When is the best time to do these?

These are Mark of the Assassin and Legacy.

I'm up to end of Act 2, just remembered you can't play post gameplay (or can you?).

Or does it just not matter when you do this?
Do you have your squadmates etc,,?

Yes, you can play them post-game (which is what i did because I'd already completed the game like, four or five times already). It doesn't make a ton of sense though, because by the end Hawke is... busy doing other stuff, and the DLC stuff seems kinda tame compared to what he/she's been dealing with at the end of Act 3.

I'd recommend waiting and doing both near the middle of Act 3, because being a higher level allows you to take on a higher level enemy in Mark of the Assassin, and because personally I liked the way the Legacy expansion worked out if you waited to do it after you completed the quest "All That Remains"

Just my advice - to be taken with a grain of salt, but I hope it helps. :)
I'm sure others have helpful opinions to offer too.

do mark of the assasin after you commited to your LI in act 2 if possible. (party banter take him/her with you)

Legacy gives the best weapon for your main character so you decide if you do it in late act 2 or 3 because it doesn't level up with you.

Anyone know if there are plans for anymore story-driven DLC?

cause the whole Anders/Sebastian thing is kind of up in the air right now

Well that just totally completely sucks!

So instead of completing & unleashing-sorry, meant REleasing an Actual expansion you already started, you ditch it & we now have to wait 2-3yrs for the next game???

Anyway, thanx for the update dude

Mark of the Assasin: Act III
Legacy: Act II-III

I know it sounds lame, but that gives the best story in terms of timeline. Both DLC offer very little in terms of items (especially if you have either one of the Item Pack DLC) but the armours you get are faily decent.

But none of the items are really exceptionally good. Hawke's Key is outclassed by just about anything you put your Primeval Lyrium Rune on. All party-specific jewellery is entirely useless if you have an item pack (and marginally useful if you don't). Really, the only good things I can think of are the Uncertainty rings from MtoA and the Hawke armour from both.

I prefer to stick with the main story, and then do the dlc post game. That also allows me to reload the post game autosave whenever I want to replay them without having to redo parts of the main game.

Yes, it does suck that Bioware cancelled the DA2 expansion because they got distracted by a shiny object....I mean, they want to focus on DA3. They did the same thing with DA: Origins dlc and we got a rushed DA2 out of it.

I think it makes most sense to do both late Act 3, for gameplay's sake at the least.

In terms of story, Legacy would probably be early Act 3 to mid Act 3, while MotA wouldn't make a huge amount of sense before Act 3, story wise.

One thing worth mentioning is that if you do both just before finishing the game you get a rake of gold to spend on various high end items. If you play them post game, you get a rake of useless gold.

I just did Legacy in Act 1 because I wanted Bethany with me and was afraid I wouldn't get her later on.

The armor set you get doesn't look like it would be useful after Act 2. Not sure at what point I'll be replacing it, but it'll probably be in Act 2 sometime.

The weapon didn't look like it would last beyond Act 2 either, but if it scales more powerful if you wait and do Legacy later then waiting might be worth it.

In my opinion, you should do them after you get your mansion and become somewhat 'famous.'

The DLC offers giant open spaces and will offer much needed variation from the repetitive caves and Kirkwall alleys. So I did one after the start of act 2 and one just before starting act 3. That made more sense to me.

But you could do them anytime you want. The dialogue will change depending on what act you are in. Just start it up when you get bored off the same bandit ambush :)

You can take her (or Carver) any time provided they're alive, they will take a break from their Circle/Templar/Grey Warden duties for the trip.
I did Legacy in Act III and Bethany's new staff  was incredibly powerful.

Thanks for the tip. ^_^ I'll be sure to save Legacy for Act 3 from now on then.
