I don't know much about background history in this game.

But is it possible to have something like Samura in DA world?

I think it could be so interesting to have them.

So far I haven't seen any part of Thedas that it would make sense for, but information on certain areas is rather sketchy.

There seems not to be any Asian-based culture around Thedas.

It probably wouldn't fit if we're talking about an exact duplication of what Samurai are - but other areas of the world might enable them to create another 'culture' that fits with what the Samurai are. Though it would remain to be seen if they would be stereotypical in terms of the way they look or the weapons they wield. It might only be their philosophies that would be transferred over - if that.

I mean, it looks to me like the world DA is set in is fairly medieval and all the gear and equipment seems to reflect that so I'm not sure if the samurai style would even suit.

The world of Thedas, upon entering the DA:O storyline, is already hundreds of years old.

I think it would be neat to come across an ancient tomb that would reveal a Monk or Ninja NPC that could be rejuvenated to become a party member. This NPC could have traveled to Thedas in centuries past and been buried in a magical ritual to pehaps be brought back to life by a Mage's touch. This NPC would be very mysterious since her/his customs, religion, etc., would be far different than any of the other "native" Thedas citizenry. This NPC would be refreshing and constantly reveal new insights to her/his homeland.

I don't see this as far-fetched. I just don't know how hard it would be to implement a new NPC as a potential party member.

Mods. Make one yourself if you really care. Personally I don't want to see samurai in game.

Thedas is comparable to Europe in size, with the Amaranthine Ocean on the east, and the Boeric Ocean to the north. Ferelden lies to the far southeast and isn't that large compared to the rest of the continent.

Further south, past the Korcari Wilds, is a frozen wasteland that only the Chasind Wilders have explored. There's also land further west, but the Hunterhorn Mountains inhibit travel, as do the jungles of Donarks in the northwest. Par Vollen also lies to the north, much closer to the equator.

There's definitely more than enough space in the DAO world for an asian inspired civilization.

Sten could be thought of as an equivalent, if you squinted. There's also 'grey men' in their homeland who sound like they could be ninja's.

Thedas is a single continent in the southern hemisphere of the world, whatever you want to call their planet.  You think that the DA:O world is comprised of a single continent?

there are as of yet, no revealed asian cultures.

however, recreating a samurai would be more along the lines of thought process over actual appearance and abilities.

the samurai posessed no real differences beyond culture (which is different here anyway since its a fantasy world) than any other historical warrior archetype.

its thier outlook and how your role play the game with a leaning towards a "bushido" code as opposed to how your character looks.

the dar missan (the dalish elf longsword) is somewhat of a curved blade. that is the closest you will come towards a samurai look.

obviously, bioware dropped the ball and didn't include spears in the game or other pole weapons so thats out.

but you could always simply have them focus on a mix of bow tactics, dual weapon to signify the katana and wakisashi use (modeled not after the most common use, but because of musashi, the most popular in stories) and use a dar missan and dar missu as weapons.

or if you are on a pc, mod them to include tsubas.

EDIT:

if you need some ideas on the samurai mentality, and the actual code of bushido as opposed to the misrepresentations of the media and anime (especially anime). read the book Hagakure-

its an actual depiction of the application of bushido through anecdotes told by a ronin to a monk.

And Samurai's are like Knights which only differs when it comes to wielding sharper swords, faster reflexes, lighter armor and has, (weird for some) looks (cool for others.)

Ninjas are like shadows in Awakening so a rename of abilities and class would be appropriate and adding some or editing some skills to fit the class.

For Samurai, Warrior/Champion is the best equal in Thedas. Due to that Samurai are often commanders of lower ranking warriors. A Solid Warrior/Champion Samurai can work any other Specialization depending on your Samurai.

For Ninja, Rogue/Shadows are the Ninja equal in Thedas. Due to the Ninja's infliration abilities. A Solid Rogue/Shadow Build for a Ninja can work with any Specialization.
