First off, if there is a thread floating around somewhere that addresses this issues already, I never found it. Sorry if there is though!
So... I'm brand new to the Mass Effect scene, and really Bioware in general to be honest. I started with Dragon Age and practically CONSUMED those games. I adore them! Then some friends start taking about Mass Effect and I figure, hey why not? That looks awesome too!
Since I'm playing on a PS3, I have to start with ME2. No problem, I'll have the background comic. And I went ahead and bought ME3 at the same time to keep this adventure seamless. My problem though, is that I can't even BEGIN the adventure...
ME2 installed perfectly along with all the DLC that came with the disc. The game starts up just fine, taking me to the splash screen and asks me to hit start... I hit start, and then like most games now days a little message pops up informing me that it is "Checking Downloadable Content..." Swell! No problem!
Except, yes. Problem.
I can not for the life of me get beyond this "Checking DLC" screen. The game freezes and locks up on me, the little loading disc in the bottom right corner stops moving and that's all she wrote. I can't even get to the main menu to begin a new game...
Has ANYONE had this problem? Does anyone have a solution? I've contacted Support about it twice and haven't been given any kind of real solution... just a bunch of steps to clear cookies and cache and stuff about corrupted game save files that I DO NOT have, none of which actually helped anything. I've removed and reinstalled the game 3 times, started it up with and without the internet connected, with and without the PSN running, I've done it with and without the Cerberus Network downloaded. I've even traded in the game, which was already a new copy, for another thinking it might just be a bad disc.
All my other games work just fine, so I doubt it's my PS3. I can start a new game with ME3 without issue, but starting from the end is just lame. I bought the games to experience the whole thing, or at least as much as I possibly could from the PS3 side of things.
I'm at my wits end and extremely disappointed...
New game issues...

No one? Really? So it's just me and my problem then...?
That's depressing.

Nope. I went in to it straight out of the plastic wrap, figuring I'd play around and get used to it before messing with DLC and was never even able to start a new game. I can't get to the main menu; it freezes just before I get there - I can see a command-like computer station in the background and occasionally hear little beeps in the background like it's a command room on the ship but I don't ever get passed the "Checking Downloadable Content" message that pops up on screen.

I did this. I tried to make it work without the provided, free Cerberus Network DLC and then I tried it with the DLC. In both cases, the same thing happens - game loads up, I press start, game searches for "Downloadable Content", and then it freezes and I never reach the main menu.
If you're saying I should go get other DLC and download that and try, my response is "no way". I'm refuse to buy content that I wont be able to use if the game wont work.
Thanks for at least trying to help though. I appreciate it.
