I just bought the 360-Version just to see if it really is so bad as everyone is suggesting (still have to trade it in because the 360 version you get here in germany just has the german synchro and it is atrocious) and to my surprise it ISN'T. Sure there are occasional blurry textures and some objectshadows are missing but the game looks good and more imortantly runs VERY smooth as soon as you install it to your harddrive. I was even more suprised at how well the UI is integrated, it doesn't feel like a poor PC Port AT ALL in that regard. i'm quite happy now, because i can play it on my huge TV spread out on the couch. I'll buy the PC-Version later, when it's in the bargain-bin which will happen much sooner than on console.

I think the 360 graphics look good, especially on my 52' HDTV

I have to agree that it looks pretty bad on the X360. So far I'm having fun though.Good story, good acting.

But the visuals are very drab, washed out and rusty looking. It stutters when the camera moves during cut scenes. The design is good and the characters look nice. It's definitely a performance issue.

I'm installing it to my HD right now. I'll let you know what I think afterwards.

By the way, I don't have a PC and I have no intent of ever playing this on a PC, so I'm not some biased PC-head with an axe to grind.

OK, installed in on the X360 HD.

Less jittery/stuttering in the cut scenes. And load times might be a little smaller. Less weird cutting in- and out- of cut scenes and to battles. An improvement, but not a great improvement.

The landscapes are really flat and drab. Reminds me of a modded up Morrowind... Not terrible, but definitely old looking.

The voice acting is excellent though.

I'm playing on 360 and while the graphics certainly are not top notch they get the job done. I'm into dragon age for the story the game play and the characters. After 4 hours of play I don't even notice the graphics anymore.

How many games have I played that looked really fantastic but were only 4-8 hours in content?

I cannot count them using both hands... Super Juiced up graphics requires an immense amount of development time. Development time that I am sure was better spent in Dragons Age developing the story...

I feel Mass Effect suffered from a similar situation. The overall game was satisfying; however I found the game content to have been lacking. The time it took to get ME to look as great as it did took away from other aspects of the game. Aspects like meaningful and diverse side quests (non repetitive...), boring lifeless uncharted worlds, meaningful character stats and equipment pages, and a gimped inventory management system...

Developers make games to make money; don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And as such they need to make a profit so they can continue to make more content and more games. They have to decide how much is a feasible amount of time and money they can spend on certain aspects of a game they are developing and still be able to make money off of it. I am not sure how long the game was being made for but I do know from playing it that the Bioware decided to spend that development time on content, story, and playability rather than pure eye candy. And I for one am glad they have; it has produced a very entertaining video game.

It has been my experience that games basically try to have a balance between content, playability, and eye candy. Usually too much of one take away from the others, you do get those games once in a while that have all three maxed out, though they are few and far between. With Dragons Age content and playability have been amped up, while eye candy (there is some still in there) has taken a hit. I would rather play it now as it is then wait another 2+ years it would take to develop the graphics to the high expectations modern games seem to have today. Who knows, it may still be considered out dated by then and we would still not have this fantastic game to play.

I installed it to my HD on the 360 before playing and have felt the graphics were done really well. If it weren't for higher ups in the office today I seriously would've considered calling off sick just to play more.

I have the 360 version and I agree the graphics are something not to be desired, but neither are the graphics for the PC and PS3 versions. This game is about gameplay and depth, and it should be universally known that if graphics is what you are looking for then this game on any platform is not the way to go. For example, I've seen a ton of reviews that give the PC an 8 for graphics and the 360 a 7.6. This to me translates to cra**y graphics regardless of system.

The game is awesome regardless.

I installed it on the 360 HD and it plays very smooth.

Installed mine to my hard drive, graphics look horrible. As I stated in another thread, it's one of the worst looking games for the xbox 360 I have seen. If you saw any Xbox previews and thought that it looked like Everquest 10 years ago, sadly that is about what it looks like when actually playing it. I am big fan of all the Bioware games and think ME was one of the best games of all time, but I am having a hard time getting into this one. PLEASE UPDATE THE GRAPHICS BIOWARE!!!

seriously your kidding right?  The character models in general have slightly less resolution than mass effect but they are smoother and the faces look much better.  the armor design is really good and looks pretty good, not state of the art but still good.  Spell effects are really good as well and more importantly i haven't noticed any slow down when there is a lot of action going on.

I have Everquest installed on my pc right now and even with all the graphical updates they have done over the years it does not look as good as Dragon Age.  Everybody is seriously overreacting Bioware has done an amazing job.  Just the gameplay alone makes this an excellent game add to that the storyline and how fully they crafted this world and it's history makes it a masterpiece.

Thats what you get when you play on an old console like the 360. Live with it or switch to the PS3 or PC.

I can't speak in an official capacity regarding perceived limitations of hardware or formats, or a deliberate attempt to slap our fans in the face... what I can tell you is that I have played the XBox 360 version extensively and never had the graphics hamper my enjoyment of the game. If you can get past what you perceive as poor graphics, I am sure you will greatly enjoy the content. It's understandable that you may feel slighted that the PS3 version has been reported to have better graphics by some game sites, but the difference is really not that substantial.

Umm so u figured that they turned down graphic before doing previews?? Goood thinking champ...

Oh yeah and as other has said the graphic isnt top of the line, but saying that its the ugliest xbox360 game and comparing it to a ps2 game or everquest 1 is beyond stupid obv, and makes u look like a troll to be honest.

The game looks fine on the 360. I play on a 56" television. It looks fine. It's not the best looking game, but then again most of the best looking games only have 6 hours of gameplay. I'll happily trade more hours of quality gameplay for lesser graphics.

People coming in here and stating it's horrible compared to the PC and PS3 are trolling. Texture comparisons are slightly advantage toward the other platforms. Game breaking? Ruining the experience? No.

On the dashboard where you would launch the game; instead of pressing A to play it, press Y for the game details. Install to hard drive is an option.

Ok,  thanks for the info. :)

All I can say is that I have the PC version, I've got all the settings maxed for detail and I haven't really noticed any graphics issues. Looks just as good as the other simultaneous release games I've seen in the past 3 months. (Arkham Asylum, Red Faction, Bionic Commando, Resident Evil 5) I can't speak for the XBOX version at all considering I do not own one, but the PC version looks amazing. Even with X8 Anti-Aliasing, I don't see a drop in framerates ever. I get a smooth 60fps all the time.

The graphics are fine - geez. Kinda like Fable 2 so if you thought that was fine then you'll have no problem with Dragon Age.

I think the 360 version is great.  True, the graphics are not close to cutting edge, but they are colorful and character models are pretty well detailed.  The voice acting and script writing is the best I've seen in a console RPG and I've played many (including Mass Effect).  Don't let the picky reviewers (like Gamespot) throw an wet blanket on your fun.  I think most of them got spoiled playing it on the PC and, naturally, they see the shortcomings in the console versions.
