Well, he's supposed to have a limited time left before the calling because he joined when he was old. So if the next game starts after DA2, it would be a bit of a surprise if he's still around.

edit: though I wouldn't have expected Wynne to last as long as she did, from what was said in Origins.

Alistair says in the King Alistair quest that Loghain's still alive.

And Gaider's gone on record to say that though it wasn't his intent at first, since people took the 30 years to mean 30 actual years more or less, that's how it's going to be.

Actually the epilogue of DA:O is irrelevant considering Alistair mentions Loghain still yet lives in Act 3 of DA2 ( If you have Alistair as King and Loghain alive ).

No, Act 3 take place during the exact year the epilogue mentions.

Proof? I've never seen this supposed "epilogue slide" in all of my Loghain sparing playthroughs of Origins and Awakening.

Gaider has said the taint makes people age faster, so since Loghain is old, he's not going to last long. http://social.biowar...455504/2#455902

The epilogue slide that says Loghain only lives a several years only appears when the Warden dies.

The problem is that he is mentioned as being alive in DA2. So unless they to want to ****** on their franchise more they should maintain some consistency. Or if he is dead the Warden's choice should be mentioned instead of the game acting as if you killed Loghain.

They wouldn't send one of their finest characters to Orlais only to kill him off-screen before we head there.

DG: It's something I put in Alistair's dialogue that I now regret! Afterwards I was like, "Wow, thirty years is a long time for that time frame." I didn't really intend when I was writing it, and only afterwards when I went back I said "Oh...I guess it does sort of implies thirty years after you take the Calling, doesn't it..." Sorry, after you take the Joining. That wasn't really my intention. But it's out there now so I'm like, okay, thirty years. But the idea is also that it varies. Thirty years is the maximum that you could probably expect. It's going to vary for an individual according to their willpower and the level of their interaction with the darkspawn. During a Blight you can expect that the Grey Wardens are going to have shorter lifespans. Outside of a Blight the Grey Wardens would tend to live longer. We have instances in the game of people going on their Calling after five or ten years. Alistair's thirty year quote shouldn't be taken as gospel, that's the way I like it

http://swooping-is-b...om/1286233.html

Gaider's said that outside of a Blight -- and considering Loghain's not living in a Blight, plus he was recruited near the end of the Fifth Blight -- Wardens will live a long time, possibly gaining the 30 year quota.

Also this.

And additionally, this. We're told in-game that Loghain still lives, and judging by Alistair's proclamation of said fact Loghain is still an active Warden and nowhere near his deathbed/Calling.

I don't think they realize how great a character he was. And I am starting to believe that his greatness was essentially an accident and that they didn't expect a number would like him that much.

Hey man, monsters and insane people with no characterization are what the fans really want. Not actual people with real motivations and whatnot.

lol.

I'm kinda worried what Loghain would look like in the DA2 art style. *shudders*

Probably not too bad, assuming he's actually given time to look good. The DA2 art style made Anders, Nathaniel, Merrill, and Cullen look good in regards to their old looks.

I think that it's not so much the art style that makes the people look bad so much as it is how much time they're given to look good.

Though I'd advise Bioware to make more realistic looking hair. Both games had it look like it was painted on, but DAII's style was more evident on some people depending on the shade of the color

But I'm not sure if it's a lighting issue or what the reason is. Some people actually didn't have their hair look painted on.

Like Hawke.

My Loghain lost his head at the end of DAO. Not possible to return.

@Ukki :
Yes,and your choice should be respected. As mentioned in my,as well as the OP`s and other ppl`s posts,we,who let him live and be sent to Orlais, want him back as an option. Not forcing him on everybody,as canon.There.

Aside from that,I will be very sad if they just do away with possibly one of the most compelling male VG characters ever created. For me,anyway.
And,on a side note,I am kind of really angry that we,"odd" ladies, never got him as a romance option. Finally,a mature man with some substance and a masculine look to boot, and poof.
Well,it seems teenage angst romances are the fad nowadays(for the females, anyway).

I don't have a "Loghain lives!" playthrough myself, but I like this thread a lot. I really enjoyed what little time I got to spend with Loghain (He took the archdemon blow for me) and loved him in the books (as in, I found him both sympathetic and infuriating in a well-written-character kind of way), so featuring him in a cameo should we hit Orlais would be wonderful. Even if it was a throwaway two-line thing, I think that would be enough to warrant another Loghain playthrough for me - he was just really compelling as a character and I'd love to see more of him.

In that case he'll probably die to hero, named Hurlock Health, in the deep roads.
He doesn't have that many years.

As for the Calling :In my epilogue where the Warden lives,no definite fate is mentioned for Loghain or any of the companions. It is mentioned he dies several years later only IF the Warden did the US.

Maybe my game was bugged. But I had married anora and Logain was in awakening...I talked to him and it had said at the ending he didn't live long. In fact the impression was 1-2 years, not over 10. (Hawke's timeline) If it had been over 10 I doubt there would have even been a mention of it. imho

As much as I like seeing old companions its doubtful since so many may have killed him. BW has been known to say they prefer gameplay everyone can access at one go. Meaning no branching stories or unique content for only some people. They want new players to jump in and experience it all.

I think maybe they are relaxing that opinion somewhat. Talk of choices that *really* matter and perhaps more replayability is a huge plus in my book.

The epilogue slides are very open to change as already shown by contradictions with DA2 and confirmed by devs.

Even so,am I only one who would actually donate quite a lot of my hard-earned euros if they released Loghain as a DLC companion? Seriously,I would totally do it.
Wonder why Alistair insists on Loghain being alive in DA2 though...and where was Anora in King Alistair`s "cameo" in DA2? I had them marry....

PS.I would even pay for my Warden as a DLC optional protagonist, just as I did pay to play as Kain and Raziel in Lara Croft : Guardian of Light :)
I know Lara Croft is not an RPG with multiple endings, but just a thought...

Ah,well...need to get back earning those euros.

Understandable, and again,a choice to be respected.
Please read the OP and the posts above more carefully,as noone stated that they wanted "Le Loghain" to return as a canon character and mess up some people`s games.:wizard:

I suppose the OP was for Bioware, too,no?;)
Strange that I should respect your choice completely and would never want to force mine on you,yet you would not give me the OPTION to see another character again (even if it were feasible, mind you).

I did not mean for you not to see Loghain if he is alive in your game.

I meant for Bioware to stop the plot holes so he does not appear in my game as they did with some NPC’s in DA2.
