It's fair that Jacob can cheat, since people do. Indeed, we the player can.

However, it would be great if femshep had the option of going stalky, losing all perspective, murdering his new woman and then leaving terrifying notes in his coat pockets hewn from crumpled paper, crayons and bile.

This made me LOl.

I think people are misinterpreting what "Miranda was too good for me" means

Its a nice way of saying that Miranda was too high maintenance or that she needed constant support

Not "she was not a cheap date and didn't put out"

why would he cheat on you?

Really? First his father isn't around when he's growing up...then he is only there to tap dat azz. Glad to see there aren't any stereotyped characters in this game. :?^_^

My teenage son saw me playing the Jacob loyalty mission and started laughing. It took him about 10 seconds to see the stereotyping.

So your one black crew member runs off and has a baby with another woman.... well least they didn't stereotype him or anything.

Jacob is a player.
BTW. Why would he choose Shepard instead of Miranda?
Jacob tapped Miranda and dumped her. That is the kind of character he is.

Its poor writing in ME3 that Jacob wants a family: The Jacob character in ME2 and Galaxy would never settle down. He believes that he needs to date girls in every single planet in the Galaxy. He needs to sample all fruits before knowing what fruit is best.

Since I am a man:What is Jacob's charm? Does he have big feet/hands?

(Jacob was the character that surveyed most in ME2. About 90% of players managed to keep him alive in the suicide mission. I am that 10% that got him killed. Expendable-

This was most likely done because they were cutting corners with player outcomes.

So:

- His father wasn't there for him while he was growing up.

- He joins the Alliance; then quits.

- He joins Cerberus; then later quits that too.

- He dates Miranda for a while, and either she, or he breaks it off.

- He dates Femshep; then leaves her.

Assuming they survived that war; she's likely going to be raising that kid on her own at this rate.

Going just a bit OT here for a sec though, despite the Jacob thing, I thought it was epic to hear LadyHawke and FemShep fight over a man. Battle of the BioWare PCs!

It would not be so bad if they had, you know, had more development

as it stands its

Jacob: I got another girl pregnate and i am staying with her

Brynn: He is better with me anyway and I deserve him

Shepard: Ok, cool baby. See you later

Feels rushed and underdeveloped but could have been a cool plot point

(Funny how Jacob cheats when Miranda is the one who wants casual hookups on the extranet)

Actually, Miranda only wanted a child hence the "casual" hook ups.

He wanted to start a family and Shepard is the leader of the anti-Reaper resistance. It wasn't selling out, it was buying in.

I know that quote is old is all get out, but I couldn't help my laugh myself stupid reading those in Mallory and Lana's voices XD

But, yeah, Jacob's romance in ME3 is horrible, but he doesn't kinda warn  you to what he's about in ME2.

1. )He wasn't interested in FemShep in the beginning, she has to make the first move. He's very indifferent towards her. Hell, even with Garrus, who also doesn't show any interest in the beginning, tells a dirty joke. Something FemShep can "work" with, instead of the awkwardness with Jacob.

2.) He called you a "Prize" like somebody else mentioned. Sure, the line is funny, but when you get down to it..being called a prize when you're dating somebody is crazy.

3.) He has Daddy issues regardless of what he says to you. That **** is still effecting him. "Haunting, more like." I don't believe his mother was ever brought up in any conversation. Where the hell is she at in his life?? He has relationship issues.

4.) He never tried to contact you while you were locked up. Even Thane's sick ass tries to call you no matter what gender or relationship status.

And, then there's things like unpopularity that comes into play. Man didn't even get a change of outfits in ME2. And he just seems to off putting when talked to in ME2. Smart mouth fool. I've got your "forced talkes"!

I haven't played Jacob's romance -- I've only watched the final cutscene on youtube -- so I'll leave it to everyone who did to decide how out of character the whole situation was. All I'll say is I was getting major skeevy vibes from him back in ME2, when he called Shepard a 'prize' and then offered his famed 'I love you' as a last ditch effort to get into her pants. This did not strike me as a stand up gentleman who valued their relationship.

The part that bugs me is him getting Brynn pregnant. It just seems like a stereotype. If he'd just moved on to someone else without using a baby as an excuse, I probably wouldn't find it so distasteful.

I agree that it was probably the fact that he was wildly unpopular as a romance that they decided to do this. I wonder if secretly they've always wanted to buck the formula and end a romance badly for once, but they couldn't risk the fan anger. So when Jacob's stats popped up, they finally had their chance.

It's true.

And Brynn rubs it in your face.

It sounds like a joke, but it isn't.

There should be a conversation after that mission where Shepard and Tali talk about what a b*tch she is. It could be a great sisterly bonding moment.

Also during this conversation Shepard will be eating a big tub of ice cream.

I think everyone is too harsh on Brynn. Jacob is the bad guy here (technically, the writers are the bad guys). Brynn is pregnant, under stress from the Cerberus attack and now she has to compete for her man against possibly the most famous, awesome woman in the galaxy (who currently holds all of their lives in her hands). Given his actions so far, we have no idea when during their relationship Scumbag Jacob informed her about his relationship with Shepard and that he was still in love with her. How would you handle that? I just felt bad for her, personally.

Then again, maybe I'm just going easy on her because she's Lady Hawke. ;P She deserves a better man than him.

Yeah. My Shep was not pleased. Even though she never romanced him, the dialog still plays out as if she did. I was totally perplexed as to why Shep was getting all up in Jacob's business, prodding him with questions about Brynn and so forth. It made 100% NO SENSE in my Shep's world.

Shepard: Jacob, who's your lady friend?
Jacob: She's..
Shepard: When did you meet?
Jacob: Well...
Shepard: How do you know her? What's her deal?
Jacob: It's..
Shepard: Who is she?

What the sh**? My Shep doesn't give a **** what Jacob is doing, never mind who he's boinking. So why is she forced into a conversation that makes her out to be some crazed stalker? Not cool, Bioware.

I thought this was terrible characterisation, but it's also hilarious as hell. As I said, Dr Cole has some serious balls to talk that grade A sh*t right into the face of the galaxy-saving marine who could biotic charge her arse right through a window.

Eh. That's perfectly logical if you don't allow yourself to be blinded by protagonist-centric morality. And besides, accusations of whinge go back to ME1, and I seriously don't remember him complaining once. By far, the whiniest ME1 character is Garrus.

(And Cole talkin smack.... I was just thinking, what the hell is her problem??)

When I watched it on YouTube, I believed for an instant--and very strongly--that Shepard was going to go Jeremy Kyle and slap a ho.

I think Kaidan is just fun to make fun of (or rather, Kaidan's dialog...it's not really his fault, now, is it?)

Ha! That would have been a nice option. Double smackdown... get Jacob in the mix too.

A lot of people say Kaidan is whiny cos Raphael Sbarge voiced Carth in KotOR and Carth was whiny as heck.
Although he is a little whiny at the start of ME3 (so is Ash for that matter) he has good reason to be.

EDIT:
Also I never liked the Jacob character.

Except when  he was doing Miranda's job as XO.

Aye.

Miranda's way out of his league but apparently Sheps good enough for a date and dump.
