There should have been an option to get him killed in that scientist base. :D

I'd run a mile.
Too bad Javik wasn't thawed out back then so he could throw Jacob out the airlock.

Ah, so that's where "the prize" thing comes from. Point taken...

Cuz Bioware and laziness. They probably didn't want to bother putting in resources on Jacob and his romance arc so, like Thane, they give like 2 dialogues of acknowledgement. The worse part is that FemShep is all ok with it after.

Well yes, I was surprised and I like that. People are supposed to feel differently about characters and roleplay so I have no problem with that. But I do not like how the material for a romanced FemShep and a friendly FemShep got mashed together.

But...I don't see how they did.

Does he apologize for dating FemHawke the Scientist? Does he say he's sorry for things not working out?

There are a couple of unfortunate combos. For example even a dumped FemShep get's the line that Brynn wants to name the kid after Shepard. That hurts quite a bit. Hmm... and I find it a little strange, wanting your child to have the name of the woman you stole your man from. Let's just hope junior never asks why he/she was named that way. And even if Brynn did do that, I just don't see Jacob being so cruel as saying something like that to someone he dumped. It's just a really sad combo.

There are a bunch of such things. Welcome over to the Jacob-thread if you want to know more. Don't feel like typing a novel at the moment   =)

In my personal opinion, they shouldn’t have introduced romances that they didn’t intend to be fair to in ME3.

And they shouldn’t be introducing new romances in ME3 in lieu of giving the ones from ME2 a proper farewell (Allers, I’m looking at you /shudder).

I would rather have seen no new ones at all in ME2 than having them come to such sorry ends in this game – and this is without actively pursuing any of them myself. Especially for female players, it’s harsh that out of the four possible heterosexual love-interests for the 3rd game, one cheats, and one dies.

The thing is that there are players out there that haven't played through ME1 and ME2.  So BW needed to add in characters that you can romance without any prior history.  Although I would imagine anyone that's playing ME3 as their first game would be sooooo lost.

Despite agreeing that Jacob really does not treat femshep well I still fully expected him to do something like this in the 3rd game.  Liara is probably not the best judge of character in the game lol when she said that Jacob is a good guy (this is true!) and that he's stable (this is not true!).  As others have pointed out he's very flighty (not really his fault), and that whole thing with his father (i'd imagine it'd mess anyone up).

Compare to Ash or Kaidan, who pretty much worship Shepard and put him/her on a pedestal, I really didn't see that jacob felt this way at all.

So, it is all right to shiv already existing romances in the gut in favour of fan-service for new players?

For new male players – there’s always Liara. As far as I can tell, you could probably romance Liara while standing on your head, having your feet tickled – it’s the ‘main’ romance.  She’s there regardless of what you’ve done previously in the game, right? For new female players, well… to be honest, they didn’t introduce a new, straight, female love interest, did they? Instead they booted old ones out the door. I liked Vega more than I thought I would, but he’s not a possible romance anyway.

I’m just sad to see people who have played the game and invested in the old romances be tossed to the side in favour of Allers. Wouldn’t you rather have had Jack back on board? Or Miranda?

The Angry One : Hah… sex herself… yuck. As for male players, I don’t think it’s possible, is it? I think that regardless of choices – can’t you still romance Liara in the 3rd game? Or is there something you can do to actually get her off your tail?

It's fair that Jacob can cheat, since people do. Indeed, we the player can.

However, it would be great if femshep had the option of going stalky, losing all perspective, murdering his new woman and then leaving terrifying notes in his coat pockets hewn from crumpled paper, crayons and bile.

Six months isn't that long a period of time. Especially to move on, get a new gal... AND knock her up on top of it.

Plus, with a romance, that "I'm talking her out of naming the baby after you" dialogue just comes across as incredibly insulting imo. Jacob is just terrible, clearly

Same reason Garrus cheated on me with Tali when I didn't romance him. That hussy.

She's innocent, she's just after his body. Garrus, Garrus is a bastard. He knows. He knows I know. That summb*tch knows exactly. I'm on to him.

He just wants to park his fleet in her flotilla.

I'm not sure. I assumed it was possible to lock out the Liara romance but thinking about it again I guess not.

The Angry One:  I'm not sure myself. Never romanced her.  Looking at the Wiki, it seems likely she's available no matter what - " The dialogue in this scene will slightly differ depending on whether Liara was romanced in ME1 and stayed faithful to in ME2, or just recently romanced in ME3."

But I can't say for sure. Might just be the impression I got somehow and I'm wrong :)

The only locked-out romances in ME3 are Tali and Garrus. The others, you can start fresh.

If you didn't romance them do they say something to you implying you had a romance with them when you catch them in the act of making out?

Sad thing to say. I'm not African American but I think someone needs to say this.

Jacob is an idiot because he doesn’t look for an equal relationship. Both Miranda and Shepard were emotionally more mature. He was not on equal par. A good marriage needs two people that are on equal par. If my husband while dating me called me a Prize, I would have kicked his A**. No one owns you, they are just allowed to enjoy your company.

The color of his skin shouldn't define his behavior.

Hehe, reminds me of how Jacob in ME2 says that Miranda deserves someone better than him. Apparentely that doesn´t count for Shepard too:S

His romance was just lazily done in ME3, like many other things in this game. IF he was going to cheat, they should've given more of his perspective, unlike the crap they pulled. And yes, it looks bad that Jacob is the only LI to cheat.

Likewise, if you cheated on your LI in ME1, there probably should've been the scenario where Ash/Kaiden wouldn't take you back. It's only fair.
