By the way, what the hell happened to my mother? No email mom? Geez, way to show you care.

you are not alone. they were poorly done. they could have been great, but what they had felt like filler. I would have felt more if I ran into Mordin on a beach, running tests on seashells
Oh man, agreed. That would've been great. You emerge from the forest after chasing the kid, squinting at the sudden burst of sunlight. Mordin's standing in the sand, running tests on seashells and smiling at Shepard. Thane's got his feet in the water, head bowed and praying. The Virmire Sacrifice sitting on a rock, slightly isolated from the other two, looking peaceful as they watch the waves. Legion on the volleyball court, doing the robot and...yeah, that got away from me.
The over-the-top moon jogging didn't help much, and Shepard's slack-jawed horror face made the whole thing seem over-dramatic, and at points, unintentionally comedic. It wasn't a bad idea, but the child's death at the beginning seems a bit ham-fisted, and it only grows from there. The whispers were good though.

But mostly they didn't work all that well, I don't think. Though I liked the scenes after the dreams, they did a decent job of showing that Shepard is under strain.

So yeah, it was annoying and stupid.

Those dream sequences made me feel uncomfortable. I was running after a child in a forest like some sort of pedophile.
Haha. That certainly changes the dynamic of those scenes. Next time I play through I'll be trying to keep a straight face thinking of that.

If you want to do some artsy dream thing again then have a dialog wheel choice for me to pick something entertaining. Space version of Jay and Silent Bob in front of a Citadel Quick Stop. Let me catch a few laughs while you do your art thing and we can meet up again. In the actual story.
Jay = Salarian
Silent Bob = Krogan

The shadows were creepy, the voices and even the kid to an extent. Seeing myself embrace the kid in fire really took it to another level.

I not only feel nothing (apart from frustration that I'm running in slow-mo and can't escape) but can't for the life of me understand just what BioWare is trying to provoke in me. Guilt? Remorse? Chagrin? I just don't know. Nor do I care.
By the way, what the hell happened to my mother? No email mom? Geez, way to show you care.
You do find out from Hackett that your mother is okay and her ship is with the fleet. I would have liked a video communication for players with the spacer background, though. That is a minor complaint I overlooked. So many worse things in ME3, but you know that already.....

"They're realling pushing this kid on us?" was my first thought. "I wonder what they're building up to?" came a close second.

Whispers of fallen comrades
Take it or leave it
Shadow people
Surreal feeling of chasing something you cannot catch
Hate it
Dream sequences are identical for all players
Dream sequences are mandatory in all playthroughs
Setting the dream in a weird forest/park
Burning little kid is always the focus
It's not that the kid should never be there, but clearly for some Shepards there is no connection to the kid. If previous dialogue choices had an effect on who showed up in those dreams or where they took place, it would be better.
Other things that could show up in Shepard's troubled sleep:
* Virmire sacrifice, if you have acted really broken up about who died
* Akuze, Mindoir, Torfan- depending on how well you've dealt with your past
* Prothean beacon visions of doom, especially with Javik around
* Living squadmates- people you're afraid of losing

I don't know if it's just me being too jaded and cynical as a person, but I felt absolutely nothing at all during the dream sequences. If anything I found it quite jarring, it felt like Bioware were trying to force me to care about some character I don't know who had 20 seconds of screen time.
They would have had more emotional impact on me if they were flashbacks of the Virmire sacrifice and/or other characters with whom I actually had some connection. Maybe showing a sequence of something bad happening to Shepard's LI.
So what about you? Did you feel anything?
With this, I agree. If the sequences had been presented as a sort of "Kobayashi Maru" mission then it would have had a greater impact. Like fighting to reach a squadmate before they become twisted monsters and as soon as you reach them, they ask why didn't you get here sooner? Or other unwinnable situations that seek to break your resolve.

See, this right here would have been great.

Like... any given dead member of her crew that fell in battle or died along the way. Maybe Ash if she'd been left behind, or Kaiden if he'd been.
Or Mordin.
Or, well, anyone, really.
Just because it's a kid, and he died, doesn't mean there's any real, genuine emotional connection, there. I love kids, but this isn't a real one, or even realistic-looking one - why am I supposed to care, again? And why is Shep supposed to care so much more about it than --
ahh... ugh... nevermind. I won't get worked up again :/
