I can only recommend taking a break from gaming and do other stuff, i did that for 2 weeks or so and now i play The Witcher 2 and gaming is fun again and the disaster i see with ME3 is somewhere behind me

Played the beta a while ago. I have been in beta since October. I know its fun. But its not out yet. And I'm afraid ill be let down by that too.

Translating from hyperbole into a realistic situation: I went to this italian buffet the other day. Yeah, no. Never going to another italian buffet again. I don't care if you tell me this other one is good. Someone told me this one was good, too. Italian buffets are off the menu.

Because we spent 5 years anticipating an end to this story, and that end turned out to be one where our main character is a coward, the universe we came to love is destroyed, and the narrative comes to endorse racism and genocide.

That is not something a lot of us can easily get over.

I've been playing Diable iii the last two days.  I'd reconsider if I were you - its pretty great.  As is the Witcher.  There is life after ME3.  At some point, you'll move on, the pain won't really be there any more, just apathy and disapointment.

But for godsakes, its a free weekend to play Diablo iii -- Do it!

Of course there are more serious things in life, this is why people play games.. to ESCAPE them. A lot of people need to relieve the stress of their lives in some way and what they don't want is to have a game that bangs home the point that life sucks, deal with it. Which is basically what Bioware allowed Hudson and Walters to produce and then support. 

If people want to see that life sucks they just have to turn on the news and watch the latest episode of ****** Sapiens Stupiditus and his ever evolving love of screwing everything up. I play games to enjoy myself, not feel that I've just buried my mother, because quite frankly I did that 8 years ago and I never wanted to feel like that again. Thanks to Bioware, ME3 made me relive that epsiode and I still haven't forgiven them for rekindling that feeling of loss.

Its certainly been a wake up call, not just about Bioware but about the industry as a whole (and the medias role in it)  Not that I didn't already know it, I just never really... took it all to heart much. 

Its not just Mass Effect 3 anymore.  Its Bioware's transformation in the recent years, its their behavior as developers just blatantly lying and not giving a ****, like a good faceless business does and this reflects off many other developers in the industry.  Its EA being the greedy soulless corporation that it is, just like all the others in the industry.  Its the media in its just disgusting sellout nature being in the pockets and the beds of the very companies they are supposed to report on and criticize, going far enough to treat us, the very consumers whos dollars provide the blood for their entire system, whos eyes and ears are the audience they serve, like entitled children that they must protect their overlords from.  And many of us consumers ourselves... well... sadly having no real choice but acting like the entitled children we're made out to be.  That or put our money where our mouth is like cold hard laws of capitalism insists and simply not give our money to any of it anymore, which isn't really as much of a perfect option as its foolishly made out to be. 

Theres just so much bull**** everywhere becoming far too visible and indigestible.  I'm starting to get really turned off of this hobby.  At least turned off the more glamorous mainstream part of it and caring less and less about an increasing majority of new games and even less about the people making them and the media reporting on them.  Same thing happened to me years ago for music and not long too ago for movies, both of those industries I now don't really follow at all just cause I know how much bull**** is going on and just stick with the classic stuff and only rarely finding something new (usually indie) that I care about only after its come out. I guess it makes sense for video games to follow that pattern.  I don't see myself really staying in touch with this industry for much longer.  I'm just tired off all the stupid ass-backwards corporate bull**** going on. 

I knew all this already, honestly.  Its just this whole situation with ME3 has braught it all up to the surface, got me thinking about it a lot more.  Making me sick of it a lot more. 

Thanks for putting it so well. It's been a wake up call for me too and I think that's part of what's hard for a lot of us.

O.P I feel the same. Try not to let you affect you too much though. I do understand, but try to find something else that you can find joy in.

I sympathize. After beating ME and ME2 I couldnt wait to play them again and I did 4 times. I dont even feel like playing ME3 again because I know the ending is basically stone.

Still do for a certain degree never ever imagined the ending to so terrible its ruined gaming haha

I have felt same way until Witcher 2 came out. It make you feel playing real, good old RPG with choices that really matter.

I can understand this. Mass Effect is my favorite series, by far. There isn't any developer out there has the combination that BioWare does. Being able to craft your character, then hearing him/her voiced makes it a much more immersive experience. Your ability to shape the story with your decisions makes you more invested in it. Their characters and stories are much more in depth than many games. No one else has that complete combination. Every other game just feels flat. I hold out a little hope that they will fix this still, but it's been hard to want to play anything.

Bad analogy. A better one is one that applies to me personally...

About fifteen years ago, I loved Jamaican beef patties. Used to get them whenever I could. I bought some from Kroger, got food poisoning so bad that I spent the next 18 hours wishing I'd just die because it was so horrible. After I recovered, which took almost a week, I never wanted to eat another Jamaican beef patty again. In fact, when I see a box of them in the store, I nearly gag and run away from them as quickly as I can because experiencing food poisoning on that level was so horrible that I can't stand the thought of risking that kind of pain and misery again. 

While ME3 did not provide that immense level of pain and misery, it was bad enough so the thought of risking it by trying another game by BioWare (or RPG in general) is enough to make me cringe.

I felt the same way as you for the first couple weeks OP. Just take a break from gaming and it'll get better. It helped me to take a break from BSN too for awhile honestly.
