Yeah it happened in ME1 and ME2 as well, but for some reason it reaaaaally stands out more in ME3....I think it's because it happens WAY more than in previous games...

Plus in previous games it never happened to Shepard, and when it did it was only for his pistol.

Now in ME3 Shepard is regularly popping up with assault rifles and sniper rifles that he never equipped....

So is everybody done arguing with me yet when they are clearly wrong? Anyway, anybody remember the SMG/Pistol swapping scene in lair of the Shadow Broker mid conversation? That was pretty hilarious.

Edit: And for all the ignorant people that want to argue with me about that too...www.youtube.com/watch start at 1:30 and watch Shepard's gun.

This has happened in every game so far.

Not ME2. Every cutscene in that game I can remember from the top of my head, Shepard and co. had their equipped weapons.

Ex. Zaeed had a Mattock on Zorya, Shepard had a Phalanx during Miranda's LM, Shepard had a MAttock during cutscenes on the Suicide Mission, Miranda killed Niket with a Tempest/Locust on Illium, etc.

It happened in ME2 all the time.
In ME3 there are actually situations where Shepard does have the right weapon in cutscenes. That makes me guess that they could do it, but didn't bother to go through with it in the whole game due to time limitations.

Remind me how I "failed to argue with you". By what I typed, it didn't sound like I was arguing, instead pointing out some scenes where it didn't happen. I never said "No, you're stupid, shut up idiot", I just pointed out some examples off the top of my head where Shepard and co. retained their weapons in cutscenes.

I'm sure you have lots of friends if that's how you react to people.

Not only that, but in ME3 they simply vanish at times. There are cutscenes where I have no guns on my back.

Not to mention, the cutscene before the coup had Shepard in his casual clothes, but with his weapons holstered on his back and hips.

Actually, he always uses an M-3 Predator in the cutscenes, not the Carnifax. But I agree, it is a bit annoying, considering you almost always were shown using your chosen weapons in cutscenes for Mass Effect 2.

You attempted to argue with me by disagreeing with FACT. it just makes you look like an idiot who wants to argue because he/she thinks he/she is correct, without even bothering to look it up. It happens pretty damn often in ME2.

The issue is firing the gun. In any cutscene where Shep has to fire the gun, it defaults it to a basic gun. Different guns have different  firing rates and some won't look right in cutscenes.

Really? I didn't notice it in ME1.

Didn't think so either, until I replayed it earlier this week. Doesn't bother me as much as class specific cinematics though. Vanguard shep getting an omniblade out of nowhere and not charging through the window instead of hitting it with my avenger that I'm not even carrying on Grissom academy etc...

But it won't be patched, Bioware never patches things that isn't game-breaking. They've even stopped patching things that are it seems, or just working extremely slow on it.

That's literally the only time it happens (correct me if I'm wrong) and it shows why it doesn't work. Especially in mass effect 3 where half of the assualt rifles and pistols don't even shoot bullets, it would looks WORSE if in cutscenes people's scorpions and particle rifles acted like normal guns.

I'm not aware, I was just putting in the statement that it's been done, incase you weren't aware. I don't have a problem with this gun switching, it's whatever.

It's not necessarily lazy programming. It happens more in ME3 than in the other two because of the revamped weapon system. Every class can choose whatever weapon they want to carry. Having to animate every possible option is extremely tedious work. Does it break immersion? Yes. But no developer wants to spend days coding and animating every cutscene multiple times. In ME1 and ME2 every class had a pistol, so the games could dynamically render that. In ME3, you don't know if that player will have a pistol and/or assault rifle. So they have to make defaults for the cutscenes.

The weird thing is that it doesn't happen all the time - for example I just played one mission and in part of it, Shep is holding the Avenger, then in another cut-scene he's holding the proper weapon, the Valkyrie. Bizarre.

Oh and as for Sdrol117, guys, don't feed the troll.

That's nothing, get him a mattock and let vito get awa and suddenly zaeed invents an automatic mattock that can shoot thirty shoots and only eject 1 heat clip.

Screw the scientist, just get zaeed pissed and give him the crucible, he'll turn it into an automatic reaper killing cannon in no time.

EDIT: oh, and explain this, how exactly does this happen? Zaeed must have really fast fingers.

I could deal with assault rifles showing up on characters who didn't use them in ME2 because it only happened to me in the suicide mission where it sort of made sense, but in ME3 it's just flat out annoying

Because in one mission Shepard has to fire the weapon and in another he doesn't. I'm fairly confident that that is the reason behind the random replacements.
