EDIs Body and Female gamers

Jack didn't bother me as she never struck me a "sexy". She seemed more "punk" or "hard". I just kept thinking about how much that leather strap must chafe. Otherwise, no problem.
Now Miranda, THAT was annoying. I swear if I have to hear her talk about how pretty/perfect she is while being forced to stare at her butt one more time, I'm modding my game.
As to heels in combat, while they are far from my first choice of footwear, I been active enough in high heels to know that if you're used to them, running, jumping and making agile turns are a piece of cake. I'd rather have flats, but I'll say it can be done.
Oh and before I forget to mention, I'm female.

I agree with almost everything you said, yet I feel the need to comment on this.elegolas1 wrote...
the high heels ****** me off on any charcter in battle! ridiculous! also i am confused how some characters go out into space with bare skin. like on the reaper iff mission in me2 where they have to jump over to the normandy. space is cold, it can be up to 0K, absolute zero. and yet jack and miranda have bare skin.
The list of things that can (and would) go wrong with vacuum exposure is so long and so emergent that if you were in a position to die of hypothermia in the first place, and did, that alone would be an act of god.

EDI's body (and I loved this) was supposed to be inspired by Maria from "Metropolis". I didn't really get that, just that she was a metal woman. I understand that you can't make her look like C-3PO, that just doesn't work in a game like ME. I think I would've been fine with EDI, but the ****** kinda disturbed me, haha.
EDI is treated the same as Miranda, just with less ass shots.
But the high heel thing I don't get. Yes, with practice you can run and jump in heels, I've done it (just for the love of god don't do it on cobble stone!) It's just not practical, Fem Shep, Jack, Liara and Ashley don't do it!

As a man, I can only agree with you there. (Even with the high heels on cobble stone bit. )
On the plus side we don't have the wonder bra and miniskirt in plate with a visible white knickers.
For EDI, I would have through that she was more like number 6 in BSG but she voiced by the actress in question so..
****** or 30-minutes-to-get-off-skin-tight-outfit aside, EDI and Miranda were well developed characters with a good story. I would have said well rounded char but...........
I am not saying it is perfect, but I would not lay too much blame on bio ware's door.

I liked EDI.
I never noticed the camel-toe and never looked that hard, I mean seriously? I don't see it as that big of a deal, I've seen the real deal, so I guess I really don't see the problem. I would think Miri's arse shots would be more bothersome (though, I'm not complaining)
My bigger issue is why so many female characters have to have daddy issues? Even in Levi they added Ann WITH daddy issues. (although, it does seem warranted given her fathers death)

- Jacob had a 'falling out' with his father
- Garrus had problems with his dad over Garrus quitting C-Sec; they didn't reconcile until the third game
- Wrex had to kill his dad
- Grunt was born in a Tank
- Thane had issues as a father
- James Vega's dad made him bring him drugs and tried to blackmail him into staying with him
- Legion has issues with the Quarians
The sheer volume of daddy issues is starting to make me think that Dad's must not like it when their sons go through medical school and then make video games for a living...

Hell, Shepard doesn't even talk to their father in any scenario.

I do like her body, but I would have liked it even if she got Legion's body (I love it). Being """naked""" and having ****** makes more sense when you are an infiltration unit and a robot.Let's be honest, any female outfit and appearance is hypersexualized since Me2 (Samara was absurd....), with the exception of Tali...and she is quarian. And then Liara's BOOBS or Ashley's face and hair. So, yeah, be mad at it, but not only for EDI.
And the character itself... I don't find her really overly sexualized (not a lot of ******/butt screentime compared to Miranda's ass). Ok, Joker's behaviour is of a really bad taste,he cares for he, I get thatr, but sometimes it seems like he only wants to get laid.
And then another things that pisses me off: killer abs and shaved bodies in every human male. Talk about hypersexualization. I'm sure femshep and manshep shave their legs together while the rest of the crew cleans their high heels or buys steroids... lovely.

I didn't like her getting a body in the first place. I really liked the concept that the Normandy was her body with all the advantages and disadvantages that included(kind of reminiscent of Pilot and Moya in Farscape, but with a different character to it).
I know that in principle this is still the case but looking at the narrative, at how it is presented, it is clear that the writers pushed the idea that EDI is now that sexy robot figure that hooks up with Joker. As if we hadn't seen enough of that already.
Her remaining the ship would have made for much more interesting plot and character opportu8nities IMO, especially given her relationship with Joker. With the body, it just feels cheesy and weird, if she had stayed disembodied, that whole subplot could have been really unique and full of interesting dialogue. Also, the ending with the ship being heavily damaged and crashed would have had a whole new dimension.
All in all, over-sexualized or not, I think the writers took the very easy way out when they gave EDI the body and thereby wasted a huge amout of potential in the plot and the character.
Agreed. It might have worked if she had a few different bodies (YMIR, LOKI, Geth crawly thing from ME1 or a prime, maybe?) she used as we would use clothes, maybe, but the body humanised her too much. It took away a huge part of what made her interesting and unique.
Also those high heel feet were ridiculous and it seemed a bit convenient all the burn damage disappeared as soon as EDI took control

1. Dr. Eva's body was meant to be, to allow for infiltration and deception.
2. In another vein, the idea was to make you think of her as a person.
3. On a instinctive level, they wanted you to understand Joker's interest. (I like EDI for who she is, not her body. But it's an easy way into the animal brain.)
You want to know where hypersexualisation annoyed me? Ashley.
They hussy'd her up something fierce. Pounds of extra makeup, massive collagen lips, the miniskirt armour, and on and on. Just yuck! Add to that her constant insecurities about, well, everything. Then they compare her directly to you by making her a Spectre. Just ... wow.
On a side note, I do wish they'd "fill out" models more realistically. Especially the one that Shepard uses. Broaden the shoulders a bit, add a little more mass to the arms.
