Difficulty: Normal

PC: Warrior Tank/Champion/Templar
Sten: Two-Handed DPS
Lelianna: Archer/Lockpicker/Trapdisarm
Wynne: Healer

Playthrough #2

Difficulty: Hard

PC: Mage, Healer/Spirit Healer
Lelianna: Archer/Lockpicker/Trapdisarm
Allistair: Warrior Tank
Morrigan: DPS/CC

Playthrough #3

Difficulty: Normal

PC: Dual-Wielder/Lockpick/Trapdisarm/Duelist/Bard
Shale: Tank
Morrigan: Healer (used respec mod)
Oghren: Two-Handed DPS

Playthrough #4 (in progress)

Difficulty: Nightmare

PC:
Warrior Tank/Champion/Templar
Allistair: Tank/Champion/Templar
Wynne: Healer/Spirit Healer
Morrigan: DPS/CC

I am finding my current playthrough to be easier than any I have done before.  Likely a combination of having beaten the game three times and having two mages in the party.  I'm loving this party makeup.  PC and Allistair can debilitate foes like crazy and do decent damage (Allistair moreso than main, as Allistair won't be utilizing Shield Wall), while Wynne focuses on Heals and doing Stonefist occasionally, while Morrigan rips it up with her DPS.

Two handed Warrior Shale or Zevran depends then Wynne/Morrigan would be the best for my favorite group set up. Though I hate having two mages, well I hate Wynne honestly so, practical favorite would be 2h warrior / Shale Zevran and Morrigan. Two handed is capable of acting as tank, shale covers in house aoe damage. Zevran is interchangeable with Leliana (I used to hate bards but I'm finding captivating song is so...amazing. Morrigan sits back using mass paralysis/earth quake. (Two handed immune to knockdown while Shale/Zevran/Leliana can use multiple scattershot/hurl boulder.) It works quite well. Paralysis explosion is also a nice mix since my 2h warrior is always templar and thus always in Knight commander armor + dwarf netting him a ridiculously overpowered spell resistance of 80%.

If you're honestly committed to shapeshifting I should warn you damage is based entirely off strength, not magic despite the tooltip. Thoroughly tested strength is the only contributor to damage.
