The story had so many moments that I didn't expect. it had me from the very opening scene. The whole game brought a dark and gloomy feel to it and it showed in its enviroments, characters and tone of the story.
The characters were very well done and all of them made me feel something regardless of wether I liked them or not from adversaries that appose Hawke' like Night Commander Meredith to companions and possable LI's like Merill. The combat was absolutely amazing and I hope bioware uses the same engine for DA3.
I just loved the whole package. I was a little weary about buying the game at first because I didn't really like Origins and I've heard so many complaints on DA2 but I was plesantly surprised when I got a chance to play it.
while DA2 isn't perfect, it's an amazing predecessor to Origins.
anywho, thanks for caring to read. I just thought i'd show my appreciation for one of my new favorite dark fantasy games.
REALLY great job bioware. I might even pre order DA3. <3

Good for you. You should replay it again as another class and pick a new LI.
I've already started a new playthrough. It feels kind of weird not playing as a mage but the rogue is still a really cool class. I think I'm going to try and romance Fenris this time around. For curiosities sake.

I don't know that it's fair to make the assumption that the OP may have not played older Bioware games.Ryllen Laerth Kriel wrote...
It's cool that you liked it and all, but you likely haven't played much of Bioware's previous games so I do worry a little about your basis for comparisson to their other titles. Either way, different strokes for different folks!
Some folks who have played and enjoy DA2 may be long time players of Bioware games. Some may not be. A person's gaming history isn't necessarily relevant to whether or not (s)he enjoyed a single game - it's possible to look at a game within a series as an entity all on its own. So too, it could just be a case that something about the game resonated with the player.

Oh and try to get a companion at 100% rivalry; gives some other scenes in the questioning believes for example. You could rivalmance Fenris. He'll love you anyways

Given that you didn't like DA:O, there was no particular reason for you to be wary of DA2.
You'd have had more to worry about if you'd loved Origins

If you didn't in your first playthrough, try the rivalry path for various companions. There's some great stuff there.

Games are an art form. Love/like/dislike/hate. only matters if you don't comment on it.

Dragon Age: Origins - 4 full playthroughs before getting bored, attempted three additional playthroughs but became bored after finishing the origin story.
Dragon Age 2 - 6 full playthroughs, still having fun with it.
DA:O is superior in ways, but I felt DA2 has a bigger Fun Factor.

LMAO 6 full playthroughs my ass. If you said that for origins I would believe you.

If you are a video game fan who didn't like playing Dragon Age: Origins, then it seems you are almost fated to like DA2. The fact that people who did not like DAO at all wound up loving DA2 should be a good indicator of why there was such a wave of backlash and hate against the game.
It wasn't a horrible action game (although it wasn't a GREAT action game, in my opinion), but it wasn't a true Western-style RPG video game. It wasn't a very good sequel to a game, even if it wasn't a horrible game.
If World of Warcraft, a single player RPG MMO, was instead marketted under the name Warcraft 4, when the Warcraft series had previously been a Real Time Strategy series involving large unti combat and resource management, people would have been a little angry as well. Instead, it was marketed as its own product that existed within the same Warcraft universe. And it has been wildly succesful.
I'm glad the OP and others can enjoy DA2, but it was a poor WRPG sequel and a poor follow up to the formula that won them Game of the Year less than 18 months before it was released. Which is what was and continues to be frustrating to many of us who were fans of Origins and many of the RPG games Bioware made previously.

If only there were a way to find out what someone has been playing. Like a button you could push to see their character.Aldaris951 wrote...

The queen fainted, and the king - the powerful and noble king - gasped in despair. All over the kingdom, black clouds invaded the skies, chasing the birds away, as though the lands themselves were donning the colors of grief.
"How is that even possible?" whispered a knight. "Surely, there's a mean to convince the Video Game Fan that he cannot like Dragon Age 2. It is so unnatural!"
"I heard he already played it six times," replied another.
"Six times? That's a lie! Nobody can play Dragon Age 2 six times."
But there was nothing that could be done. All the magic, all the swords, all the gold, the jewels and the diamonds, were useless against the terrible fate that had just befell the Video Game Fan. That was the price to pay for defying the gods by not liking Dragon Age: Origins, and it would be paid in full.
Meanwhile, the Video Game Fan was laughing and enjoying his game without a care in the world...
