By Amazing coincidence there is a lot of RPG likers here.  Using my fortune telling skills I say Bioware will read the tea leaves and give us a better Roleplaying experience in the next installment!

Depends on your (and more importantly, the Bioware DA team's) definition of RolePlay.

They have to get away from the railroad ride plots, that give no significant choices.

That sort of depends. If you like shooting maybe a lot of choices would get in the way of having fun shooting.

What does that have to do with anything?

Huh, I was thinking that a lot of choices might take away from the action.  More choices are expected in a fantasy rpg though but I'm not sure people really enjoy too many choices to make If it becames too much work.  Myself I like the choices.

If by RPG you mean a involving story were you decide what happens, then maybe.

If by RPG you mean pointless game mechanics like experience levels and stats, then most likely.

What are you referring to when you say choices?

So...yes then since they did that for all their games?

In this case it would be anything that isn't action.  Which is a strange definition of choices.

I just think its pointless, because to me the most important part of a RPG is the story and stats rarely have any meaning out side of combat.

levels are pointless in Dragon age because enemys scale to your level, meaning that they are always going to the same difficultly

Anyways, I am actually worried that there won't be enough roleplaying opportunities in the game, but if they put in three origin stories that will make it a tiny bit better.

What kind of characters do you think you will be able to play?

The type of character I have always wanted to play, is someone who is old. By old I mean someone who has been adventuring for many years and want to retire, but gets forced into the events of the game.

I hope so but since the EA takeover Bioware seems to be losing interest in such things...

So you're saying that anything that isn't action is too much work? I don't see your logic there.

I don't know.  Do people really like making decisions?  I'd like to know.  Sounds like work to me.

If what you are getting at cJohnOne is wanting to know what people would like to see in an RPG please ask that in your OP.

I will give you my opinion here:

- Yes, I want to make decisions and yes they do have to matter/have meaning
- Yes, RPG needs action in any form because you need some reason/need to level your character.

Is this the kind of reply you're looking for?

Considering Dragon Age Origins was Gamespot's RPG of the year, I sure hope that they keep making the series an RPG. All the players that have bought the games, expecting to find more of what made it the best rpg of the year, when it was first released, expect more of the same, as long as it keeps the words "Dragon Age" as first part of the title.

If you don't like decision making, then why play Dragon Age?

I was just questioning whether or not people enjoy making choices. If so how many choices do that really want to make? I believe the second poster in the thread mentioned wanting choices that matter so I didn't start the choices thing by myself.

@cJohnOne. Making choices is what makes an RPG. If you trust Wikipedia: "A role-playing game (RPG and sometimes roleplaying game[1][2]) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting, or through a process of structured decision-making or character development" Bioware has made a reputation for a style of RPG's that comes from almost 15 years of creating player-decision making, as an important part of their forumla.
