Alistair does that, the bastard. I had a playthrough where I'd intended he remain a Warden with my Dalish elf. Now I have a real soft spot for Loghain so I couldn't bear to kill him myself (most playthroughs he survives Landsmeet, at least) so I let Alistair do the deed. Same thing, the uppity git made himself king and then dumped my distraught elf. This after she'd told him she was backing Anora.

I was...displeased.

Needless to say, Alistair did not survive his encounter with the Archdemon.

Well, if you have no intention of putting Alistair on the throne there's really no need to harden him. Unhardened Alistair is a perfectly functioning human being, he's just a crappy king.

Alistair I think has the opinion Loghain really did kill all of those wardens deliberately. Hence, it's almost impossible for him to want to let Loghain live.

Always felt, and still will, that Anora is basically pretty cold, ruthless, and power-hungry (gets those traits from da-da), and she's marrying you for power, not for love. She wants power, and having the Hero of Ferelden as consort helps consolidate it, as long as you "know your place". Sure, you'll get the benefits of palace life, but Anora will carefully conceal from all the servants your separate bedroom. If you want lovin', you may have to find your mistress Lel ... or Zev on the down low.

Now apparently if you let da-da live (well you have to, to marry her), he wants heirs for daughter. But remember, she MIGHT be barren (she never gave Cailan any heirs), and you have that GW "thang" reducing your chance of reproductive success. I get the sense she'll permit some clinical attempts, so to speak, at heir production, but that's about all you'll get from her.

I incidentally feel the Alistair-Anora marriage will mostly play out the same way, too. The marriage is arranged, but loveless.

However, I would have liked the chance in game to MAKE it a love match, maybe through some quest etc. that could "change" or "unharden" Anora.

She does have the personality and mannerisms of Loghain.   But that is where I think there is hope.   Loghain does have a soft squishy center behind the hardened exterior...

If you talk to her at Eamons Denerim estate about Cailan and her father you do see a more sentimental side to her.    That and in the post Coronation she does seem to be smitten by your success and seems to be subtlely flirting with you (little giggles and batting eyelashes).     Some would say this is purely an act to manipulate you etc.    But I think there is good reason its sincere given what people in past threads note about her "Electra Complex".    By defeating her father (and possibly sparing him), by defeating the Darkspawn and the Blight you very well could take his place of being the benchmark of heroness.    She after invents the title of "hero of Ferelden" (at least when she is ruler she does) and that is a bit more sweeping then hero of the River Dane.

The bottom line with Anora is something along these lines:

Yeah, I know she's a cold, power hungry, controlling beeyotch.

However, as Jack Nicholson once said, there's nothing in the world sexier than a woman you have to salute in the morning. Anora is hawt and she's the queen.

Although the game doesn't give you the dialog or what not, I always imagine that my charismatic, manly, heroic warden can eventually win her over, warm her heart, and turn it into a royal love match complete with Fade Beast level sessions of passion in the royal bedchamber. After all, under that icy exterior she's still a human being. Right?

Ewww... sooo sorry I peeked into this thread....

Edit:  Uh, sorry, I just realized my husband posted up above and now I'm posting something very different.  LOL  It's murder having only one game to register.

Can someone tell me the steps to getting Anora to marry the Human Male Noble. I know from the toolset that there is a dialogue that says "What if you had a strong king to rule beside you?" But I can never get that dialogue option to appear while talking to Anora. So can someone help????

I think after you get back from Ft Drakon you ask Eamon "She is single right?" then he brings up all the possibilities then you go suggest it to her.

You can speak to Anora about it. Pick the dialogue "What if you had a strong King beside you?" You can also persuade her to make you King-Consort, and you need to remember to mention this at the Landsmeet that you will rule beside her as King, or else she'll rule alone.

I've never seen the "What if you had a strong King beside you?" line appear when dealing with Anora with a Human Noble Male... I've asked the "So she's single, right?" to Eamon, but no luck... I'm starting to think it's broken or something. I've been playing this game for months now, done all the romances, but have never succeeded in this... so I guess it's just not going to happen for my poor male Cousland. Image IPB

That's strange, I've never had a problem getting my Cousland chaps to pop the question. What patch are you on?

This line is supposed to appear when you speak to Anora (even if you aren't a Human Noble, but she simply rejects the idea because the nobles won't accept a non-Human Noble as a King or even a Consort). I wouldn't ask Eamon the "so she's single" line because Eamon never supports the idea of anyone but Alistair on the throne, and I believe asking Eamon removes the line "What if you had a strong King beside you?" when speaking with Anora because I noticed it was gone after Eamon responded to this question.

I'm on the latest patch. 1.04... I'll try it again. And then we'll see. Thanks for all the help. Image IPB

Can't you still say 'Anora will rule beside me' or something of the sort at the Landsmeet even if you haven't arranged it beforehand?

There's a persuasion check option along the lines, but I don't know if it will work.

I've never gotten it to work out as of yet and I've tried every dialogue option there is, even when talking to Eamon, I didn't ask the "So she's single, right?" question. I've tried not choosing any of the lines that would support Alistair as king when talking to her and Eamon. I figured there was a persuasion check somewhere, but it's never come up for me.

I think you have to ask something like "I'll need something more to give you my support" or similar. And then you get the option about how would she like a strong king at her side.

I've never had a problem with it, and I've played through enough times as a human noble to see it if it is a glitch.

EDIT: Hmmm. LadyBlackhawk maybe you could post some screenshots of the dialogue you're getting? It should be simple, most people I've met with problems becoming king had Alistair grabbing the throne at the Landsmeet because they've hardened him. Have you been doing any toolset editing or installed any dialogue/gender-modifying mods?
