I wanted to ask Garrus Calibrations something. As a girl gamer, did you choose Garrus as a love interest? If so, why? Are you...physically attracted to him?

Actually, I wanted to know this about female gamers in general. It seems she likes garrus, but I don't know if she chose him as an LI. I know I might as a femshep, but I'm not female so I wouldn't be repulsed by his, you know, non-human-ness.

I can't give you answer for Garrus Calibrations, but a few friends of mine who play Mass Effect and just happen to be girls say that Garrus is pretty neat. Lots of them likes his behaviour, some even like his tough-guy-visage.
Personaly, I think it's the uniform. Girls love men in uniform.   And I bet he can calibrate them juuust right...

It's like one of those paradoxes. Like how people talk about skinny models and the dangers of bulemia and anorexia all the time, like it needs to be a big public service announcement cause "so many kids are dying from it" except for the fact that I've never personally met a bulemic or anorexic person, or met anyone who got sick from being to skinny. I've met plenty of obese people, though. This is female gamers for me. I see them on forums all the time, I'm aware of their existence, yet I never seem to meet any of them in real life.

Yes, what happened with her? They were talking off topic about some other games, then they said they're leaving or that the thread was dying or something. She seemed to leave before I said anything. Why? Did I miss something?

It's like what I saw a few pages back: there are gamer-girls who are self-entitled because of their gender and behave accordingly, the "I'm a woman and I'm a better gamer than you!" attitude. Most females want to stay away from this and they generally aren't the ladies you meet everyday at the store. 

I know 1 girl who plays video games as much as I do, and she's quite the shut-in. She never admitted to playing video games before I did and, sadly, she won't go out of her way to hang out or go to parties. It's sad, but she seems happy that way.

Female gamers get a lot of attention, this thread was booming because one of them was here. Not everybody loves that, so they mainly keep to themselves.

 Honestly seeing some of the comments in this thread disturbs me. And guys actually wonder why female gamers appear-offline?

The reason you don't see more of us is because being a girl gamer, is a nightmare online.(Especially xboxlive)  Most  male gamers will add you to their freind list, for the fact you're a female, and not because you're a gamer.<_< (To be fair  male RPG gamers are far more civilised, then there COD counter-parts.)

Same here. You should hear some of the stuff people say when I jump on TF2 with my mic, oh my god. "Are you a 12-year-old boy?" "No, I'm a woman." "I didn't know girls played this game! Are you hot? Say something sexy!"

Sometimes I just say that I am a 12-year-old boy, it makes things easier. Sometimes. <_<

Oh, and I'm a comic artist by profession, too! That's another field that's traditionally been male-dominated with a stigma against women, so it's fun as well.

Anyway, OP, the internet brings people together! Even if you can't find any fans (female or not) that live around you, that's what the BSN is for.

I get the 12 year old thing all the time. Then when I say I'm a women, sometimes I don't even get believed! 

"Oh your a girl huh? Yeah, surreeeee~"

I think I got it worse in Red Dead Redemption Multiplayer, I don't even bother talking in games like TF2 or COD, most people there don't make coherent sentences anyway.

I once had a guy offer to do a strip dance for me free of charge because he was 'hot' and I'd 'like it'. *Shudder*.

Oh the plus side my boyfriend finds it hilariously funny and just laughs. 

All my girl friends know I play games though and they're all cool with it. I try to explain games to my best friend though and she just gives me a blank look like "huh?". I did explain Mass Effect to her though and then she wanted to see what all the aliens looked like - so success!

I can't speak for all girl gamers but I don't actually play Femshep that much. In some weird gender swap exchange my boyfriend plays FemShep and I mainly play Manshep, romancing the females (Liara being my favourite at the moment).

As for Garrus, he's a cool bro but I just feel wrong romancing. Not because he's an alien but because I look at him and go "That dudes my best friend!" even though I play as Femshep sometimes I always have a manshep mindset.

I see you guys online all the time, I just never encountered a real girl gamer. Well, take that back, I met a few girls that played CoD or WoW or the Sims or any of those other mainstream games. But as far as playing Mass Effect? KOTOR? The Elder Scrolls? Never.
