geared toward newcomers, forgetting what fans wanted.
And, as i've said, hearing from Gamble that the collector base made a difference because it changes your choises if your ems are less than 3000 it's just insulting to the fanbase.

If they wanted toget newscomers in they could have done some comics to set your previous choises like for ME2, i was pretty astonished when i've heard that without an imported saved game ME3 asks only who died on you...

so, you haven't actually played the game all the way through have you?

That article is from, like, two days after release.  It's vague and misleading at best.

I have only beaten it twice and both of those games were with a destroyed collector's base.  So yeah, I haven't really seen all the other endings.  Can you link me to all the endings?

"Save the Reapers/Become a Reaper" ? Not sure what they mean, becoming a Reaper is "Control ending right? What's this "Save the Reapers" thing there?

Well to some extent we got to see that play out like with Conrad on whether we get his full paper and he lives or dies and with... yeah that's about the only thing that played out through side quests, maybe you can count Bringing Down the Sky as another effect seeing thing on whether Balak lives or not but since that's DLC it's REALLY pushing it. I even got paranoid about not doing some side missions in 2 so I went back and did them all before 3 came out. Glad to see that meant nothing =/

Seems that way. Really really minimal EMS difference but that's it. Shame, because I really stressed about that decision in ME2.

Just like destroy/rewrite the geth, save/destroy the rachni queen, abandon/save the Council... doesn't really matter. And nothing even remotely matters in the face of this game's ending.

The only choices that actually mattered all related to the genophage: Mordin alive? Save genophage cure? Wrex alive?

I'm still not entire sure why the Brain is worth more than the Heart. After all, "Heart Cooks Brain."
(if you get this extremely vague reference, then I'm pretty sure I love you)

No no.  I think its only like 10 War Asset points.

Oh sorry, nevermind. The difference is only like 10 war asset points.  Yes, you're right, one of the biggest decisions in the 3 games can be easily topped by one attempt at plannet scanning.

It was the biggest decision? I daresay not. Fans only concluded that just because it happened to be at the end of the game.

What was a bigger descision than this in ME2?

Which squad mates did what was far more important than blow the base or not.

Which is still very disapointing, since you're gonna get there with high EMS anyway.

Yep.

Destroying/Rewriting the Geth actually does seem to matter, if the formula going around for being able to make peace on Rannoch is accurate.  It just matters in conjunction with a whole host of other variables, like whether or not you got Tali exiled.
