Wait... so Jacob cheats on you regardless of if you romance him in ME2?

Yeah that was some kind of sick joke... like the writers were thinking up things to do with Jacob.

"Hey, let's let him meet a chick and start a family."

"Cool beans. But what if FemShep romanced him? We could make him have a professional relationship with Dr. Cole. Cuz, you know, we're already doing something like that for Shep/Tali/Garrus."

"Nah, that's too much work. Let's just make him cheat on FemShep! It's the same amount of work for the voice actors, but it's less work for us!"

Somebody shoulda gotten canned for that.

Yea It's lazy writing to me ... It would not have been difficult to just change a few Lines and 'Wa La' ... Jacob still considers the Scientists his "Family" but he waited for Femshep and then when you go back to the Citadel and Jacob is in Huerta Hospital you can have a Big reunited moment where they Kiss, Hug and possibly go to a private room in the Hospital and 'Play Doctor'.

But Nope, screw everyone who Romanced Jacob ... LIARA is over there, go get her! --------------------------->

It was kind of frustrating that they clearly put very little thought into the one off ME2 Romances (Miranda, Jacob, Thane ETC) and put SO much overtime work into Liara's to make people swap, or at least it seemed like that >.< . (Really the only ME2 one off romance I thought got a decent follow up was Jack)

I was with you until you thought Jack got a decent follow-up, lol. The kissing on Grissom Academy was great, me gusta.

But the whole dance thing was terrible... because you go dancing with her whether you romance her or not. sadface.

I think Miranda got the best treatment (which isn't saying much, because they all got pretty shabby treatment... Miranda's was just the least-bad). At least with Miranda, you get fade-to-black sexin'.

It seems to me that the best option currently for Jacobmancers is to romance him and then send him into the vents.

At least that way you can pretend he was a faithful man who's life was tragically cut short...

Oh come one, he´s just that kind of guy. There were enough hints (he´s not good enough for Miranda, but he is for you :D) to point to the direction he would take. I think this wasn´t lazy, it was surprisingly different! And if my Renegade FemShep survived, she´ll probably slay him (sorry for his kid though xDD)!!

Jacob has this complex where if he's in a group with a female leader, he will attempt to bang her.
Miranda, FemShep, Brynn... all he cares about is his priiiiiiiize.

Poor Jacob. Almost the entire fanbase hates him so he finds someone he doesn't and then gets hated for that too!

I've never understood the Jacob hate. He's one of the few squadmates you wouldn't run a mile from if you met them in reality.

I'd run a mile.
Too bad Javik wasn't thawed out back then so he could throw Jacob out the airlock.

There should be a conversation after that mission where Shepard and Tali talk about what a b*tch she is. It could be a great sisterly bonding moment.

Also during this conversation Shepard will be eating a big tub of ice cream.

F*cking lol'd.

This should be part of the "Extended Cut" DLC.

Well yes, I was surprised and I like that. People are supposed to feel differently about characters and roleplay so I have no problem with that. But I do not like how the material for a romanced FemShep and a friendly FemShep got mashed together.

How can Jacob cheat on you if you didn't romance him?

Same reason Garrus cheated on me with Tali when I didn't romance him. That hussy.

Jack was not my main Romance, I didn't romance her in 2 until like my 4th Playthrough...

But I dunno, even though you both Dance regardless of whether you Romance or Not. All the conversations are different, whether it be in the Kodiak, In the Bar, At Grissom Academy and before the Final Battle in London it was different enough and I just had such a more fulfilled feeling after all the Meet-Ups with Jack, I felt nothing of the sort when I saw/experienced the other Romances.

It's funny because (some) Talimancers actually feel this way.

She's innocent, she's just after his body. Garrus, Garrus is a bastard. He knows. He knows I know. That summb*tch knows exactly. I'm on to him.

But...I don't see how they did.

Does he apologize for dating FemHawke the Scientist? Does he say he's sorry for things not working out?

In my personal opinion, they shouldn’t have introduced romances that they didn’t intend to be fair to in ME3.

And they shouldn’t be introducing new romances in ME3 in lieu of giving the ones from ME2 a proper farewell (Allers, I’m looking at you /shudder).

I would rather have seen no new ones at all in ME2 than having them come to such sorry ends in this game – and this is without actively pursuing any of them myself. Especially for female players, it’s harsh that out of the four possible heterosexual love-interests for the 3rd game, one cheats, and one dies.

I love how people are comparing slavery, mass rape, and chemical lobotomies to being dumped.

Stay classy BSN.

For the record,

Bioware didn't do this because they are racist. Bioware did it because he was unpopular and they knew they could get away with it. They probably didn't even think of the implications of what they did until people started pointing it out. I hate Jacob's turn, a lot. But I don't really like throwing the race card around.

And really, look at all of the other stuff they've done in Mass Effect 3 that shows they weren't really thinking. You know it's true.

What, would you deny Chobot the ability to "sex herself"? (I can't believe she actually said that).

Especially for female players, it’s harsh that out of the four possible heterosexual love-interests for the 3rd game, one cheats, and one dies.

Yeah if one is a hetero female your options can be so limited that, depending on what you done, you could have zero hetero LIs for ME3.
Granted this might be possible for males too, but it's far easier for this to happen with females considering both Thane and Jacob get cut out in meaningless ways.

The thing is that there are players out there that haven't played through ME1 and ME2.  So BW needed to add in characters that you can romance without any prior history.  Although I would imagine anyone that's playing ME3 as their first game would be sooooo lost.

Despite agreeing that Jacob really does not treat femshep well I still fully expected him to do something like this in the 3rd game.  Liara is probably not the best judge of character in the game lol when she said that Jacob is a good guy (this is true!) and that he's stable (this is not true!).  As others have pointed out he's very flighty (not really his fault), and that whole thing with his father (i'd imagine it'd mess anyone up).

Compare to Ash or Kaidan, who pretty much worship Shepard and put him/her on a pedestal, I really didn't see that jacob felt this way at all.

Guys always get Liara. So they always have at least one hetero romance.

But it would be hilarious if Steve and Kaidan were the only options.
