Ever since the ending to ME3, i have not only lost my motivation for playing what was my favorite video game series.  I have pretty much lost my will to play video games in general.  This entire chain of events that has happened since March, has made me feel like i cant trust developers anymore or feel any joy over purchasing a product.  I cant even get myself to feel excited over Diablo 3 or AC3.  I never thought that a 10 minute ending could have such a negative impact on me.

Thank you Bioware.

Oh come on now, there are plenty of games out there to play.

I do understand what you're saying though - it's hard playing other games after playing the Mass Effect series. Having a main character that is so dynamic, speaks in cut scenes with what you want to say, etc.

That's why the ending is even more disappointing to most of us - because the games are some of the best games ever made. And they put 99% of other games out there to shame, imo.

I know how you feel. However don't lose hope just yet. The rise of indie gaming is happening, now. Small developers that just care about making great games are starting to really succeed.

I totally understand wanting to avoid big games out there, but you should browse Steam's catalog of games (if on PC) or the XBLA/PSN (the former being significantly more effective than the latter).

Good developers that haven't been swallowed up by publishers yet exist and in a lot of cases they make pretty good games. Like CD Projekt RED.

Whoa, hold on. I know the ending is a literary monstronsity, but there are still plenty of developers out their who care about their fans. This will pass, try Looking up The Witcher 2 and CD Projekt Red the Developer. Not saying you have to like the game, but just see what they say about their fans and how they believe fans should be treated as a consumer/gamer. It's also nice to see their take on DLC.

that sucks mate, i have to agree though, the ending was that bad (in a game that had problems to begin with), there are other games with pretty good storylines that the developers do not nuke, been playing the witcher 2 recently i have enjoyed that.
try giving that game a shot

How many "quitters" has it been now because of just one ending?

I remain confused as to how the ending can be *that* bad to make one hate ALL games. Pretty weird.

Not sure if serious...
... or trolling.

Because it's THAT bad.
Because we spent 5 years anticipating an end to this story, and that end turned out to be one where our main character is a coward, the universe we came to love is destroyed, and the narrative comes to endorse racism and genocide.

That is not something a lot of us can easily get over.

I won't say I'm not concerned, but that has nothing to do with the ending of ME3. Even if the ending means that much to you, it's just one series of games. On the other hand, the focus on DLC and insane (and downright insulting) copy protection schemes like streaming of content are what I'm worried about. This is a general concern though and isn't really BioWare-specific.

I admit, even trying to play Skyrim again (which had me really hooked) results in a two minute play before a sigh then log out. Admittedly, I only completed ME3 a week or so ago, having spent ages getting my stories impeccably prepared in ME1 and ME2... for naught.

Hope this passes... sure it will, in due course.

I just finished the sp campaign last night. I've been pacing myself with multiplayer to stretch out the overall experience. I have to say the ending has left me feeling extremely disappointed. I completed me2 over 10 times and loved every minute but am now worried that the ending of me3 may have runied the series for me. I cant face playing through me1, me2 or me3 again when it finishes in such an unsatsifactory way. Please change the ending bioware :(

bla bla bla <= this is trolling.
OP is just dissapointed. It doesn't mean he hates games in general. I'm sure people know what being dissapointed means: that sense when u kinda wanna say "the hell with everything. It's not worth it. screw everything."... you kno' a state of mind mostly in this case since it's not linked with serious matters, but people tend to care about things in general, even the little ones and we can all be let down by these things more or less depending on the person of course.
My advice OP: Yea sure, wasn't amazed on how it turned out either, but give it time to heal, focus on something else, or if you can't, then try to remember the good times, you kno' "just like old times" - Garrus Vakarian.
That is all.

I have zero interest in any games that involve me getting emotionally attached any more. I'm sticking to Minecraft and MMOs for now.

Simple. It is a sign that even the greatest of game series can and will be rushed out of development ASAP without any thought put into them for a faster release and more dosh. Its what game companies do. In a world like that, you can only be disappointed with what you buy.

Add to that that ME was amazing until ME3, and everyone was that invested in it...
I had closed up everything on every other game simply so I could play ME3 for a month or so, get all my Shepards through and feel epic. I had one playthrough. It took me 3 days. After knowing what it could have been... What ME was shaping up to be - the entire series - would have made me quit all bar ME in gaming, and I had all but done that. ME3 comes out, not only have I cut myself off from other games because ME was too epic, but I'm now cut off from ME as well because ME3 ruined the series.

For a more psychological insight, I believe the ending has caused many to suffer from depression and withdraw from gaming to save themselves from being hurt in the future. The ending honestly was that bad considering what it could have been, and what it was hyped up to be.

This is a bit like not reading books any more, because you read one that you didn't like.

I understand that the ending has killed your motivation to play games (it killed mine too for a while) but it'll come back.

Op, I know how you feel. I've been unable to play anything other civilization revolution and forza for the past three weeks. And even that has been hard, every moment I still fill sick at the thought of ME3.

If 1 game gives you that feeling it means that gaming is to influencial on your life and you should stop or slow down anyways.
PS. posting here completely undermines your intention to quit gaming and looks like a cry for attention over anything else.

You'd think people would be used to disappointments in science fiction, video games, movies and well life by now.

I don't feel the same. Instead, I'm gonna stick to playing games made and published by studios that actually enjoy making their games. THQ has a high density of games like that. Darksiders 2, the DoW series, the Saints Row series. All fun games made by devs with a heart for what they do.

Not saying Bioware doesn't have people with a heart for their job, but it's very clear that mentality there is more focused on short term profit and selling product than it is on making something cool.

stick with blizzard games. there's no pretensions about how they might turn out and they've never ever failed to live up to expectations.

Not gonna lie Darksiders 2 is looking great, and it gives me alot of hope given they delayed it to polish it it. They even delayed it with THQ not doing so great right.

It is not a problem with ME3 ending, sounds to me like a problem of your own making developed over time long before you even played ME3. The final 10 minutes of one game should and in my experience does not turn people off gaming unless they already had lost interest in the first place in which case it becomes an excuse to stop or hide behind. There are many greeat games out and coming out, some good and some bad but if your mindset was leaning towards breaking away from gaming in first place then no games no matter how good will change that because at that stage all your doing is looking for an excuse.

That makes no sense. Why would they go with subjects and topics towards the end of their game which are far, far, from mainstream if they only wanted to sell? Slap on a "Shepard kills all reapers, there's no greater mystery and live happy ever after" ending and it would have sold like coffee.

Grow up, making light of someone's pain is pretty petty.
