Good point. Please make it tintable :-)DannJ wrote...
Will it be tintable, to make pyrohydras and cryohydras? If not, then it will be soon after it's available (I'm a non-recovering tint-a-holic).

That is one very cool looking model. Do the heads attack together or as separate animations?
The heads attack together as part of the same animation. (If I may get a bit technical, the animation is named c_hydra_una_1attack01.) However, because of the size of the heads compared to the size of a PC, they can't all bite at precisely the same time, but they do get all their attacks in within 1 second.

The single headed version will be good to have as well. The existing snake creature doesn't scale up in size very well.
There was a single snake? I thought that was just the placeholder model for the beginings of the Hydra. I'd love to be wrong, as you are correct that the current snake is less than optimal. Most NWN convert creatures are sketchy at best.

In the original post he mentions the possibility of rigging and uploading a single head version. I hope that's not too much extra work.MokahTGS wrote...

Hey I have the start of a blueprint for this, but can't seem to get the regen stuff working correctly. If anyone would like to take a look I have a test hydra in a module here. Maybe someone smarter than I can get it to work.

In most things I've done, regen has usually been on a creature skin (would be a custom item usually called Hydra Properties). You could also have a script OnHeartBeat, OnDamaged, etc. that heals the desired amount of damage.

Currently the creature is setup like the troll from the toolset, with the troll properties on the creature hide, the creature set to immortal, and the trol scripts on the OnDamaged slot. It is currently not working like the troll does however.

Hi, looks like you found my hydra already. Glad to see that you've started testing it.
I downloaded and ran your test module. There doesn't seem to be any problem with the hydra's regeneration. In fact, it worked really well. I fought the hydra with a high-level ranger/fighter, going at it unarmed at first. The hydra took damage as expected. I then withdrew and hid in plain sight. The hydra stopped fighting and just slithered around a bit. After a while, its health was fully restored.
While still hidden, I renewed my attack on the hydra. Even unarmed, my ranger was able to bring it down. I took a few steps back and waited awhile. Within moments, the hydra lifted all five of its heads and bared its fangs at me. I armed my ranger with an enchanted rapier (acid and cold damage) and enchanted kukri (acid, electricity, and fire damage). Within seconds, the hydra died a true death.
Wasn't that what was supposed to happen?

The Lernean Hydra is now available at the Vault and the Nexus. The downloadable zip file contains models, skeletons, animations, textures, a custom portrait, and sample 2DA files to get the hydra up and running in no time. Just add water and stats, and you'll have your very own bundle of five-headed fun.
The hydra comes in non-tintable and tintable models. Shown above are Natural, Black and Blue, Autumn Death, and Hot Pink Hydra Love.
The plain, one-headed, big old snake will be available for download soon.

Odd, used a ranger in my test too, but I did not use an actual enchanted sword for the kill. I used the spell flaming blades (or whatever its called.) I wonder if there is a game bug that prevents this from working as intended.
If you could, could you try it again, but this time cast the spell to give your weapons the fire enchantment. This does fire damage, and should kill it, but in my tests it did not. I'd love confirmation of what I saw.

Both are immune to their respective elements as well, meaning that the pyrohydra cannot be killed by a fire weapon. You'll need acid to do it.
Here's the updated module.
Ideally, both the Cryo and Pyro versions should breath fire/ice but I can't seem to get them to do that bit. Maybe someone else can get the special ability to work correctly. Currently, they do the elemental damage on hit.

Pyrohydras can apparently also be killed with cold damage. I'm thinking of coming up with a generic troll-like OnDamage script that reads a couple of damage type integers off the creature, so both types of elemental hydra can use the same script (and indeed any other creature that requires specific damage types to die).

Congratulations on the release it is great to see it. Partly because it is cool but mostly because it shows this undead community of ours is ticking over and being creative. Arguably the pink is a little too creative (sorry Ms Strumpet) but none the less there is a module out there just screaming for some five headed hot pink hydra action.
