I just don't get why some people like Liara so much. In my opinion, she feels too forced onto the players and the game makes her seem so important, and that you should like her because of all of the bonding moments you have with her. But that's just my opinion.

So Liara fans, why DO you like Liara so damn much?

I'm not the biggest Liara fan, but I think she's a very good character. First, her character definitely evolves through the three games, she's very different from when you first free her on Therum. Other than Garrus and Tali, who are squadmates in all 3, I don't think anyone develops as much. She's also important in the non-game lore of the ME universe. You can get to know her outside the games in the comics. This makes up a little for her not being in 2 for much outside of LotSB.

Ask Bioware. They're the ones seemingly pushing her onto you (even if you tell her in ME1 that you only want to be friends).

She saved your corpse, she's the Shadow Broker... Ugh.

Also, "Liara, like most asari, was as beautiful as she was intelligent." Mind you, <-- is before the romance affirmation in Genesis.

I am not sure what you want to hear. People like her for a number of reasons, both in-depth and shallow, just like any other squadmate. What is so great about Miranda or Tali?

Some people find her attractive (blue alien), some people like her personality/intelligence and some people just want to see the sex scene...

She's ok.

I like her sweetness, and kindness. She's definitely pretty. She has a decent character arc.

However I, like so many others, dislike the way she is written. It was just done poorly, she almost seems bi-polar at times.

Besides having a more fleshed-out character than most, she's highly intelligent, empathetic and caring, not speciesist (which is what killed Ashley for me right from the start), beautiful, and has very useful biotic powers. She's the good, nerdy girl who's also beautiful and strong.

Tali is a close second-place LI for me - she has some awesome lines and I love her strength.

I wanted to like Miranda, but I found her character boring and one-dimensional.

Liara is the ultimate wife material. Smart, funny, cute, blue eyes, blue in general and she can kill you. Yes I'm in love.

I hope this was intentional.

At any rate, I like Liara in ME3 because she
  • can combo with biotics like every second
  • is the only squadmate who has warp
  • improves the squad's recharge speed.

She was just so damn cute in the first game I'm sort of trapped in this relationship I haven't got the balls to get myself out of ...

I don't really like her. I did feel she was forced down my throat and that she was madly in love with Shepard no matter what.

BUT

That scene, with her "time capsule" or whatever it was really called was great.

Sweetness really, all the other female romances like most real girls have hidden/f'ed up pasts.

Liara is like a clean slate you can corrupt.

Especially after you shoot her mom in the face, she's so vulnerable.

I don't understand people's dislike of Liara, OP.  Most people's opinion seems to be "Bioware wants me to like her, therefore I don't like her."  It's almost like these people feel like they're "sticking it to the man" by not liking Liara, even though there really isn't anything serious enough about her flaws to merit such dislike.

She's well written, sweet and caring, and useful in combat to boot.  I don't get why people wouldn't like someone like that, even if they don't love her.
