More to the point, Catherine the Great was one of the most autocratic and aggressive rulers in Russian history.

She had the crazy Rasputin on her back who meddle everything. They were both insane anyway. So they don't count.

Wow, Catherine the Great and Rasputin were literally over one hundred years apart.

So men who are assassins, bounty hunters, soldiers, hunters etc. are skilled by default? Because they are male, they don't train or learn specializations?

No. men started to muscle with each other as young as 5 years old.  Girls on the other hand, play with their barbie dolls and cried when you just pinch their arm.

Huh. And that's not social conditioning right there? Girls being given Barbie dolls? And girls not being allowed or encouraged to rough-house?

Though I must say, I resent your assertation that it's girls who cry when they get their arms pinched. I knew plenty a young boy who would shed some rather chunky tears if pinched, as well as many a young girl who would stoically endure the pain.

So too, I knew plenty of girls that played in the dirt, wrestled, climbed trees, staged battles in their backyards, etc. As much as you would like to believe that those behaviors are solely indicative of the male gender, I'd have to strongly disagree.

Not quite where I was going. Social conditioning is the tendency to raise girls and boys to like different things - to guide/mold them in a certain manner. Social conditioning is perpetuated and enforced by marketing. It's not that women may prefer one genre over the other - it's that advertisement is conveying these messages.

I disagree.  It's female nature of why they play MMO and Facebook games more than male do. It's sosial networking. Female just love being socialize being. It's their nature. Advertisement has nothing to do with it.

Well, you and I are going to be on opposite sides with this. I don't think it's a female trait to be social. And as I said, advertisement has much to do with social conditioning - it's been that way for decades.

I'm gonna link so many of my friends in academia across several different disciplines to this thread, so they can each laugh - for their own reasons - at what Sacred_Fantasy is shoveling.

For my part, I'm laughing at the "history." I think the sociologists will be laughing the hardest, though.

Your hypothesis is flawed.

I am an adult female gamer who plays RPGs on hard or higher difficulty settings. I have never played any kind of MMO or Facebook game. I am not social by nature, inclination, or social conditioning.

Fiance is an adult male gamer who is less interested in RPGs than I am because he finds the tactical aspects too challenging. He plays Battle Pirates and several other Facebook games avidly. Ironically, just about everyone on his social gaming network is male.

The world is changing. Perpetuation of outdated stereotypes is not sound marketing.

Are you serious.

No, really, are you serious.

You're using blatant male-gaze fanservice marketed toward men as evidence that women are favored.

And I think we're sufficiently off-topic that we're done here.

In the future, if you aren't well-versed in gender studies and feminist ideas, I'd suggest taking a step back and refraining from posting in regards to them until you've educated yourself a bit. Just a little bit of friendly advice.

They put obviously more effort into female characters, even hiring models etc...

So HOW are men favored here?
