I swear, I want to love Baldur's Gate 1. I really do!! And I bet if the game ran constantly, I could. But alas, this game pauses every ten seconds! It pauses for four or five seconds, then it goes for another ten or so seconds, then pauses again, and so on! Idk a whole lot about PC's [specifically windows 7(which I'm playing on) or the infinity engine] but I was wondering if anybody out there had any suggestions. I asked for some possible assistance in a forum I posted four or five days ago, and I got a few suggestions. ("At LINE NUMBER 5387!! NO!" It should be two posts below this one.) However, some suggestions I got failed to relinquish the problem at hand. I told myself and the lovely people who helped me with my earlier problem that I could deal with the teleporting and constant pausing. I was.................... wrong. (Teardrop trinkles down my face) I was sooooooooooo wrong.  Everytime my game pauses, I can't help but scream in my head, which results in an unpleasent grunt out loud. PLEASE I NEED HELP!!<3= BRRRROOOOOKKKKKEEEENNNN!!!

Can I just check that:
- you did a full installation (ticked every box)
- you've installed the correct patch (matched to your original disks)
- you've not installed to the default program files location

You could try installing the generalised biffing mod.
http://www.shsforums...alized-biffing/
This is quite helpful in reducing lag generally, although it does sound as though you've got a specific installation problem rather than just lag caused by accessing lots of game resources, e.g. in major battles.

Ive done all three of those things! I will check this mod you are talking about thx! However, now its kinda ridiculous really, because I configured my game in the config menu to go like REALLY fast, and now lag is barely an issue, unless I'm in dialouge, but it kinda gives me a headache when the game moves at ;like a thousand miles per hour

Excessive lag is caused by a lack of system resources... even on newer machines... I don’t know what your setup is but you can try these lag twicks in order.

1. The biggest lag hogs are antivirus monitors... Nortans is notorious but some of the better freebies like Avast have Behavior shield which can cause extra lag and should be told to leave games alone.

2. Open BGConfig.exe and look at cache size (it’s in miscellaneous under gameplay)... I find about 1000 mb is good for my system.

3. Turning down the frame rate will increase performance at the cost of losing data (makes the screen jump ).

To USSNorway The configuration screen seems to apply to Baldur's Gate 2 expansion. Does it also apply to the first one? Because I found that page in the photo, but I didnt change anything cause I didn't think it would apply to the first game. If you could tell me, thank you!

The vanilla BG1 might just say Config.exe and would therefore look like this screenshot… sorry for any confusion.
